I going to go back to the original argument for this as it is still very valid in my opinion. The Pult K2 should not be able to replace machine guns with AC20s or Gauss. Those slots shouldn't be able to go above AC5s (really AC2s in my opinion), The Jager should be able to carry larger guns. Most lights shouldn't be able to carry a PPC at all, much less 2 of them..

You said it, Man.
I find it very frustrating that my HBK-4G has this overly large shoulder (super easy to hit target) to fit in the massive AC20... Yet other Mechs can cram these into their build and the cannon shrinks in size to accommodate the chassis.

IS mech quirks - unique to each variant - should give each one more of a role

I have to agree with Lucy. I play comp, and run Lights in 100% of the comp matches I play; the Lights in use in comp play are the 6ML Jenner-F, the 4ML/4MG Ember, occasionally the 2ERLL Raven-3L, and recently I've seen a smattering of Kitfoxes (either 2ERLL, or 4SSRM4/6). Occasionally you'll see ERLL Spiders and Light-Hunter Jenner-Ds, and Oxides (either 4xSRM4 or 4xSSRM2, but streaks are rarer nowadays). I can't, for the life of me, remember anyone, ever, bringing a PPC Light into comp play.

That may not be a ton of variety, but it's a lot more viability than just one build like the OP makes it out to be.

And I'll tell you the same I said to Lucy, only 3 days ago in Chat I was told that my 1ERLL light build was "Lame" because I wasn't loaded for bear. Turned out over 200 dmg with it, but that apparently is irrelevant.

Now above, you list out what 6 chassis and maybe 3 builds? 3 chassis you mention are all 2ERLL builds. That's not variety to me.

And before you go off,

I'm not saying that no mech should be able to carry the same loadout as another mech, but just that, as I said in an earlier post, I'd like to see something that brings up the "bads" and lowers the "goods" so that all mechs are viable and you don't see so much repetition. To me, the mechs I'm driving have flavor as I build them to be different, the mechs I meet in battle, not so much.

And I must be in ELO hell as I still see some of these builds that you and Lucy never see any more. And here I though I was a decent player.

Why are you paying so much attention to what one joker tells you in chat?

If it was one it wouldn't be worth mentioning.... but there were several discussing it as I was still fighting. (needless to say they were already dead). I guess they were mad that I was "holding them up" since I was the last alive. But the mentality is still very much out there.

Also the builds on most of Mechs have nothing to do with the original Battle Tech builds. Open Mech lab in MW games is just for "fun time" super-duper "what-if" Mechs that have little do with canon, other than their looks. And then they just become a series of gunbag hardpoints.

This brings us to the next thing, BT and MegaMek have the ability to run stock campaigns, its built into the core of BT for game-making, which is/was a popular option. Stock games was also at the core of the video game MPBT3025, and was also a long running lore multiplayer option for both MW3 and MW4. MW4 also had a robust feature to allow or disallow certain tech on Mechs, so a "customization" server could restrict the MechLab in certain ways.

From the very beginning such options should have available and PGI would have probably received praise for doing so, as they have made the core of the MW multiplayer experience. Even though people complained about silly customization stuff in past games, it was less of an issue, because there were many different game types to join (which was a smart design choice).

Quirks do not Role Warfare make.

The sooner Russ realizes that, the better.

This is been said in other ways before, but as the system is now. 95% of mechs in the game have nothing that makes them remotely unique.

All the mechs are just a collection of hardpoints with some minor quirks to differentiate them (high mount hardpoints vs low mount, torso twist range, etc.)

Most players and nearly all comp players it seems will load the exact same weapons in just about all mechs. If it fits, AC20, if it doesn't Gauss. Squeeze 2 or 3 in if possible. The more the merrier. Add some PPCs. There, done.

Light mech? 2 PPCs. Everything else is "Lame".

I disagree with your assessment wholeheartedly. For one, who in their right mind runs lights exclusively with 2 PPCs?

That's great and all, but could we have a rough idea of what you guys are thinking? something like the AWS getting the 17% armour buff was more or less a drop in the bucket, in terms of effect... on 100 armour that's an extra 17 points, and it's not going to last long once something gets on top of that AWS...

I ask out of curiosity for my soon to be subjects brothers and sisters of the Sphere, as I am a clan player through and through, as I know you can look at my mech usage, it's more or less all I run, since I bought them

All my 'Mechs have a strange metallic taste. I dare not try the coolant.
