The patch notes are excellent. Thanks for all of these improvements and I look forward to seeing the new matchmaker in action.

Did they remove the negative quirks for the Highlander & the Victor in this patch? I thought I read that was supposed to happen today,

That is happening with the complete IS quirk pass. That's set to either be the 21st of this month, or the 4th of November. It depends on when they get the initial pass of IS quirks completed, as they're all going to be released at once.

LIKE: No Trial Mechs showing

DISLIKE: •Game Mode Preferences

•New to this build, the Game Mode selections made in the Launcher sub-menu no longer are discrete exclusions of non-checked modes.
•A check next to a game mode now means it is a preferred game mode.
•A non-checked game mode now means it is not a preferred game mode.
•None of these checks guarantee inclusion or exclusion of any of the game modes.

Friends in Slow Support Mechs already voicing displeasure.
REASON: None of these checks guarantee inclusion or exclusion of any of the game modes.

yay for no more trial mechs in my mechlab!

But seriously if you are going to force me into river city assault PLEASE fix the turret range and spawn locations. I would rather play terra therma all day long in an energyboat. Base assault in river city is just not fun.

It is fun if one is on the citadel side!

I noticed that as well. Came here to post it up, and well, had to re-post my original comment since it got magically deleted.

Woowee just quit a match for the first since since I started playing in closed beta. Thanks new matchmaker you're following lock step behind the great PGI decisions of yore.

Amazing how much this game hates the players preference. Here I was hoping we'd be able to select which map we drop on (allowing more tailoring of loadouts) but instead we can't exclude game modes now? Assault and conquest can get bent. Just another nail in the coffin...
you want to play certain modes, than play private matches. There are many here that like modes and maps you dont, so is it fair that I cant play on the ones I like because you dont like them? I dont like to always play the death match game modes but i play them when they come up. Why? Because other members of my unit do like those game modes. Im a team player and have learned to play all modes and all maps. Its not that hard really ;)

I hope you are now prepared to have alot of people just leave the match when they are forced to play a match type they just dont want to play.
I will be exiting any conquest game i get voted into, im not here to play a game mode i hate.

You're right. You know, I think its a good thing we can't select which map we play on. But I'd really appriciate it if I didn't have to play against any assault mechs... or mechs with autocannons. Hopefully they'll decide our weapons loadouts too. Maybe my key configurations? You know playing against people with macros and gaming mice is a challenge so lets see if we can regulate that too.

People like you are nearly as much a problem as this companies drunk-at-the-wheel management.

omg LRMs range module - why? WHY? To shoot from base to base?

You do realize that LRM's have one of the shortest ranges for a long range weapon?
It can only outrange a Machine gun and AC20 in the ballistics group. The majority of ballistic weapons have close to twice the Range of an LRM.

large laser, ER Large laser, PPC, ERPPC all out range it, in the case of the ERPPC it has almost double the range of an LRM.

A clan Medium laser has a max range with range module equal to the LRM's range.

I have already heard a lot of chatter with people saying this, and also saying they don't care about win/loss ratio or KD from now on.

We'll see how long that lasts, some were already talking about other titles they are wanting to play since MWO is getting long in the tooth.

EDIT: Paying to play private matches to guarantee a game mode..??
They ALL laughed, every single one of them.

I don't know why people despise conquest so much. It's rarely played as anything other than death match anyway.

Nice patch. Trial mechs in their own tab so I won't be confused why there is a Orion in my mechlab anymore.

Weren't the jump jet thrust changes supposed to come with this patch? Didn't read anything about it in the patchnote. Maybe I'm blind... or it will come next time.

I don't think that the heat penalty will have a big affect. When you lose one of your side torsos you probaly already lost a few weapons.

Nah, not always the case..

Some people don't like capping bases in Direwolves, and they don't want to run anything other then that for the time they get to play at night.

FYI, I don't own a Direwolf.

im not tying to be a PROBLEM. And i do see where you are coming from. But things like Marcos is something that even i said from the start should not be allowed. Yet PGI lets that go. I agree with you there. As for Assaults or any mech with Auto-cannons is part of the game and we all have to learn to play with them or against them. As for gaming mice, if you cant beat them, join them. They really do make the game a bit easier when you have all the buttons you need on one mouse :)

Im not trying to be an ass, just think all the crying over something that PGI is actually tying to do to make the game fair, is just not needed from the gamers.

Did you miss the Town Hall meeting, Multiple forum posts detailing out why this change was in the works and the Forum Poll asking players if they would like this system? There was a LOT of communication that this was coming and overall player feedback was in support of this feature when you look at the implications of WHY it was being implemented, especially since this is step one for us to be able to vote on maps. Having this voting system in place is what will allow them to to implement the map voting system. Also while some people 'might not care about matchmaking ELO' it still effects them and they are just being ignorant if they think Matchmaking being forced to make poor matches wasn't a problem.

You would have to have read the feedback thread for Russ' explanation of how it works to realize that I am not against the idea of this. You would not have to read that to realize that I am simply put off buy the quickness of which they made this change (in comparison to many other supposedly major changes they've made which took forever), and without any real thought being put into it. Your rant was for naught.

My go to source for patch notes is still: http://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes

That beautiful URL that never changes -- maybe you could put the patch notes there first (if ever)?

thats fine lol. Let people play their Direwolves or Atlas for that matter, these larger mech are not meant to be base capping anyway lol. Some people need to understand how "role warfare" works. The quick small lights and mediums rush for the caps, the slower mediums most heavies and assaults support the fast guys and keep the enemy away fom the fast guys so the fast guys can cap lol.

If a Direwolf is capping a base than there is a real problem lol. Im not saying they should never cap or help out with a cap, but their first priority should not be capping anyway. It should be keeping everything else away from the cap so your fast small guys can do their job.
