Not even close to winning this challenge. :P

My results:
90 matches played
34 won
56 lost
12 qualified

Good challenge but a bit too tough for me.

Congratulations to the victors you have earned it!

That's some real sportsmanship there.
Sorry you didn't make it.
Took me about 58 matches, all in laserdrill SCR. Surviving boils down to experience more than anything else I guess, especially when it gets close and personal in late game.
While I think the surviving condition adds to the game, the limit for the rewards was a tad too high. Should have been 15 or 10.
Good luck with next challenge or tournament to you.

Players did a lot of lurming and jumping in front of others to force their way in when they spotted a red CT. I saw a lot of mediums and lights and even heavies running after the first medium or light they saw for kills. [snip]

I also saw way too much Viridian Bog when I was in my Dires and my Tims. I didn't like navigating in there cause LURMS found you and there seems to be no cover. You also never see the spotter and with all the stuff on the floor, you will never see the light blast you in the back and then run around that weird crab carcass in the middle of the arena. My Dires got stuck on plants, go figure.

Yeah, saw a ton of this. It became increasingly more frustrating as the tourney went on - you'd be in a one-on-one battle, just about to get a kill, and here would come a TBR, open up with a huge alpha, take the kill, and then move on to vulture off someone else.

I usually don't care about kill stealing as long as my team gets the win. I think that was the most frustrating thing about this tourney for me: it forced me to care about things I normally don't, because I'm usually more focused on the team (like living to the end - I don't mind dying if it wins my team the game).

I saw some kill stealing, but I also saw some matches where, if we had a decent lead..i.e. only a couple left on the enemy team, people would ask who still needed a kill, and set it up for them, and or stay out of it. I did this a few times myself for others. And for those that posted that it was too hard..well it is called a CHALLENGE for a reason..otherwise it would be call a GIMME.

P.S. I HATE ARTY STRIKES....

It ruins the immersion, but I started running heat vision on Viridian Bog. It really helps with spotting those ECM mechs.

And I hate Arty and Air strikes too. I used a couple of free strikes that I won as Treats in the last Halloween event. But I've never bought one and never plan to.

I hardly ever post now, but this challenge really ground my gears (for better or worse), so I figure it at least deserves a look back.

For my 20 points, it took me:
75 Matches
37 Wins, 38 Losses 0.97W/L
59 Kills, 50 Deaths 1.18 K/D

Qualifying mech:
Atlas: 3
Thunderbolt: 1
Firestarter: 8
Scarecrow: 6
Hunchback: 1
Centurion: 1

I put in about 11 hours total (mostly Sunday night), since I was busy playing the new Smash Bros. game. Looking back, it probably would've been faster to just ran my Ember and laser vomit Scarecrow the whole time, but it was getting late Sunday night when I resumed the grind, and I had opted to play the numbers and just run through my stable of non-Heavies since those were always packed in queue.

The Scarecrow is definitely a top tier mech after the paces I put it through this weekend. I will also admit that at least half of my Ember kills (at least when the target isn't another light) were LRM drenched from my spots (since no one wanted to venture out and look for the enemy) and/or targets of opportunity near the end of the match where everyone is just ***** footing around afraid to come out, so I had to go and hunt them down with my MG's.

A really memorable match for me was in the Bog in my Scarecrow. It felt like I was hand-holding the whole team in regards of where to go at the beginning. I could tell everyone was just -- scared -- to take point. I just had a bad feeling about this match. At the end, our team was down 5-8 with less than a minute, and everyone was griping how they would win on time, so I charged and took down 2 (making 4 kills for me) and legging a Centurion for someone else (I had overheated), thereby tie-ing it. We didn't win, but later on I found out that a 94% Warhawk on their team was just sitting at base with 1 kill, so it felt nice to at least rob that individual of his point for not contributing to the effort.

