I would have voted for the Rakshasa just because it needs a facelift that badly. And it has an undeservedly bad reputation because it is an IS clone of the Timber Wolf.

See the post right below yours though.

Kinda a dumb poll. Black Knight is an iconic battlemech vs a very much less known Grasshopper.

To be honest either is good for the heavy weight class. Currently with only one of each tonnage, the upper heavies are underrepresented.

Personal preference is something I can bunny hop around in. Always did like the Grasshopper chassis, more so than the Black Knight, and that's how I voted.

I wanted to vote the Black Knight to see Alex's artwork for it. But I went with the Grasshopper because we could use a 70 ton JJ mech. And the Black Knight is winning anyways. So I might get to see that artwork anyways xD

Voted Grasshopper, due to it being one of the best Pre-Clan Heavies I've ever used in TT. Moderate speed, good Jump capability, and a blistering array of energy weapons made this a brilliant mech. Don't know much about the Black Knight, other than that it was on the cover of the Mech 4 Expansion that I never bothered to play. Went straight from Vengeance to Mercenaries.

On Twitch now: Russ said the Grasshopper concept art looks terrific. Come on, show us! (that will take away many votes from the BK)

Ironic, considering that the Grasshopper was much more prominent in CBT - and one of the better 3025 designs.

The Black Knight mostly got the distinction of having original concept art that didn't look like a terrible industrial accident had occurred at the box factory.

A distinction I would call "not being part of TRO3025".

Except it's all energy only in all variants.

Simple, i'd suggest HP inflation. 1 variant with 2 energy slots extra, one with 2 ballistic, one with 2 missile. Place each HP in the same 2 locations on each unit and quirk to please. I'd suggest ST myself, and maybe a hero variant with 1 of each type split between ST and CT. There's ways without replacing other similar weighted mechs, it's just... adding complexity to stock mech values. HBK 4G can run with only 1 ballistic, but the extra 2 do give some play space (not much but the first off the top of my head).

Edit: (expletive) phone.

anyone voting because of the mechwarrior 4 expansion... Come on guys, that was a horrible expansion. The mech itself was nothing special, the story was absolutely terrible. You basically butchered all the lead characters from the original game! like wth were they thinking, turning them into the bad guys?

I voted the grasshopper because I want to see a mech with more varied configurations.

Black knight, always.

We need a good 75 tonner, so to hell with the grasshopper.

I could live with a re-imagining of the Black Knight's original art. ( Given how gifted the art team is) but the MW4 Black Knight wasn't a Black Knight. It was a one off Frankenstein Mech put together by the Colonel of the Black Legion Mercenaries.

That being said... I voted Grasshopper, because it wasn't in any MW game I think ( perhaps MW2: Mercs ? )

Blackknight simply cause we NEED more 75 ton mechs and there arn't many other options during the time era currently.

I voted Black Knight for 3 reasons:

1) More hardpoints than the Grasshopper. The 'hopper's single missile hardpoint in the Head doesn't offset this much.

2) Possibility of wielding a sword down the road. When melee attacks come into the game, the Clanbuster variant will have a sword for double melee damage.

3) High probability of being the first heavy IS 'mech to have ECM. The Clans already have a heavy ECM 'mech with the Hellbringer/Loki and the Black Knight is the best choice for its IS counterpart. Why? The Atlas D-DC never mounted ECM but it got ECM supposedly because it was a "command" 'mech. The first line of the Black Knight's description says: "The Black Knight was introduced in 2578 both as a front-line combatant and as a command battlemech".
