If your going to run a Tonnage mech deck tournie, then let the UI count the tonnage and give us a Total......I can count but it should not be a full 5 mins per game when people want to switch mechs and the tonnage man has to recalculate if we want to keep under or on the tonnage level.
Amount of matches to the Rewards is poor.
You showed a very good game reward System in the Halloween grab bags, I am not saying that this has to be the norm, but having a lower points scoing match count towards your points total would have been nice.
And Guys your Star/lance totals are scaled wrong, starting off with 200 tonnes for 2 players seems off maybe 150, scale should then go up by 75 tonnes so you can allow for a proper mech spread.
Poor show PGI, you had the ball, ran with it for A good 80 Yards, and handed it off to a rookie who fumbled the ball out of play.

since AUS was built upon the foundation of a giant prison, maybe all of the "yanks" should start calling y'all criminals...
No I will not insult others because they insult me... but, I will ask that some decorum be used here.
Back to the challenge, I was only able to get 7 matches in last night and of those4 were qualifying. I was running with a fairly large Unit and we decided to run smaller groups, the 12 man q was taking immense amounts of time for us to drop in, and when we went smaller, it wasn't much better... both formats saw even the larger well known units doing nothing but lrmfesting the game... again...
To those who say this is an easy challenge, enjoy, for the hamster is crap, they damned near gave the mug away for free last week, and the lame "warhorns" are one of the dumbest ideas ever brought into this game.
To even refer to this as a challenge is wrong, it should be labelled a fruitless endeavor designed to anger the masses and the large portion of our paying customers, and PGI wants to thank you for it.
Not enjoyable, not in the least, not when many of the Unit members flat stated no one they knew could get the challenge without loading up the nastiest lrm mech you possibly could... That is the only way I have seen anyone get the points....

However, having a family means I don't think I get near 40 matches in during a normal weekend, let alone that all meet the score requirement. And 60 matches, no way. The hamster is nice, but I don't need another coffee mug. I get that it is met to be a challenge and the match amount alone accomplishes that. I think I'll pass on this one though.
Also, what happened with the weekend sale? Just Timber Wolves and a Champion for MC? Totally should have had a massive Quirk Sale: Like all mechs that just received a new Quirk set at 30-50% off (MC and CB).

I guess this one is for the kids only... Dad's... forget about it.
think about this.... even if it takes only one minute between each game, thats still an hour of just waiting.
have fun kids
Pretty much. Kids. Neckbeards. Unemployed.
But its nothing new. ALL of the tourneys have been more about putting in sheer hours than its been about performance. At the top 10-15 of the previous leaderboards the point differences were so slim it was about luck, and to get that you needed to drop as many times as possible. I don't believe there was any skill difference between the top ~40 or so of each previous tourney.

Seriously, no sarcasm intended. I really do like when I can ignore an event...a good prize for a bad event just leads to wasted weekend..boring prize, boring event, can just ignore completely. Will leave me fresh and ready for the next worthwhile challenge.

Also, every match should count since only about 50-65% will qualify at 140 points. That's 100+ games for the average player...

I just don't get all this crying about the tournament being too hard and the rewards not worth it. If the rewards don't appeal to you, don't go for them. Play like you normally do. Nothing is stopping you.
My group opted to play under the weight rules. Not because we wanted a coffee cup, but because it was different....fun. And the matches we played last night were better than average. We had much faster search times, easily a minute or more faster. And the matches were more even on average. Practically no 12-0 or 12-1 stomps either way. Just given those improvements I would call this a success. And if we get a coffee cup in the process... great. But in the end, we were just playing the game because we like to play the game. Not for prizes or awards. Because we like to pretend that we are driving big stompy robots and blasting the hell out of things.
For what it's worth, I do think the bar is set too high for the rewards given. But that's my personal opinion. Partially because I don't care for cockpit items. Haven't bought any, don't expect that I will. Some people like them, that's fine, but they aren't for me. Added to that, the rewards this weekend also seem anemic when compared to the Halloween extravaganza. But people are delusional if they think that will be the new norm. The Halloween event was great, but I am viewing that like the Steam Holiday sale. Enjoy it while it lasts because there are fantastic deals....but don't expect those prices come mid January.
So try to let go of all that entitled crying about "this tournament isn't fun". Don't play it then. Just play the game. And if that just isn't fun anymore.....well then you have choices to make, don't you.

#1 this is way to many matches for a 750 mc prize.
There needed to be some kind of c-bill bonus to make it worth participating.
#2 tonnage restrictions mixed with mech quirks made people dust off some old mechs that aren't typically played. (Good thing)
#3 3-3-3-3 is very very very annoying combined with the tonnage restrictions. If you really have to have limits, open it up to 4 or 5 per class. I recommend ditching limits to class all together though...it ruins creativity of drop composition to meet tonnage.

But the reward vs. effort/time invested is extremely low. Once you had 5 wins = free mech and mech bay; even the other formula/score based events seemed fair; now you get (maybe) one point out from a match that cannot be done in solo and have special requirements that double or triple the already larger preparation delay that group games have. So, 4 days for 60 games for three cosmetic items?
I really want to help (for science!) but I don't see how can I put so much logistics effort, play time and wait time, for three mere cosmetic accessories. Sorry, that's not my thing.
You can say: "Fine, don't play then."But for me, it is not the 3 cockpit items that I will not win (wouldn't use them, anyway) but these three shame awards:
And I hate those.