I have to say this challenge was by far the most fun. Really enjoyed the hectic, heart-pounding action it invoked. The mania of ensuring I got a kill and assist, then backing off only to be forced back in the fight because my team started to lose it, then the frantic last moments of trying to drag my beat up mech across the finish line alive, only a few hits from death with a few desperate enemies still roaming the map.

Genuinely enjoyed it!

Played just over 50 matches, 42 in a Mist Lynx, and got my Victor. I had fun, but I can see where players who put in close to 100 matches would have had more frustration than fun.

The rules did make kill 'securing', to the point of going nutz for a kill, the norm and players where very timid after getting a kill. I did see some of the best use of tactics, in pug matches, in a long time. I think the weekend would've been more fun, if the rules had been, 'get one or more kills or assists, survive, and win.'

All that said, the prize was 3 days premium time, a VTR-9S(C), and a mechbay, a 4675MC value.

I enjoyed this challenge. I had some really frustrating elements to it like the kill thieves and losing after doing well. I had more than one match where I racked up over 800 damage, just to end up losing the match. I only had to hide out 2 twice during the event, both due to red crit torso sections. Got the Victor on Saturday afternoon, so I managed to pull it out. I had to since I was going to be on an airplane all Sunday.

The most fun I has was after completing the challenge being bait for the rest of my team. I would throw down some hurt then run in like a crazy person distracting the enemy and letting my guys get their kills in and win matches. Also umping in front of enemy fire to help out a team mate.

I did see a lot of ******* kill steal, but I also saw guy backing off on kills and letting a light driver get one in. There was a lot of good sportsmanship too, which made me happy.

All in all I liked it. The challenges are difficult for me since I travel for work and this was one of the most difficult.

Thank you MWO, PGI, the 66th Avalon Hussars and the players that died to let me get a Champion Victor.

Really enjoyed the weekend event. Tried my best not to take more than 1 kill out of a round. There was a lot of buffoonery on Sunday as time was running out, but I also saw some good sportsmanship also. The event added a real sense of purpose to the normal PUG rounds. The premium time and champion mech were put to good use. Thank you PGI.

Been wondering for a while....people who hate the survive part and those who stay back after getting a kill and an assist without helping their teammates any further to get their portion...are they more used to other games with quick-spawn-system matches and focused on the personal score?

Granted even i felt bitter when i got a kill and an assist then died. Fortunately, i got some very friendly pug-ers. Heck, they even offered each other for easy kills after they got theirs. But hey, it's human's nature to be greedy...(me? most kills i had in 1 match were 2 kills, either unintentionally or teammates already got their portion) :P

All in all, i enjoyed this challenge. Every sweet and the infuriating moments in it, and i got speed tweak for my Mist Lynx too when i finished the challenge... :D. Well, maybe some people prefer more "personal" challenges, so it's better to get something in the middle... ^_^

Got my Victor in 39 matches, used my fav Direwolf mech - really the only mech that I play.

At the end, I really noticed quite a bit of kill sharing and comradery, fun for sure.

I found that playing 39 matches in such a short amount of time saturated me a little. Definitely need to take a break for a bit. ...I empathize for my fellow pilots who missed out after playing more matches than me.

Congrats to anyone who else made the cut, the Victors certainly weren't given away for free.

Well unfortunately, and I feel bad about this, I had two rounds where I got 4 kills, and quite a few where I got more than one.

I feel bad about it now.

If you used a medium class or heavier, couldn't be helped as you're big enough to get into kill-or-be-killed situations easier than light mechs...+ if your teammates just hanged around in the back, not helping at all....can't wait until in-game VoIP gets in -_-

I was using a Direwhale with two gauss two ppc, seemed like the best build for this challenge. But yea, there were a few times where I would aim to take off a side torso and accidently hit the ct.

Ok. That was not so bad. I logged in at around 6:30 pm EST. Without much effort or focus I had my Victor by 01:00 am EST. So about 6.5 hours and less than 60 matches playing the same way I always do. Mmmm

Even had one match with 6 kills because most of my team was staying back and waiting. So I went out killing. Lol
