With the queue low in the heavy department I need to get another one to munchkin my wait times.

Best at what? :P

There are many roles to play, and some mechs can do things other can't. Orions can bring the most missiles (even more than the Catapult) while Thunderbolts boat energy best for the wubswubs. Cataphract received fewer quirks but remains a solid contender. Dragon with AC5 quirks has killer DPS while still being fairly quick.

Timberwolf is still a solid choice, especially if you want a Clan heavy.

Any build that was good before is still good, and most likely any build anyone was running before received direct benefits from the quirks even fi you don't cash in on weapon-specific quirks. Which mech is the new king of the roost is probably still a little up in the air, and it will always depend on what you want to do with it.

Timberwolf will be out for CBills next Tuesday I think. Prepare for the heavy queue to SKYROCKET

But for IS, Cataphract is still the king, but Orion/Jager can have their moments.

I personally love the Orion, then again, I'm not exactly well versed in heavies.
I own a K2, JM6, and the Orion mastery pack. I regret nothing in its purchase. Just as the Hunchback is an assault in medium armor, the Orion is an Atlas in Heavy chassis.

I've played the 3D, good mech.
1N Sucks, not sure w/ quirks though.

Best IS heavy pre-quirks was the Cataphract 3D. I dunno if that changed since November 4th or not.

Timber Wolf. I don't own one, but all signs point to them being extremely good.

What do you want to do with your heavy?

Move fast? Get a Dragon.

Direct fire? Jaeger or 'phract.

LRMs? CPLT-C1 -- no questions there.

Bring the firepower of an atlas? Orion.

Probably still is, they didn't even give the 3D any quirks since it was already Tier 1 i spose

By the way, for people who didn't read the thread title, the OP is asking for the best Inner Sphere heavy, not the best overall heavy. The Timber isn't an Inner Sphere mech.

Jennerpult!
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a49a33c055db24f

I have had some very successful games in it, we used to run this style of build in the Catapult-C1 (4xMPL 2xSSRM2) but when they introduced engine limitations the build wasn't as viable. The Jester & Quirks have resurrected it though :)

Dragons look to be fun with the quirks and I have been wanting to try Orions, but my favorite is still the Catapult. I think it needed more quirks (Armor for their CT), but you can have a lot of fun in them.

Ilya with 2x Guass 3x ML is a lot of fun and I have had some very successful games we well.

Theres a lot to choose from depending on what you want to do with it. The onions are still terrible for solo plugging though :'(

CTF-3D remains a solid choice.

I haven't played my Muromets in a while, and the quirks didn't benefit the one really good thing it does (triple UAC 5s).

I recently re-built my 1X to test the new quirks, it makes for a solid tanky brawler/skirmisher with good speed - with Quirks + T5 mod MLAS can be pushed out to 325m or so, but I actually rely on the quirks and dedicated the mod slots for the AC 10.

Jagers are still solid performers, I re-tooled my Firebrand to try and take advantage of the PPC quirks just for something different. Dual Gauss & Dual AC 20s are still good solid builds, even if not totally optimal.

It's mostly a fun solo-PUG build, and I'm not completely sold on it yet, but it's definitely fun to run around at 93kph in a Jager.

Having a ton of fun with the Thunderbolts these days. Haven't tried all the variants since the patch but the 5SS is kicking ass.

Its most certainly changed. It may even be a K2 now. They are pretty hard to bring down now.

Yeah sounds like the Cataphract is still reigning. I got a Dual Gauss (or lrm boat, or dual ac20) Jager, and thats fine, but those times you get killed and want to hope into another heavy was looking for a backup.

3D sounds the way to go.

QUICKDRAW FO LIFE

QKD-4G

Multi-role.. Long range direct support, brawler or straight backalley mugger.

Edit: Note the new quirks on this mech. Serious LLas, energy buffs
