Maybe I missed it, but since the "Invasion version" of the MadDog will only be available through the bonus program, will there be 3 other variants of the MadDog (for a total of 4 MadDog variants)? Without that, there is no way to master it without both clan packs ........

The only mechs here that look really good are the Fenris and Loki. The Koshi will be good if it has an ECM arm.

The Fenris will do 141kph with speed tweak, so it will be a fast harasser. The Loki will ofcourse be awesome due to ECM, but it will need 3-4 tons more armor to max out the armor (remember it doesn't have endo-steel or FF armor) since the stock 8 won't cut it. That gives is 24 tons of weapons, which still makes it very potent.

The Koshi is fast, but not as fast as the Raven or Ember, and it carries less weapons and has no ECM, so I don't see it being amazing. The exception would be if they allow the C variant arm which does have ECM. Then the Koshi will be the Clan light mech of choice due to its speed.

The Man O'War just flat out sucks. It takes up an Assault slot, but carries less weapons and armor than a timber wolf. The Warhawk is a better assault. The Man O'Wars speed doesn't make up for it's weaknesses, unless PGI gives it some decent perks (which I hope they will do).

The Mad Dog is an awesome looking mech, but it is an underperformer also compared to other heavies. The Timber has more armor and heatsinks, so unless the Vulture has some nice perks, there is no reason to select it. The Ryoken/Stormcrow is faster and has more armor, and is a weight class lighter, so it would seem to be a better choice too

A good way to balance this would be to regulate weights. But as long as the game lets you make all your heavies 75 tonners, then mechs at the bottom of the scale will have a disadvantage.

Just my thoughts.

How about take all this money hire a couple designers and knock out a couple maps? Instead of one map designer and it apparently only costing "a couple thousand" to make a single map. Hell that'll be achieved in sales in about an hour after the sale goes live.

That said I bought the masakari pack, will be buying this one, and qualify for each of the other rewards. But it's not just about driving new mechs... Figure it out.

Russ,

Any chance you guys can put a "challenge" or stat to show how many games people have played since last year's anniversary? I'm sure there are people who are interested in this stat to see if they qualify / how far they are from completing for the 100 games played bonus.

What ya do is learn how to aim normal SRMs.

Jenners have no chance once you get it down pat.

so then why are you still posting here? You're not standing on some sort of moral high ground, you know.

Because I still spent a lot of money and put a ton of hours into the game, so I weigh in my opinion. Even less mechs in this one and they still want a lot of money for digital content that they refused to refund me even though it's just a matter of taking them out of my mechlab.

You guys do know eventually this game is gonna be shut down and you will have nothing to show that you once played the game. Why shell hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a game you cant even physically hold?

So unless you buy everything the vulture will not be available until december. Not even as a pre-purchase at all. Right?

Side note. Nice mech pack.

how about this?

If people don't know about this page, then how can you expect them to check the challenge page if one gets put in place?

Of course eventually it'll be shut down. Most likely after I've stopped playing, but that doesn't matter.

This is no different than paying for all sorts of entertainment - movies, sporting events, trips, etc - spending a lot of money to have a lot of fun is a very normal thing to do. Whether its worth it or not is a personal value judgement. What's worthwhile for me may not be for you, after all.

You're not some bastion of reason amidst the hordes of ignorant morons, you know. We know damn well what we're spending money on, and feel the dollar to entertainment conversion ratio is good for us.

If it's not good for you, fine. Don't buy. If you're not happy with the game, don't play. *shrugs* But don't assume your value judgements apply to other people, or even that they care what you think of how they spend their money.

First, you can physically-hold other games? Oh... you mean a fancy box that I will only toss... right.

Secondly, nunya-dang-business!!

I'll spend my hard earned cash however I like. Thank you very much.

That said, I believe in Harvey.... ur... Russ Bullock.

I think I might buy an entire Clan wave 2 pack, just to spite DB001.

Or, just the Hellbringer... ;)

Well, there's our second ECM Clan 'Mech in the form of the Koshi C-configuration, and they could easily do B or D for the other one along with the Prime. Moveover, it's the speedy light - the Spider to the Kit Fox-Raven. The Ice Ferret strikes me a bigger, better Cicada.

Actually, with the Hellbringer, that gives the clans three ECM mechs to choose from. and we finally get a heavy ECM mech.

Also, regarding the prime's A-pods, I'm guessing it will have 2 free tons you can use however you want, I can imagine it'll be used for additional heat sinks or armor.

That is technically the first ECM hero (+30% for Prime).

Well, there's 120 bucks I didn't need. I need that shiny Gargoyle and Mad Dog. I loved the Gargoyle in MW2, its so good to see it making a return, and not as an ugly SOB like the TT model shows! And the Mad Dog... the 6 LRM10 Mad Dog will put fear into the hearts of anyone who hears 'Incoming missiles'

But nothing comperes... TO THE KING CRAAAAAB

Will be interesting to see what the predominant mad dog builds will be... my guess is that dual Gauss and 6 X LRM 15 will both be popular, perhaps with the odd dual LBX 20 sprinkled in.

Stock Prime all the way :D

I was waiting for the medium 45 ton ECM Shadowcat, but you are giving us a heavy 65 ton ECM Hellbringer.

The 25 ton ECM Mist Lynx has to compete with the 30 ton ECM Kit Fox. Have both may be useless....

And still no Kodiak... don't like the ManOWar. But i like the Mad Dog.

Take the pack? Take it not? 2 be or not 2 be? Or 2 beer fora a Bear?
