If it's a good match I'll stay.
If I'm watching my team get ggclosed, I leave.

If its a good match like 7 to 6 kills with a teetering battle still raging on.

Of course. How else can you see people using various tactics you may not even thought of? Or see how mechs and weapons do that you are thinking of buying?
Most of the people I observe are terribads, spraying their weapons all over the landscape. Strange how generally the worse shots survive to the end.
Occasionally you see the real aces who can dance while hitting cockpits at 900m and dodging laser fire like they are freaking Luke Skywalker or Wonder Woman in the case of torso twisting those Magic Bracelets...

I usually watch just to see how people load out their mech's and if it is effective or not.

I tend to stay and watch so I can witness the one who killed me get killed. Aside from that I like to give tips to the ones on my team (when and where applicable) for instance.. I'll spectate someone who is using SRM/SSRM which has a max range of 270M without extenders (I don't know what the max extender is) and they're trying to hit someone over 400M away from them. They're excited, using their medium lasers and scratching at their opponents so they think they're hitting them with missiles too when they're not so I remind them. "Your missiles don't work like lasers.. they're exploding before they reach your target, save some ammo." Some say "Oh, thanks." others say "u dead, be quiet like dead"
Then there are the ones who are so focused on one target zoomed in and completely miss the enemy up off in the corner of their HUD. "Hey! (player name being spectated) Up and to your side!" Sometimes I'm quick enough to notice for them other times.. not so quick.
Then I'll see someone overheating way too much instead of allowing themselves to cool down before popping out from behind cover to return fire. I've saved a few lives like that but the rest end up blowing themselves up or accidentally shutting down in the open.
Then there are times when I'll see my team each having a target of their own.. I'll say "FOCUS FIRE ON (target 'mech everyone is near)" sometimes it works and other times they continue hitting whatever they were hitting.
Understandably it's annoying when someone piggybacks on you and starts their backseat driving rant but I never comment on anyone's build in a negative way. I wish there was a feature where we can boot/block certain spectators from our HUD when they start going on with "omg! u haf DAT on ur 'mech? uninstall now plz, u suk"
Some builds are impressive and I mention that "Damn you have a nice setup."

I stick around so I can laugh at the inevitable "OMG STUPID N00B TEAM" rage posts coming from the dead guy peanut gallery.

I'll often watch.

I always stick around. I've helped win games long after I'm dead by calling targets or playing "Company Commander". Some people panic when they're the last one left, especially if there's a fair amount of weight left on the other time. I can say from experience that having a voice in your ear to calm you down and focus helps a lot.

I hope that never becomes an option for regular players as it has the potential to give a severe unfair advantage being able to report remaining enemy locations/'mech types. You'd practically be a mobile UAV then.
When are we getting the cool over the field view when we Die?
