Just using the collective C bills earned over the weekend (28,341,000,000) if everyone got 10 mil, which not everyone did we had atleast MAYBE? 28 thousand players. Not counting the people that didnt opt in, and those who only played with a group. I would say there were more than POSSIBLY 30 thousand on over the weekend.

It seems that MWO is thriving, and thats good news!

MY BAD didnt see the decimal on my calculator, its a funky old business one... it is actually 2,834 :(.

I knew 28,000 seemed like alot of players lol! Oh well room for improvement then I suppose.

30k I wouldn't call thriving but it's not disastrous I guess.

Seeing as there are 70,000 Founders alone, those numbers are abysmal

You're off by a factor of 10 I think, 2800 players minimum. 28x10^9 cbills, 1x10^7 cbills/person gives 28x10^2 people.

Not everyone can play every week, and given MW fans trend older, many of us might have RL stuff to do. I have 2 friends who didn't play last weekend due to work for example.

I disagree, COD has about 130K people on at a time and its one of the most popular games. 30K+ is very good for a niche game like MWO.

for a title the Doomsayers keep saying is ready to fold and die?

Not bad at all.

This title, at the height of MW4 online, etc, never posted WoW numbers, or any other AAA title numbers. 30k MINIMUM ain't bad. Because the formula he used was by those who got their 10million Payout, it would be 28000.

A lot of people didn't get it, and even more like me, never tired for it. Mind you, a lot of people may have got 500k, 1mil, etc. So it's not like everyone got 10 mil, but considering the criteria to qualify for the 500k bonuses was probably met by a minority of players, it would indicate a much larger base, actually.

That said, if every maxed, If everyone who played this weekend maxed out, I believe it would be 3000 players. That said, again, since the people who actually got even 500k, let alone the full 10 mil are in the minority of the playerbase? probably not unreasonable to say 10x that actually played. Just not provable (on our side)

Math hard? :)

If everyone got 1 million = 28k players. If everyone got 10 million, that's only 2800 players.

But that only counts the people that opted in. I'm sure there's a healthy % that didn't.

This math I can agree with and is pretty much what I would expect of the current player base in MWO.

and that assumes everyone got 10 million. Didn't you need like a 130 match score and a win to get each 500K?

What percentage of MWO players do you think get 130 scores with any regularity. I break 100 pretty often, and have broke 150 a few times, but I would say getting twenty 130 pt outside of comp level players, which are the extreme minority of the playerbase, was not a common occurrence.

That's if I read the scoring right. Which since I only glanced at it friday, I could have wrong.

I know I did not get 10 mil, but at least I got something. Not saying what. A fair percentage of the matches I was in, well, lets just say the teams I happened to be on got stomped so bad that we ended up in the stone age.

Still the numbers of active players give us hope. :)

This is actually much closer to the upper limit of those who participated. It's reasonable to assume that the average of those who opted in is not less than 1 million cbills, which gives you an UPPER limit of 28k, not a lower one. It also gives a maximum number of 56,000 players who opted in over the weekend. This is assuming that everyone who played was able to get at least one good game for the challenge, this assumption may not be true.

So the population that plays regularly can be estimated to be between 3,000 and 60,000.

The 130 points wasn't all that difficult, actually.

20 points was a win, which was necessary to get any points at all.

Let's say 2 kills which brings us to 60 points, 5 assists to 110, 400 damage (/15) is ~26 points minus a bit for Team Damage.

That doesn't seem all that hard to get. Even 9 assists and a win is 110 points, with 300 damage that gets you the 130 points needed.

so where did this figure of $ earned come from?
I play WT at well Aussie times not US or Euro peak times and there are usually 30-40k players online at any given time...

so I did misread it, then. I assumed it was your match score being counted, 130 or more, and seems was not the only one, judging by the number of posts people keep tossing up with pictures of the endscreen and 130 match scores. Which don't grow on trees, for most of us.

Maths is tough but try dividing by another 10 and update your title to 2,800

Are you sure an extra 20 for a win??

I had SEVERAL games in the area of 2 kills 7 assists and 300ish damage with a win that I did not qualify for the bonus for

It it is true, PGI owes me money!
