'soft' Game Mode Was Better

That's good and all, but why consider it Mechwarrior if its not Battletech? In fact, that's part of the problem... You want to hit 100% heat? HAVE FUN MELTING YOUR FLESH OFF. You heard me. 100% heat should have a 66% chance to KILL THE PILOT, with a stacking bonus every overheat.
Back on topic: the soft game mode created some of the best skill comparison matches I have played since re-joining this game at the beginning of 2013. The only real thing I can think of is bad players and comp teams bitched about having to play with and against people of their skill level instead of having higher elo teammates to carry them or other comp team members to give them a challenge and not just let them roll.
But no, lets just go back to having uneven matches and everyone kitted out to spam the objective. Oh wait, I forgot the worst part. People have been bitching about having to 'do conquest' but Conquest 96% of the time that I've played it has just been a TDM, no objective completion.

Oh wow, such an original and deep response. Its a game mode, not everyone wants to just kill the enemy team 100 times in a row either, what's your point?

Well, the bigger issue was needing to capture it for 3 minutes from red to blue, for each of the 5 squares.
I want to shoot robots, not stand in squares!
Balance may need to be required for the mode, but no one suggested this. They just bitched about the game mode til PGI had to change it a day later.

So you only play group Q?

Exactly.
That's why it's so essential that people who want to shoot robots get to play shoot robots-mode. If you like to capture points, you can play cap the points-mode #1 or #2.
So this way, I don't ever have to worry about caps, and can simply shoot robots all day.

1. Matchmaker isn't finding games quick enough. ***** to PGI about it.
2. Matchmaker is quick enough but I have to play games I don't want to now. ***** to PGI about it.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2.

I must not exist.
Games of "Just shoot dudes" get really boring, and those "Stand in squares" games just turn into "Shoot the dudes."
Most because of folk like you.

The matchmaker won't find games quicker until MWO has more players, which it won't ever get if they keep messing with the fun levels of the game.
For instance, declaring that you can't even select your game mode, private games cost money, grinding for c-bills takes forever, one new map in 10 months, IS side getting a new robot once in a blue moon, clan robots still hidden behind a paywall, clan gear OP as hell, IS reduced to the cheap second rate citizen alternative to elite clan master race gundams...
You know, the little things. Yes.

Impossible. I only ever play on skirmish. I've dropped on assault and conquest a handful of times since we got skirmish, and it's almost always on accident, or because there's an event going where I have to play on them to get whatever item they're giving out.

What if it was go there, grab the stuff and return to the drop zone? Now you have lights trying to steal resources to truck them off. Mediums to escort them. Heavies and assaults playing offensive or defensively in between.
The other game modes need to be fun and to reward the risks. Enemy base has turrets? You're gonna need to give me something more than "0 cbills" more than I would get for committing suicide immediately (25,000 cbills) for taking that risk. At least back in the day you got 100,000 cbills for taking the base in assault, as opposed to 25,000 just for playing and usually around 150,000 to 300,000 for total victory (kill everything or almost everything then take the base).
Made things much more dynamic.
Sadly before people will be receptive of the soft system... PGI needs to actually make the modes fun by making them more than "kill everyone with some half-baked side thingy that you could do if you want to really lose out on money."

50 seconds to neutral, then neutral is another 50. Then 50 to get to 100% blue.

Slight exaggeration.
Stand inside one by yourself.
You'll tick away about 1 minute.
Stand inside one completely owned by an enemy... 1/5th (3 * 5 = 15) of the match will pass by. At least 3 minutes.
Taking what was said above me, that's 2 minutes and 30 seconds so pretty damn close.

The capture point should have at the very least some cosmetic appearance of value and that structure, building, object should should have some interactive contribution to the act of capturing. It should never be as simple as just stoning there looking around.

Back in the day.
2012: (Commander Atlas gives information to team, coordinates efforts, defends base against attack; enemies SKIP easy targets to rush base for maximum payout!)
2013: (Largely uneven weight distribution in teams forces a very dynamic realm of combat; lights use base capture to lure in heavy enemy force and attempts to use it to pick them off.)
There seems to be a huge difference here.
And I'm honestly in favor of the 'old' ways.

I apologize for my attitude, I could have worded thing much better. I began drinking before eating and now that the food has soaked up some of the alcohol reading what I already wrote was fairly ******* sounding.
Unfortunately the system wasn't in place long enough and the players decided to ***** about the soft mode change instead of looking at the game modes and suggesting changes.

So how is that anyones fault when on most maps you move a dozen meters and you are in range of the enemies guns?
Not the players fault the maps are smaller than my back yard...

Alpine used to be great for Conquest.
Then, waaay back before we had hard selection, a bunch of tools decided that they needed to be able to capture driving 30KPH Brawler Attys. I: They whined until we ended up with what we have now.
So a great map for lights and mediums turned into "smaller cold Caustic" instead.

Another issue that, following the newest town hall from what I understand, is being looked into addressing for future maps. I believe they even talked about make the original, really small maps, accessible to 8 player matches in addition to the normal 12 player matches which I would totally be into seeing for variety and would actually speed up matchmaking as well.

I absolutely DESPISE conquest Alpine. Only map/mode I actually hate to play. The north west and south east areas of alpine have PERFECT areas for a cap point, but there are 3 point within shooting distance of one another? What?
