You would take a STD over clan XL?

I sure wouldnt like to lose 2/3 of my firepower for this slight ST nerf.

Im calling BS!

Let me show you the simple math of options vs. not options.

Clan 300 XL - Locked: 15.5 Tons

Now let's look what happens when you can customize your mech.

STD Engine 300: 25 Tons
Endo: 5 Tons savings
Total cost = 20 tons

20 tons - 15.5 tons = 4.5 tons

There are few assault mechs where that trade off would not be worth it - and for mech like the Dire Wolf with 50+ tons of podspace, this would really the better option even before any CXL nerfs.

For 4.5 tons you force the enemy team to CT you, you become less vulnerable to LRM damage and can protect your one major weak spot better.

You give up that customization with a clan mech, that part makes perfect sense.

What you get is specific advantages with that.

I feel those advantages are still there for some of the clan mechs but not all of them, yet we still have players pushing for even more nerfs.

There is a breaking point, where it will eventually no longer make sense to make that trade off.

Heh, I would trade giving a STD engine to Clan Mechs if it meant my Atlas and Victor could use lighter weapons and have the insane amount of Hard Points Clan Mechs have.

I have not played enough since this change to make a strong conclusion on it yet, but I like the idea of it so far. I want to see how it plays out and how the IS quirks drop. If they are a bit too powerful it gives PGI a chance to bring clan lasers up a little bit again which would always be nice. They have been fast and dynamic with their changes so I am hopeful this will happen.

Of course you would, because IS mechs can customize their builds.

Would you make that trade if you could never change the Structure to endo? Could never remove Ferro if it came with it?

How about if every Victor & Highlander came with maximum Jump Jets?

Or maybe I can make a list of stock engine speeds that you could never change?

I stripped my DDC and Boar's head of their stock 300 engines long ago, and went for 340-350 STD and never regretted it.

The trade offs are still worth it for specific clan mechs, but not all of them. Several of them just have not weathered the rounds of nerfs well, combined with their innate chassis flaws.

I tend to build my Clan mechs symmetrically. If I lose a ST, I lose 50% of my weapons and 20% of my heatsinks. I become more heat efficient in actuality. Obviously I'd rather have the ST, but that's not the point.

The "nerf" affected my builds very little. I see neither cause for Clan tears nor IS cheers.

such fun game design, no one likes shooting their weapons anyway

Huh. I guess the ST rework is working properly then. Good work PGI!

Yep IS getting some love. Then we get to see if the Clan Mech owners wanted those clan mechs because they actually like them or if they are pay to winners. Either way I expect the whine of the clans to be legendary after the easy mode they have had for far to long.

If i was running a clan mech I would wipe the floor with any of the current clan pilots I see running around at the moment.

All i can say is prove me wrong.

You mean after all of the IS pilots whine and cried for nerfs, now they have enough balls to talk about how great they are.

If you think you are that badass of a pilot, revert all clan mechs to their initial release status along with the weapons.

Remember this is a game based on a timeline where the weapons used in war are being used in such timeline.

Clans had superior tech, its the whiny ass IS pilots that have to get mechs nerfed to be effective. Then it is cowards like yourself that come out and talk the talk, but we all know you can't walk the walk.

I personally don't care either way for Clan or IS mechs. I like the game either way, I just get sick of listening to all of the cry babies that suck at the game wanting nerf nerf nerf.

Hehe.
Still, i can agree that Clan mechs were too strong in the initial Version.
But i can as well agree that PGI is going to far with nurfing the Clans/pampering the IS (choose what you prefer).

If we're going to push to where Clan energy weapons are so weak after losing a ST the only thing it does is encourage more dakka boats and more gauss.

This, i totally do not like the nerf, because the nerf did nothign than again baising specific chassis and builds. And that is not bringing balance betwene two factions, its bringing imbalance between clan chassis. Do you think the dakka wolf cares? it doe snot. A laservomit cat will have nough DHS on the mechs left side to still be good. But all mechs on low tonnage like Nova, kit fox and adder, they suffer directly and totally form this 100% while the others again (like the heat nerf of CERML) hardly care.

hell, I still say clans mechs should also loose 20% or more speed when they loose a side torso.

I guess if half the folks are pissed about the nerf, and half wanted more nerf and did not get it, it must the the compromise that was needed.

Yes, but at least you're still alive. When an IS 'Mech with XL loses a side torso, they die.

Then make IS mechs with standards die when both side cts are gone. Zombie much?

Heard something about reducing speed to "untweaked" values. Ehh, could maybe live with that..

Heck, that seems normal on a Nova Prime when it has both it's torsos.

I do think that if the CT loses armor the outer line and is just down to internal structure and gets hit!! ,...each hit of 5 points damage or more should crit and 3 crits the Highest penalty. ON ALL MECHS! The penalties, ( heat ) can be spread to CT ( 2 ) and ST ( 1 ) before destruction on IS XL. , IS Standard ONLY CT ( all 3crits ) Clan XL STR ( 1 ) CT ( 1 ) STL ( 1 )..

The 2nd Liner had been always the stronger Clanmechs. Stone Rhino..No XL engine....No Omni mech. I can t await to get mechs wich I can Change like the IS mechs can...with Clantech!!! OK as Clan Coyote..I should LOVE Omni mechs....but the truth is....what we have now...is a shadow of what we builded. They are strong mechs..for shure. Can I Change my Pods when I get the Information wich planet we attack? No?

Clan IIc would not have build limitaions other than hardpoints, better yes but you are still restricted by hardpoints. But Clan weapons weigh less with less crits so there are advantages. Imagine how much crying would be going on for 2c mechs. But I feel It is only fair that when IS get Omni mechs we get our clan 2c and non Omni builds. But IS OMNi's are not gonna run as hot due to their weapons not being NERFED to HELL and BACK. IS BLACHAWK KU will not be stunned constantly with heat penalties like the Clan Blackhawk.
