83 Point Alpha in a firestarter who was running in a straight line towards me....only orange armor...83 points should of breached it and probably destroyed it. It further goes on too remove my auto cannon because due too my ping not even counting the hit box issue I can not seem too hit it, leading does not work either.

Light mechs are really quick. He probably dodged your shot and it was so quick, you didn't even see it.

Mechs moving at high speeds still have wonky hitboxes and hit detection. They can randomly absorb hits and take no damage. Seems like the faster you go, the high the chances are of it happening.

The same hitreg issues can occur *from* a mech moving those speeds too though. It's just more noticeable when a fatty's shooting a tiny, because the fatty always expects instant death.

I just bought this mech after the IS quirks, here's how well I did. Stats don't lie. Wish the Clan mechs were this OP'd.

Not to be mean, or rude, but IS lights have been OP for quite some time...

Yes, they are so OP that you can hardly find a match because of the long wait times due to plugged up queues from people playing them...

Oh wait. <_<

Sorry, but things that are OP tend to get over used. Very few people play lights so I am going to come to the conclusion that they are not in fact OP. There are some hit registration issues with fast moving mechs but for the most part that is hit registrations in general.

It Hit him he was with in 200 meters and the rounds struck home the paper doll flashes. It was a clear direct hit and he only move too the side after impact.

And I've spectated many a player thinking they are doing more than just grazing a light mech with lasers and complaining in chat.

Many players think they are a better shot than they actually are.

what you see in spectation mode is not whats happening on the piloting players screen.
many damage is simply gone and the forum has some videos showing this.

The part where you put 3 LPL, 5 MPL, 63 points of damage, against one running straight at you, at 200m, and only turn its RT yellow.

Fun time.

Also managed yesterday, off topic, to put 371 points of damage only into the torso of an Awesome, and not kill it.

Hitreg.

Bolded for emphasis.

Hitreg =/= hitboxes.

There is not much you can do besides aim, shoot, adjust aim and stay on target.
Usually I don't have the time to check the paperdoll when trying to shoot fast moving lights.
I rely on the flashing crosshair to tell me when I hit, and if I shoot something with a laser and the crosshair stays red the whole burntime, I expect to deal the full ammount of dmg to a target.

On topic:
Compared to other light mechs, the Firestarter really is a bit too strong, imho.
They have alot of hardpoints, very well balanced hitboxes, high speed and JJ.
Ravens don't have the maneuverability (JJ) and hardpoints.
Jenners have worse hitboxes.
Spiders and Commandos have less hardpoints and tonnage for weapons, and Commandos miss JJ.
Locusts are far more fragile and have less tonnage for weapons and no JJ.
Clan lights are slower and mostly miss JJ.

Another fact is that when some one is trying too engage a light mech engages some one who high ping might as well just give up. or go for the legs.

On topic:
Compared to other light mechs, the Firestarter is competitive.
They have alot of hardpoints, very well balanced hitboxes, speed at the same level as pretty much all the IS lights and JJ.
Ravens 3L's don't have the maneuverability if you don't use a large enough engine, like any light (JJ) and hardpoints.
Jenners have worse hitboxes for their front CT but fantastic ones everywhere else.
Spiders have such amazing hitboxes that they can be impossible to kill for some people and Commandos have been outclassed every since a light mech with more tonnage came out.
Locusts just suck. Enjoy your quirks.
Clan lights shouldn't be used to balance IS lights internally.

FTFY.

Sounds like someone is mad that Adiuvo got his hitreg back.

The real issue here is hitreg and HSR being royally messed up. While the Firestarter is a great light mech, they are only this difficult to kill because they aren't taking damage properly.

Bad hitreg happens, I've had it happen vs. assaults standing still.

However players complaining that 6 mechs can't down a sinlge light and want to attribute that to bad hit reg all the time is really just people trying to make themselves feel better.

I usually just aim for legs unless I have a really, really clear shot at their torso.

Given how garbage most people are at aiming whenever I spectate, I honestly don't believe the general populace when they claim something has broken hitboxes. Especially when in high level play these hitbox issues seem to magically disappear.

I guess all the high level players just have better internet or something...

True about the aim, but to play devil's advocate, I think there is a de-sync when spectating someone else. Maybe depending on the player and the spectator's ping. It may look like they are missing, when to them it looked like a hit (or at least looked close to them).

There is a desync. Overall movement is rendered accurately though, and when I see most people failing to even make an effort to track, or tracking wildly, it's indicative of their lack of aim ability.

Having terrible aim is a completely different issue, you shouldn't have to lead your target with lasers. There have been matches in the past few days where I had completely cored RED CT mechs face to face against me and shots didn't register. On my screen they were direct CT hits but they didn't die, not immediately at least :)

the fsp-a been my primary firestarter down from the ember after the quirks. Im finding the hitreg from the pulse lasers works a lot better because its so short.

32 dmg
7 alphas without ovetheating
138m nominal range

ohh baby :)

So when are they going to add in ghost heat for small pulse lasers ? :)

Well yeah, but that's separate from any supposed hitbox issues. It's just an issue with the servers and applies to all mechs. I've had invulnerable Atlases before.
