This is the first time in a long while that I've seen Quickdraws, Dragons, and Awesomes be viable, and people are complaining.

I know it's exciting isn't it.

Take Note: The only people complaining about the perks are people running clan mechs.

FYI.

I know right.

Woah woah woah... I would like everyone to stop and see this historic moment...

When someone said that LBX10s and DRAGONS are OP.

Brings a tear to my eye.

I've only started to feel like my Dragon is viable again. This patch has worked quite well in my opinion.

Whiny clanner whining, when he could have spent 20 minutes watching the dev log to find out that Clans are eventually getting a quirk.

Seriously, whining about a bunch of mechs that are finally becoming viable again. Seeing as how you only play clan mechs you probably forgot how difficult it has become for inner sphere mechs to even have a chance against clan mechs. The time of clan domination is over. It's time for a balanced game.

this is great... been playing clan mechs 90% of PUG drops because I've felt that I'd be letting the team down if I brought an IS mech...

perhaps it was placebo, but IS was just so underpowered and fmaybe these quirks will make them more balanced and we can see a good variety of mechs on the field.

Good stuff PGI!

To those die-hard Direwolf players... it's time to switch mechs and learn how to play :P

Last time I saw so many delicious tears was when setgroupers got their own queue and got owned due to inflated Elo. Good times... =)

Yes, I bought into clan packs and drive them, that's why I know balancing was needed.

So happy I got promoted to Star Colonel so I do not have to actually play the game anymore.

Here is hoping for a sequel in a few years(try 15 years if the trend is the same as for previous titles) that wont **** its paying customers because of fan-boy developers, who wold rather let the game and its players suffer than fire their fat useless friend who obviously do not know how to balance things and do simple math.

Why a certain someone decided to re-evaluate a faulty system and patch it up with endless band-**** instead of creating a new one when he was assigned to make sure this game is something more than a clunky FPS is beyond me.

There very well may be some OP quirks. The lbx10 on the cent D, the dragon with lasers and UAC's. But I have confidence that if there are any REAL issues they will be fixed. PGI/Russ has been very agressive in the balance changes since August. And PGI has stated multiple times (including the patch notes) that changes will be made if required.

OP Dragon...haha. Good times...

Personal insults makes your comment really come off sounding like you know what you're talking about.

personal insults?
Was my hypothesis that close to reality that someone un-nafiliated with the theoretical person in question could draw the obvious comparison?
I would argue that supports my case.

Besides you are an IS stravag, of course you would be on the defensive when PGI is called out.

And as for growing a pair, we live in the same country, name a time and place and we can throw down all you want, that is if you have a pair at all?
Oh, and I fully expect you to bring all your friends, please do, I will come alone.

I'm not whinging in fact i like it. I've been a clan mech fan forever but PGI made it plenty clear in more than enough time that the clan mechs were NOT ever going to be Cannon well at least for now.

It was blatantly obvious that they were going to be brought into line with IS in the name of balance and Coupled with their eye watering prices in my eyes they were money for old rope. As such i've not touched em, well i've taken a trial nova out for a spin. They sure as hell won't get money from me for a clan mech as they won't ever be OP to an extent that all the IS mechs that people had been playing with and spent good money on prior for a few years be rendered obsolete. I refused to jump on the clan bandwagon which so many players have and i'm grinning like an idiot now.

These quirks are needed solely to bring lacklustre or poor mech designs up to scratch, i for one am seeing a lot more awesome's on the field now which is a good thing. My pretty baby and awesome 8Q are especially grateful.

Quirks will show up for clan mechs in due time but not for a little while yet.

Quirks are dumb because just like everything PGI does there is no logic in it.

DDC was for a long time the best and practically the only used Atlas in the game (only ECM assault and only Atlas with 3 missile hardpoints, while still having 2 ballistic ones etc.). So, (disregarding my personal opinion that quirks are dumb), it made sense to give other Atlases more/better quirks, which they did.

Now, lets look at the Banshees. Much like the DDC, BNC-3E was practically the only Banshee used in game, due to obvious 4 ballistic hardpoints and the fact that ballistics are still better that anything other direct fire (thanks PGI for stupid firing rates). Now before all you people come crying that you used your pulse laser Banshee builds on BNC-3S or whatever else, I'm going to tell you that whatever you use in PUG matches to do 6+ kills and 1000+ damage on "how do I drive my gundam" opponents have absolutely zero relevance. Before clan mechs BNC-3E was the best medium-to-long range DPS assault.

Now if you look at the quirks the 3E got ... AC5 exclusive quirks. Really? AC5s were practically the only ballistics used on the 3E to begin with. Whats the point here? Make meta even meta-er? But thats not all, add to that the -10% energy weapon heat generation on 3E, which is more that the -7.5% that the 3M (which has 8 energy hardpoints compared to 3E's 4) got, and which is way more that nothing that the 3S (also with 8 energy hardpoints) got. You introduce quirks that are supposed to improve "bad" mechs and yet you make already better variants of same chassis even better compared to worse ones? Again, what is the point here? And where the heck is logic in this all?

