I thought the Black Knight would run away with this.

Soooooooo hard to pick but I'm gonna go Grasshopper... the JJ's are the deal-breaker for me, plus possibly ECM variant in the future

Grasshopper is a much more interesting mech than the Black Knight. Besides the Awesome is also an energy boat and only 5 tons heavier.

I voted Grasshopper, ultimately though I want Hatchetman and melee weapons because that would be the best weapons to take legs and arms off

This thread is yet another example of how PGI leadership shows poor decision making skills.
Adding more mediocre mechs is such a waste of development effort which should be dumped either into fixing existing systems (name one, every system in the game could use improvement) or, you know, maybe working on CW.

<sigh>

Are you really going to make me defend PGI here, dude? After a long and proud history as an exiled Islander?

First of all, we have no idea whether these mechs will be mediocre. A 75 ton laser boat in a game dominated by heavy mechs sounds anything but mediocre, it sounds like it would potentially be the best Inner Sphere mech in the game.

Second, PGI needs to sell mechs to pay their employees. It sucks that they haven't reached their goals by now, but they can't just eliminate their most important source of income while they finish working on Community warfare.

Third, they're already working on Community Warfare, full blast. And they've given us a deadline and shown signs of improvement from what we're used to. We're seeing infinitely more information than we used to. Things are moving in the right direction.

Your ill-conceived criticism is giving proper Islanders a bad name.

Battletech- Black Knight. One of my favorite mechs
MWO w/melee- Black Knight. Clan buster which is essentially the McKinnons mech from the lore.
MWO as it is- Grasshopper which is a pretty bland mech in BT but will be way more fun here.

I'll quote from the Battletech Technical Readout (3050):
"Heat buildup is he most noticeable problem connected with the Black Knight. Even with twenty heat sinks, the 'Mech can still overheat quickly if the pilot is not careful wen selecting which weapons to fire."

I'm voting for the Gasshopper for the Missile Hardpoint, and Jumpjets.

Grasshopper! Both are iconic in their own way, but I think the Grasshopper has the edge given the current line up of IS mechs. I also like bobble eyes.

But I don't care either way really... can we have a Clan mech poll too? The Grasshopper is just a more attractive target.

Gotta admit, I'm both surprised and pleased to see the Grasshopper holding up so well. Heck, for a while there it was pulling ahead of the Black Freaking Knight.

Keep it up, entomologists of MWO! If the 'Hopper keeps the gap narrow enough against a runaway favorite like the Knigget, they may yet throw it in the development queue!

Both are cool. But I'd prefer the Grasshopper. Seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Nova + Nova Cat + Super Nova + ECM Kitfox. Three gas giants and an eclipse. Giving the military term "Star" a new meaning.
