I was still a little skeptical up to now, but considering what's happened, PGI has crossed the line.

The very very good line.

Yes siree, PGI is back in my awesome books. It's been growing on me since IGP bit it, but I've always been a little skeptical, wary perhaps... but this patch and the reaction settles it. PGI are awesome. You guys can have my monies again.

Also welcome to my rant thread. *slams door*

So the community's reaction to the new voting system kind of surprised me. I mean, it was obvious there was going to be a little lash back, but I figured it wouldn't be much. And, I suppose that really I've only seen the same few on the whole 'Don't wanna play that mode' bandwagon so perhaps they're just being rather loud and exaggerating just how many really follow their line of thinking. I've fell into that trap before.

Yet here we are. I see a lot of angry threads. I see a lot of people that I haven't seen on the forums for ages, coming in to complain. I'm admittedly a little taken aback about how direct people have been. It's ranged from 'The game is ruined!' to 'I'm not paying PGI anything more'. I've even seen 'I payed not to play skirmish'... erm... no, you didn't, but that's another argument.

My irritation doesn't stem so much from whether people want the change, but rather the fact that we knew that this change was coming. The community, you know, those that actually wanted to make a change on the game, voted for it. PGI made sure they posted their intentions in great detail. PGI did what those people asked for. They did it well. They've proven already that it's made a difference ELO wise. Yet there's so much outrage regarding how this ruins the game for some.

EDIT: Right, so, I'm aware the original poll wasn't open for very long. A lot of people didn't see it, I know. I agree that it could have been open longer, though considering the new poll I'm not sure the result is going to be very different. However, after that poll they did post a lot on it. This didn't really come out of nowhere- people did have the time to object more than they did, if they felt it was necessary. So perhaps my 'irritation' comes more at the volume and intensity of complaints now, even though we all knew this was coming before hand.

What you like playing, which modes you hate, which ones you'd rather never see, that's up to you. I fully understand that people absolutely hate certain modes, and I know why people feel cheated in some ways. Everyone has opinions... though you probably should have expressed them in the prior polls, rather than bottling them up until now.

Rightio, onto the point.

Instead of ignoring this, instead of giving up screaming "how does thy please this lot?!", they've made another poll. And I'd imagine that it means that they'd be willing to remove the voting system, despite the work they put into it, if the majority wants it.

That's pretty incredible. That they're still willing to listen. I've seen a lot of people say 'PGI has ruined it again!', yet by all accounts they're doing damn well.

So, kudos to you PGI. Kudos for sticking with us, for braving the mobs, for persisting to listen to us and for showing that you're willing to develop features that the community will enjoy and benefit from. The poll looks incredibly close right now, so it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. I only ask that the community refrain from being so hostile, since this isn't the PGI that we once knew.

I agree, the vote system allowed the MM to build much more even matches. I am happy with this.

Well, to be fair, neither did I... but I'll be 100% certain to pick up the next Inner Sphere pack to come out. I'm yet to spend any real money the except for a bit of MC and the Timber Wolf alacarte (I missed the founder's/phoenix). :P

I have no idea what's going on, but I'll chime in and say kudos. People have been whining like hell lately and from what I can tell, it's spoilt brats with their juice box's wanting mommy to buy them the new GI Joe kinda stuff.

Man up! grow some janglies! play the game or get the hell out and go play hello kitty island adventure!

The main reason I have both clan packs in full is because I thought PGI sounded like a bunch of rad dudes. Turned out I was right.

There will always be professional whiners who scream no matter what is done just for the sake of screaming. PGI in my eyes have cleared up their act and I am happily paying them money again. Do I like the stomps? Nope but then if you compare this game with others the level of stomping is acceptical (looking at you WoT and War Thunder).

The whiners will whine if there are no polls, they will whine if they think that PGI do not act quickly enough if they have a poll and they WILL whine once they have voted and PGI acts on the vote, but the vote did not swing their way, with these types PGI is in a lose lose situation, the problem is that these whiners are very vocal and therefore are ever present in the forums more so that the vast majority of the players who are liking what they see and are not so vocal. The funniest thing is that most of the whiners do not pay a single penny to play the game.

The major reason why stomping happens here is that the WoT and WT players come here and use the same tactics that lead to them failing there namley running off alone and without support and refusing to use the mini map, it really is as simple as that, plus the fact that 90% of these players still do not know what the R key is there for.

PGI, they are improving their game... asking community, what will they think of next :)
Anyhow easy vote, I play whichever game mode comes up and then I'll adapt... and sometimes suffer not-perfect games, life is not perfect.

Given this is the second time this poll as been run:

http://mwomercs.com/...60#entry3799060

And given the number of players that just want to play one mode. I would think it will be closer this time.

I'll join this bandwagon of positive mental attitudes, well done everybody. If anything, I think the new poll being so close to 50/50 is testament to PGI doing it right, if 50% want it and 50% don't want it then it's job done balance is restored. I really love the new HUD design with the rewards that pop up in there. Turn off ingame chat and have the kill rewards and damage assists in the hud like that and it's almost a simulator lol. I'll 100% be buying the next IS mech pack and I've recently purchased another lump of MC :)

Keep going PGI, you're doing good. Now if you'd only look at support ticket 144644 through the email system for me I'd be over the moon. *hint* *hint*

I agree the handling of the situation is by the book. Kudos to PGI

In the light of fairness though you gotta admit that the poll prior to the patch was closed too fast and not brought to attention of the players enough to prevent the backlash we now see. So calling out people that missed the pre-patch poll is harsh and not in place. It was SUPER easy to just miss it even if you're a regular forumite.

But I am on board with ya when you say that everyone that doesn't vote on the current poll should shuddup afterwards if he doesn't like the result.

You should warn people before you get to the blatant lies section of your post. The rest of them were just hazy lie-like constructs, but this is patently false.
