I'm ok with knockdowns and even damage from collisions. That being said I want a reverse camera. If I take damage from going backwards I want to have a chance at avoiding it.

yea! more reasons for folks not to use lights.

now that small pebble that makes you fly into the sky and take leg damage will now make you fall over also along with the million other poorly made map objects.

when they re-add knockdown, I will never use my lights again cause I'm sure the other mechs won't be falling over.

either that or leave knock down to CW only.
Awww, I'm sorry you feel that pointing 20+ tons of steel and weaponry moving at 100+ kph in a direction should require actual skill and thought is so burdensome to you.

Personally it's been long overdue. There's no reason a light 'mech should be able to slam itself into a large 'mech's legs with little to no risk.

There's no reason a smaller 'mech should be allowed to jam itself into the ass of a larger 'mech without some repercussion.

This is a GOOD thing, and it will shake out the mediocre pilots taking advantage of incomplete game mechanics and leave us with the truly skilled, or at least those want to put forth the effort to try and become truly skilled.

Agreed. Very reasonable.

Which part of the latest Town Hall meeting made you most excited? You can find the cliff notes here, if you didn't listen to it.

For me, this was definitely the most exciting news:
  • Mech collisions and knockdowns are a "top priority" after CW is released, hopefully Dec 15th. This will be a big game changer. Not without major bugs and lots of tears, I'm sure. But it will push the game in the right direction. Towards more realism and less arcade-style.
  • New maps may be released as often as every month after CW is released. I doubt that will actually happen, but it would be crazy cool. Small maps may also be taken out of rotation, so I think the quality of the maps we're going to play on will increase dramatically in 2015. Bigger, better and more numerous.
  • A lot of work is being put into making MWO more friendly to new players, such as letting new players fight 4 vs 4 matches on small maps and improving UI. This doesn't affect me directly, but it means that we'll hopefully get a lot of new players when this game hits Steam. And they won't quit out of frustration. Which means the number of players may stay the same, or even grow a little. Which means the game will stay alive longer.

Collisions are GR8 news, but those 4vs4 is just crap idea. Instead giving 4x4 on small maps which we gonna await till next century give us 20x20 Great Battle mode on standart maps. That will unload Matchmaker and can be more usefull for CW.

I disagree, I think a "noob" queue of 4v4 on smaller maps is a great way to go.

Keeping them locked out of the general queue until they either join a unit (where theoretically they will have other players to assist them in learning the game), or until their ELO breaks a certain level.

As I currently understand it, this is more or less how WoT is handling their game, ensuring that new players NEVER have to suffer a stomp from veterans under normal gaming circumstances, and visa versa, a veteran doesn't get stuck on a noob team just to push their elo into an 'acceptable' range for MM.

Nope. It will not. "Noob queue" can be only avaliable when MWO get's pilot ranks, than "sandbox" can be made. Until this time more mechs in a same battle only solution to unload Matchmaker.

Besides, my solution is easy and cheap to do, yours is just another "I want cookie". Pay to PGI and they will create small maps, noobbox, more server space and etc.

I for one plan to mount up in my Timberwolf the day knockdowns go live, and exploit the living hell out of the mechanic. Possibly make videos about it, too, to commemorate the brokenness. 75 ton heavy with 89.1 kph speed and JJs, with good hitboxes and firepower too? Perfect fit for the job.

Exactly. In WoT once you break out of the new player barrier you are up against vets who have maxed out lower level tanks just for fun.

I think a better new player experience is just what this game needs, especially before going out on Steam.

I for one hope they make both mechs take damage, so slamming into anyone will hurt your mech, then the rest of the enemy can finish of those big legs you just messed up. :D

The damage will either remain the same as it is now or might be slightly increased, but it will be well within the TBR's tanking ability.

I'm going to slam over people at every little opportunity I get and record it, and drop artillery strikes on victims as they helplessly flap around on the ground. I might even slam over people on my own team, too, because there's probably a 99% chance that the bigger mech will be the one that gets to remain standing (i.e. plow through every light and medium on my team with impunity). All while playing "Living it another way" as background music just like the original exploitation videos featured.

So, you're basically saying who needs anything special to implement melee? Just put a snow plow blade on your Dire Whale and charge through the enemy mech ball. Epic hilarity! But, if you think about it a bit. could force a very realistic and beneficial change in the game. No more mech balls. Actual formations and realistic stuff like that there. Huh!

*notes* Always leg Fupdup.

They will probably turn off knock downs for your own team as soon as people do that.

Yes it will.

We have ranks, or do you not understand that ELO ranges are effectively "rank" equivalents?

Those players that have ELOs near the max 2800 value would be "top ranked" players, while players with the default starting value ELO's could be considered, "bottom ranked" or NOOB players.

After that it's just deciding the ranges for the ranks between the two levels.

And from your last comment my opinion of your solution goes from, "Your solution is not the best" to: "Your solution is just stupid."

Yeah yeah yay realism and all, but this will have the effect of screwing over light mechs yet more than they already are, and that's a shame.
