Last time I got NARC'ed I was on the new map, in my ECM triple AMS Kit Fox, guess what, I lived! I just had to get into some cover, and let the AMS ring out like a boss.

Most maps, (Not all) have some place that you can go, to avoid LRM rain, the best cover against it though, is be inside the 180m dead zone for IS LRM's....

Yes, and radar deprivation is really a good module :)

Tag requires line of sight though, that's difficult for a scout to keep up without giving his position away and being fried by AC20's or LRMs.

Scouts NARC. Missileboats TAG.

Also, do you know what happens when you take NARC and your team doesn't have missiles? Nothing. You feel useless...and occasionally pinpoint where a DDC is for your team.

NARC + teamwork hits HARD...as it should...but just like several mechs all shooting at your center torso together, isn't OP. It WORKS...that's not the same thing.

There should be a NARC notification for the pilot of the NARCed mech. Other than that, NARC is fine.

They COULD add a consumable or weapon system that removes NARC, though. Why not? If it's a weapon system, it would have to be the same total weight as the NARC system itself, or more, and also use ammo, otherwise NARC would become pointless. Or maybe the weapon system could only remove NARCs on team members, not on yourself.

A consumable might be better. Might also cut down on air/artillery strikes a bit.

Well if they were to treat it like in TT, where the beacon can be destroyed through damage done to the target....

That's also an option, although I think it would make NARC almost redundant. Would certainly have to eat more than 2 ML shots to still be viable.

Nobody like a NARC.

"Snitches get stitches" So grab some buddies and some shanks and teach the prison lesson!

That being said, you are likely not using cover enough. LRMs are easy for newbs at low elo, hard to use at higher elo because experienced players keep moving and use cover like a paranoid government spy and when they return fire, its concentrated team effort that kills any mech quickly. 'Quickly' is the key, LRMs are a slow inefficient weapon at high level play.

It did at one time, but the number of LRM missile hits (from a single launcher) was knocking off the pod instantly. (I think it was 20% chance when damage applied. The problem was, that was 20% chance for each missile that hit. So an LRM5 that hit would do 20% x 5... And off it went.)

I think most people are overlooking the 6lrm5 anomaly here. LRM 5's are recharging WAAY too quick and allowing a lot of smaller mechs = larger mechs with missiles, as well as making builds such as the 6 lrm5 vultures and catapaults supercheese when paired with one one or 2 narc throwers on a team. Maybe lrm ammo needs to weigh more to eliminate spamming. There needs to be more balance with lrms/narc working as they do. split a team of lrmboats and narc throwng ecm lights and the enemy is done with lrms raining at 90 degree angles on them. One narc and any assault is dead in <10 sec. that is truly op when he is standing in a frikin' city with buildings all around. The reason to take smaller lrm racks should be that your mech can't carry a larger one. The DPS increase with smaller ones needs to go away IMHO.

Hi!

I use a 6x LRM 5 Catapult, and I still slaughter people without NARC's or Tags.
Nothing will save people from people who are using weapons to thier maximum capability.

Honestly he is pretty much right, depending on the map. Sure River city or crimson you CAN take cover or hide, But on alpine/caustic YOU WILL DIE. Its ridiculous. If you are in a somewhat slow mech and get narced on caustic, while the enemy has solid lrms, you are going to die no matter what you do. Amusing your team has no ECM nearby and little ams. Though this is usually more of a problem on non pug matches.

i am always for LRMs getting two changes and this is from someone who does use them to boat at times. Obviously, they need to get away from the TT ruleset

1. Increasae the minimum range for both IS and Clan Make it like 250m to 300m
2. Remove the Clan minimum damage junk.
3. Maybe slow them down.

i think just increasing the minimum range would do wonders.

So you're all for making LRMs completely worthless? Great plan.

I just played 4 games narcing only 1 cata had lrms all 4 times. I think match maker is already nerfing this for you :)

No kidding. Out of 4 matches for today's Assault challenge, 2 of them have given me no spotting bonuses at all, because there were maybe 2 mechs on my side that actually had LRMs. So in those matches I was basically dedicating over 10% of my mech's weight to a paperweight launcher.

In the two PUG matches where missiles were in play it was effective, but none of the kills came from missile fire. Seems like it's working as intended.

I personally only have one gripe with NARC and that is you should get a big warning light in your cockpit that says, "YOU HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY NARC!!!"

Seriously that is the only thing broken about it. I mean every mech except the one affected by NARC knows about the NARC'ed mech??? Come on that is just total BS. The only time I have ever died to NARC has been due to the fact, I didn't realize it until it was too late. Usually it is along the lines of, "Crap, I have been targeted by LRMs, better drop out of line of sight" then 5-10 seconds later going, "Frack!!! I must be NARC'ed because I have dropped out of line of sight but the missiles are still coming.....MUST FIND COVER NOW!!!" but by that time it is too late because about 1000 missiles are on the way and you have already wasted 10 seconds thinking just getting out of line of sight to break lock is all you need to do.

I think a fun warning would be sudden sparks shooting from the controls or the decorative parts of the Hud Screen flickering would be a great indicator. It wouldn't really affect it, but it would let you know a strong EM emitter is on your mech.

Its ridiculous, you get Narced and everyone on the map within 1000m fire missles at you. Standing behind coverage doesn`t work becouse of the stupid LRM arc. Its literaly death sentence. Needs to be corected becouse it`s game breaker. There is no protection. I have tried powering down mech, doesn`t work either.

Actually, 1100m when using the LRM range extender. Just sayin...
