This is an ill informed point. If engine caps end up being identical to that of the Orion and Cataphract (1X, 2X, and 3D), which have the same tonnage and base speed as the Black Knight and Grasshopper (respectively), then the Grasshopper would be slightly faster than the Knight with both using maxed out engines.

The lower engine cap would only be relevant in that the Knight would be able to squeeze 1 more additional heat sink into the engine.

Engine rating controls more than max speed... Your mech's agility is reliant on rating.

Weight also matters. PGI generally makes lighter mech to require less rating to be agile than heavier mech. In the case of Grasshopper, it has 280 rating engine while the BK has 300--making the difference 20 rating. However, due to the GHR being 5 ton lighter, it will have just as much speed and agility as the BK, except GHR has JJs for even better mobility.

I voted Grasshopper, because the Black Knight seems meh.

Voted for the Grasshopper for a simple, sane reason...

The Blackknight never impressed me when its homers played it in tabletop, but the Grasshopper was often still kicking late in a match even with severe damage.

TL/DR: The blacknight is a great mech for bad players who think it will look cool while being ruthlessly gunned down.

Since there are BK variants with JJ's I'm not sure why you keep harping on it being such a difference.

Can you name a canon variant with jets that is timeline appropriate? Because there aren't any. At all. Even if you ignore timeline, there are none. Sure, there's an offhand comment in the text write-up mentioning that one or two (may) have been custom refitted, but that falls into the same category as refitting them with ballistic and missile weapons: no canon examples.

I have reason to believe Russ and Alex will take the lore into account and give one of the variants jump jets. It specifically says in sarna that few if any survived into the 31rst century, and some were modified with non standard components and jump jets. If there is so few of them around, 1 variant with added jump jets makes sense.

Most of us can read just fine, you don't need to use a shouting font. And, once again, according to lore, there are no canon examples of jump jet sporting Black Knights. Excepting Heroes, we get factory variants only.

If you already voted for the Black Knight, please reconsider your vote.

http://mwomercs.com/...eavy-mech-poll/

Take off those rose colored glasses and see the Black Knight for what it really is--a cousin to the AWS-8Q. An energy spamming mech should ideally have Jump Jets to help control where it fights, to pull off snapshots, and that means the Grasshopper is better choice.
*The biggest reason why the 70 ton CTF-3D is Tier 1 while 75 ton Orion is Tier 4 is because of jump jets.
5 ton difference means crap in comparison.

Should PGI derp on the mech size/hitbox and the upcoming Heavy is not XL friendly, it is also better to have the Grasshopper with CT slot so at least it can zombie better than the Black Knight.

Hell, even Sarna says it.

Vote for the Grasshopper. At least that mech has a chance to appear in serious matches.

On TT this was a VERY underrated Mech, AND one of the Variants is a Fellow Michigander's! Gravedigger... I smell Hero!
That sounded better in my head! ead! ead! ead! :D

If the Gravedigger is the hero for the Grasshopper, it has ECM. I am already salivating.

I've been promoting the grasshopper in pug matches. Hopefully it'll help. Grasshopper FTW!

What's wrong with choosing function over form? What's wrong with choosing the better mech--the Grasshopper?

If people want their over-hyped pug only mech so badly, then vote for the BK I guess. *shrugs*
