Summoner. All day long. Arguably one of the worst mechs in the game.

Spend a chunk of c-bills on it, then spend a few million more on omnipods just so you can mount your 3 lasers.

Most weapons get blown off and leave you with 0 defense.

Such a shame PGI ruined such an iconic mech by making it more worse than most lights.

Aren't you glad you read up on the "Suckonner" for months prior to buying it? All those reviews and discussions on how terrible it was must have made a huge impact on your buying decisions, and your choice to spend money upgrading it.

Yeah, it's not terribly awesome. Maybe it'll get great quirks.

Um... no.

Try Locust, or Spider-5V. Then you'll see fail.

The vindicator is far worse. It's so bad you don't even see it in the underhive.

With the JJ quirks coming, I think we could at least have some fun with it.

Jump Streaking gets so much inflated damage, it's amazing. Of course, 900 damage and 0 kills isn't very good. It's outright bad.

You could just go full brawl with CSRMs...

Turn your summoner into a worse stormcrow. SRM30's the best it can do.

Summoner got hopps like Michael Jordan, Mess around with the omnipods, its not a heavy frontline mech, its a mobile weapons platform. mount big guns and hang behind the madcat while it takes the heat, you bring the pain.

Good builds include, 2lrg pulse 2 medium pulse, 2 machine guns,
gauss 4 medium
LRM boat
STREAK boat
dual ppc, streak 6
lots of stuff works with it,

the key to this mech is mobility, play it like a huge, tanky, griffon.

Yea I don't get it I like the summoners, granted Im forever stuck in mid level ELO brackets.....and I wouldn't take it in a 12 man.....but its fun with 2 LBX-5s and 4 medium lasers, a UAC/20 and 4 medium lasers, or 2 large pulses and 2 streak 6s. I can consistently get 300-600 damage with it, and anyone here can tell you, I suck. So if I can do it, it cant be that bad.

Sorry, but no Clan mech is fail compared to some IS Mechs alone due to the fact of Clan XL survivability alone without even considering the weapons
..Clan Players go back and play some of your IS XL engine builds for a memory refresher concerning this

Ah, but it can jump. DoomCrow can't do that.

It can just run in and out faster. If the JJ quirks are good, you'll be able to plant that 52 damage while airborne, which is fun.

If you hadn't noticed, I use a WubShee. I prefer Fun.

I will be picking a DoomCrow up when available, but I can't do that yet. I haven't even bought more than one Suckonner.

I built it for mindlessness.

It works well for that, until the Magic Jesus Boxes swarm.

5V is awesome. Load it up with JJ and you can go anywhere and snipe the whole map with your ERLL. Once you do that a few times you'll see its borderline OP.

Prior to JJ nerf summoner was pretty decent. It was bad compared to the TBR and probably not as good as a CTF.. but it wasn't a bad heavy mech.

Now? Well I don't really bother playing it anymore.

The Kintaro/Golden Boy - they needed to redesign it immediately after its release!

It was that bad of a walking CT it outclassed the Awesome as bad Mech by magnitudes of worse :D

Vindy can be tolerable. I made AA into dedicated support mech - TAG, BAP, NARC, twin AMS and a couple of ER Larges for long-range pings of opportunity. It's a kind of special fun. In solo queue NARC can be quite threatening, and missile hardpoint placement is fine for it (unlike damn arms). Vindy R - load with MPLs to scare lights, add SRM6 to fill the tonnage. Nod good, but better than SDR-5V I think.

X has stupid hardpoints though. Could've been better with 2E 2B in arms (I'm not a big fun of MG boating). I think I'll try minimally viable meta poptart with it first (I haven't purchased it yet).

Heh, Succoner is playable and may perform good, but the fact is a fact - it's a Medium in a Heavy slot. And that's why it sucks.

No idea what you are talking about. The Summoner is a fine mech.... I can give you my build if you need help to Summoner better.
