A somewhat sizable part of me wishes they would just release the MASC mechs, sans MASC. Fill the tonnage with more heatsinks or armor or something.

With MASC, Executioner has 23.5 tons of room, stock, without armor modifications. With MASC removed, it sits at 27.5 tons available, without armor modifications. With MASC, Fire Moth has 6.5 tons of room. Without, 7.5 and is still plenty fast. Shadow Cat, 17 tons with MASC, 19 without. Etc.

Don't see why they couldn't, they released the Hellbringer without Anti-Personnel Pods. Could just add masc later like how ecm was added.

Besides most maps we have are too small for MASC anyway ;)

Releasing those mechs without masc is definitely the way to go. The firemoth already goes 160 kph. Thats more than most competitive lights. And the executioner would barely benefit from masc. Running with heavies at the cost of blowing your legs out isn't really that big of a benefit. And limited podspace/hard points is the reason many omnimechs suffer so much (summoner).

For some reason i am actually one of those (probably few) who say "MASC or nothing".

I mean, it is part of their identity.. It would feel wrong to not have it. And i am one who likes the Shadow Cat, one of my favourite Clan 'Mechs from TRO3052.

Exactly this. Show me another mech around 90 tons that runs 85-100 kph like Executioner F, or just any other mech that runs 216-250 kph like Fire Moth G. And speaking of Shadow Cat, may I remind of a http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Black_Lanner that has 13 tons of pod space and ECM in Prime config and goes for 151 kph. Not bad, I say.

How about adding MASC into the game so we can have our beloved MASC equiped mechs ... with one caveat.

Figure out at what max speed the lag shield kicks in, and then limit the size of the engine + MASC to below the lag shield speed.

Viola!

Mechs with MASC and no lag shield. :o

It doesn't even have to be a problem--MASC barely does anything on the heavier 'mechs, they will go nowhere near game breaking speeds.

The Firemoth and the Flea are the problem. We should be able to get every other MASC 'mech in the game without worrying about lag shields kicking in at 170+.

I think this will be the first Gargoyle build I test drive, surprisingly cool in smurfy:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...187eddf86aa303e

I'll use two groups--arms together for 6 and the two in the CT separate to avoid ghost heat.

Might wait a week or so until the queue dies down though.

So how is it? Does it suck or does it pwn the nubs?

I love this mech, it's ideal for my aggressive play. Stick it with three fast heavies, or with a pack of meds and it's in it's element! surprisingly agile and quick I've managed three loadouts that pack enough punch to get the job done.
I am enjoying this monster, a LOT.

Now that's good to hear.

It's about time the old 'Goyle to get some love.

Garoyle in Solaris style duel play is match for a Dashi (aka Direwolf). It is not match on the 12 v 12 map. I am not sure why the Maskari (85 ton clan mech) fielded by the clans is so watered down.

Since Behmoth's are unseen now by clans don't expect to see one those.

The King Crab though is what Comstar fielded along with Black Knight's and Highlander's to defeat the clans during the first invasion in batchall for the Innersphere or a truce. King Crab is either a serious brawler or dangerous anti clan support mech.

Someone made comment about Masc. There is one assault that depends on MASC that we cannot see effectively used. 3055 Bezerker a 100 ton modified atlas chassis that has head flamer with Axe with MASC. Moves something like speed 9 on battletech maps with masc engaged. Allowing it to catch and literally cleave anything but a light.

Messed with a mastered A model today for a couple of games. One arm with 2 ERLL, the other with 4 ERML... so a Laser Vomit again.

Bumped the armour up then went hunting my last headshot to 50 and surprise... got it on the 3rd game.

I thought the Wench-O-War would lose arms easily but not so far. I quite like it.

Looks stupid though.

The funny piston things going up and down each side of the pilot with the washing machine spinning thing at the bottom is a bit odd too. And the Jumbojet throttle controls