Or take the Awesome. Just how much internal structure are you going to give to that barn to finally make it "valid"? 20? 50? 150? But wait, I ran out into the open in my Spider 5K with quirked ERLL and stood still to snipe and then got blown up instantly. I want more internal structure in my 5K! I mastered my AWS-8R with SRMs during the first week of open beta and I never took SRMs off it. I did 600-900 dmg in PUGs back then and I still did 600-900 dmg in PUGs in it just last week against all the Dire and Timber and whatever else is you think is so OP.

I can keep going, like half of the quirks make no sense. Lazy lame bandaid is still just that, lame. There is no data behind these quirks, no logic and no effort. Some mechs are supposed to be better than others, other mechs are made better by poor design. Do we really need to give them crutches just to supposedly achieve mythical balance for the sake of mythical balance? When R&R was in place you'd think twice before taking your meta-XL mech into a match, just because ... oh yeah ... you are taking a "good" mech, prepare to pay good money if it gets blown up. THAT makes sense. Quirks do not.

I could take an old unquirked Atlas and absolutely wreck any DireWhales face, just because I know how to use the strengths of my mech and the weaknesses of theirs. Atlas OP? Nerf it back? Or I can take a DW instead and take down a full lance of brand new S Atlases just because they decide to stare at me and trade fire with AC20 and medium lasers at 500m range. DireWolf OP? Nerf DW? Contradiction anyone? Same way I can take a Locust and start getting a 1000 dmg matches. Locust OP, right? Right?

Whatever "data" they can say they base their quirks on can only come from the single form of gameplay they observe / care about - PUG matches. And as I've just shown, nothing related to balance can be based on any data coming from PUGs.

Look at all the different mechs on the battlefield. Something tells me you just need to learn to adapt.

This patch is the best I have ever seen.

Its just the first couple days and it'll come down to meta again very soon. Meta might be partially new but there is no way around it.

Edit:grammar.

Did they add more heat somewhere lol? When I logged in I noticed my heat management is lower!!

Quirk system just collided a bit with modules, and shows wrong HE value.
Asked Russ 'bout this, they inspected it and found that matter is (luckily) only a visual bug with no gameplay effect.

And to original QQ, no they are not. Actually I had a priviledge to be rolled by squadron of Dragons on my TBR, pure entertainment :D It's been a long time when I've last seen such a variety of "ingame Lostech" IS mechs around. Dragons, Hunchies, Awesomes...absolutely glorious sight

You've also brought back jump sniping.....just different mechs doing it now.

First day, some hours of play and you allready complaining?! Just play a week and get a deeper look. There will be changes, but this is the right way to deal with the IS Mechs. So come down, men up and play a week, then make a decision.

that said, BAP, ECM counter is rly to much, ~250 meter would be better. 360 is out of brawler range,

btw. watch it and read it

You exhibit perfectly what is wrong with the people who have all sorts of negative things to say about PGI and MWO without actually providing substance to what you have to say.

Wow. Before the quirks were implemented, I was doing pretty great. But eversince they got into to game, I haven't lived through a single match yet! Don't you love, how MWO was advertised as "the thinking man's shooter" ? How it wasn't easy to take down an assault mech, hence the limitation, of their number/match? When light mechs were fast compared to others? Now it seems the only usable mech have shifting, from the chassis that made sence harpoint-wise to the stupitdly stong quirk bearing mechs.

I have tried but everytime I point out things that could be tweaked for the better I get a load STFU from white knihgts or better yet my thread mysteriously disappears...
To invoke Godwins law, you sir are the type to sit around and wonder where all your neighbors have gone and what that weird smell from the nearby factory camps are...

Trying to change things and making people aware but getting spat in the face breeds "Freedom fighters"/ "terrorists", or as we are battered as on the internet "trolls" depending which side of the fence you live on...

Why didn't the Griffin receive that same quirks as the Wolverine.

GRF-3M
 SRM/4 Range +5%
 Missile Weapon Range +5%
 Torso Yaw Speed +10%

WVR-7K
 SRM/6 Range +10%
 Missile Weapon Range +10%
 SRM/6 Cooldown +10%
 Missile Weapon Cooldown +10%
 Energy Weapon Range +12.5%
 Torso Yaw Speed +25%

Aren't they the same variant type but different mech? Seems the Wolverine was buffed quite a bit more, just wondering.

The GRF-3M is a Tier 2 (second to the best) 'mech while the WVR-7K is a Tier 4 (second to the worst) 'mech. The said officially that lower Tier 'mechs will get more quirks and better quirks compared to higher Tier 'mechs.

Let's just chill out and wait for a week or two to see how this unfolds. There's no question some of the weaker clan mechs (lights, nova, summoner, warhawk) also need some pick-me-up to get in line with rest of the clan mechs, but they're still holding their own pretty well against anything IS can throw at them at the same weight.
