Even if the feature doesn't stay I appreciate this fair analysis. For many it won't matter if the matches are better they simply don't care, they want to avoid certain game modes.
I can respect people stating it that plainly on what matters to them.

I am saving your post. It will be very useful to use once the poll results are put into question for arguing that people were misled.

They were. The poll is biased to get the answer they want, not an honest vote
How about
A.) I dont to be able to pick my game mode
B.) I want to be able to pick my game mode

Yes I don't have that functionality yet. I also do not want to remove any resources from CW to accommodate this poll. We need to live like this for a while longer."

The bolded part being the part Im talking about where he says they cant roll it back "to accomodate this poll"
Makes it kinda pointless, no?
And no; Id never alt-f4 when playing as I drop with an extremely good (good as in good guys, I dont do competitive so I dont know where they stand) MC and would never slap their faces like that
That's Russ saying he'd like to have the poll right in the game, but cannot, as all resources are working on CW, in response to a persons post. He was not saying that if it is voted out, that we just have to deal with it a while longer. It will get pulled out next patch if it's voted down, or nothing will happen if the vote is yes.

Id like to see him clairify that really cause the way I read it isnt that he's talking about the poll, that he's taking about the change that "we'll have to deal with for now"

Of course we will roll it out. I will roll it out Oct 21st if not in a hotfix before then.

If I don't get my way I'm taking my ball and going home. Whine about having to play a different mode once in a blue moon. Seriously I hate Skirmish. It's the same tactic every time. Run to the pre-determined fighting spot, and duke it out. That's it.
Assualt, well the only ones trying for the base are lights, and that's just not healthy. On top of that, if you do actually go for the base, and/or capture it, then you get cussed out, and taunted because you didn't fight to the end. So in other words, someone from Skirmish camp ended up choosing this as an option, and has their panties in a bunch.
Conquest - Don't you dare try and cap anything. You get your mech over here and fight it out. What the hell are you thinking??? That's the standard version.
So - The skirmish people queue up for everything, then ***** about getting something else. Some just quit and leave because if they aren't getting what they want, then everyone can suffer. Screw adapting, or just not being a knob. They are running home to cry to mommy because they didn't get their way.
Current choice, we all get something we don't want now and then. This cause us to man/woman up, put on our big boy pants, and actually act like adults. Whiney little kids need not apply.
Or I save myself the aggravation and just leave...consumerism at work, Consider it this way. I like to drive pickup trucks. If Ford stops making them I won't buy anything from them. Why, I don't like cars. Choice is a good thing, everyone had the ability to purchase in essence what they wanted. Now they are forcing something we don't want on some of us.
I only ever played one game mode...because its what I enjoyed I don't have any masochistic tendancies so I won't punish myself by doing something I don't enjoy especially in a game.
Thier method of abrogating thier responsiblity for choice to players by delegating a descision so a subset of players does not hunt with me. I had choice they took it away, why do people feel the need to force others to do what they want when freedom of choice give everyone the game modes they wanted?
PGI knows my spending habits...it was substantial, that has stopped will stop I won't patch nor play until this goes away, its the final straw lets say. More decisions like this and MWO will become Transverse. Yea I went there.

I can see the ambiguity, but I believe he is referring to dedicating resources to coding an "online poll" for those playing the game versus visiting the forums.
Where he says "we'll just have to live like this a while longer" I believe he is talking about the poll implementation, not the mode voting feature. Others have already pointed out that he has said that the change can be reverted with the next patch.

I think you missed the posts where Russ said that the large Elo variance existed in the group queue. The solo queue was just fine.
I suggest you withdraw your vote for now and start reviewing the pertinent information with regard to this issue. Once you have done that, you can always recast your vote.

The problem with the change is that....
Group A (which likes all maps and enjoys playing them all at random)
Group B (players that like specific maps, and want to play those exclusively)
With the new system in place...Group A is given exactly what they want, by being able to queue for all 3 map types, while Group is is told their way is unaaceptable, and are FORCED to play modes they dont want too. Group A is given 100% of their choice, while Group B is given 0%
In the original system, Group A was given 100% of their choices by being able to queue for all map types, and Group B was equally given 100% of their choices, by being able to queue for what they want.
The New system completely favors 1 play style, while destroying the other.
The Old system gives equality to both groups.
THIS.

I accept how you feel and can respect it. But this is a statement that is unfair. I mean we truly felt we followed a process on this feature implementation that was asked for by the community. Ask you guys and listen. We felt that is exactly what we did.
Okay did we misunderstand? or maybe the original poll should not have been run until the better explanations were provided? Perhaps so - that is why we are running the poll again. Speak as a community now and if necessary I will roll out the feature no later than the Oct 21st patch.

Meh. This is why I avoid Skirmish. Too many Skirmish players cop an attitude if anyone expects them to engage their legs and move.

It doesn't matter what veteran players that spend money think about this or any other "feature" of the game. You know you have done the wrong thing with this, otherwise you wouldn't be having a second poll after you forced it on us. Nothing new is being stated here that was not stated on the forum and poll posting before you went live with this. It is just like the feedback you got for ghost heat, UI 2.crap, LRM speed changes, 3/3/3/3, and a host of other issues. You don't care and only want to prove that you are right by forcing changes and proclaiming success. Show us your server populations before and after each of these changes if you want to prove something. Or better yet, give us a server population when we log in so that we can see for ourselves each time we play.
I have quit spending money on this game and am active encouraging others to do the same until we get some resolution on this and other much older barbs under our saddles. A lot of us were playing the Battletech franchise before most of the developers were even a thought. We have seen Battletech games, and companies, come and go. There will be another one if you fail. We are a patient fanbase.
