Yeah, the 'survive' requirement was like 'really?' I don't survive in most of the games where I do well. I guess this weekend is to teach us how to go power-down and hide once we're damaged?

No, wait. Hide, then power down. I'll get this eventually!

The reward is a nice carrot but the effect is just atrocious on how it makes everyone behave. Everyone is out for themselves because if they die they lose. You should have put 24 mechs in a pit and let them fight it out in a free for all if that is the type of game mentality you want to inspire.

Seriously.... it's nice that you're trying to bribe us to play (and judging by your numbers you are needing to bribe players with events to make them play). But please have some thought into what you are going to encourage other players to do as a result. I guarantee there is going to be some team killing because there is a guy who wants a kill and NEEDS to fire regardless of whom he hits.

You really should have just made this event win+4 assists+1 kill. That means you have to be a team player AND take some initiative to get the win. Really you should have gone the other way around and made some bonus for dying early. Why? Because it encourages people to be active by scouting and pushing around a corner.

All the free crap you can imagine is not worth playing an extremely frustrating game. By the way that's how a lot of people have felt about MWO for a very long time without events adding extra shadenfreude.

If you want the reward to be harder to get then make it 40 matches or 60 matches. Don't make the "victory condition" be a complete pain in the arse.

Reward for dying because lemmings like yourself can't stay alive? Are you serious? And you even suggest extending matches to 40 or 60 rounds which highlights your own inability to play the game. You don't have the skills to stay alive in a round so you suggest you earn a reward via 'grinding' instead. Pathetic.

tbh this event sucks for light mechs, because on top of scouting and whatnot, you have to get a kill and survive too? If you look at matchmaking, less than 10% of people are playing light mechs and approximately 40% are playing heavy (25~30% on medium/assault).

I just want to play a game and have fun, but that means giving up on event unless I get lucky and steal a kill off someone or finish off a crippled mech, which means I need to be of less use to the team when they need me to do something instead of chasing for easy kill.

I am going to play the same way I usually do. I doubt I will have time to get 20 points.

The worse thing is by observation are players not willing to commit until the end to vulture other people's hard work or, on the other end, get an early kills and then fade to the back.

But, just like any event, players will do what they can to get what is needed, usually at the expense of game play. It will be difficult for PGI to ever come up with an event where the forums don't light up with QQ over something.

Cheers!

So far my qualifying % this event so far is 33%. Which is a little strange since I'm pretty sure my usual win % is about 75%, and I basically almost always get at least one kill a game. At this rate it'll take me 60 games, which I'm ok with.

Honestly it's a bit funny that I'm trying to stay alive more than usual and I end up dying much more than I usually do, plus my damage per match has been almost cut in half. I usually play mediums very aggressively and live, now I try to run them balanced between aggressive/defensive and I die more.

Tried to run a KitFox with 3xAMS, was great for my team but geting a kill with 5.5 tons used in ECM+AMS+ammo was dodgy, so I ended runing a DoomCrow, fast as kitfox, not much biger and a helluva more bang if my team wants cover from misiles they can use buildings... and honestly my teammates probably don't agree but a 3xSRM6+A + 4cERML doomcrow is really reaping all those lurmzillas at 0 range.

Lights are back to where they usually are... no one plays them. Except for Firestarters. Lots of those about.

Turny or not. Everyone in the pug queue is always out for themselves. Most players are like dogs. They see red (a ball) and the will run into the road to get it. Even if it means they get run over by a car. Less than 5% of the pug players play smarter not harder. Then they come to the forums and QQ and PGI dumbs down the game...

I actually don't mind the rules of the challenge. In a lot of ways rewarding survival + win isn't a bad choice at all. It's other balance mechanics in combination with that which just make it.... meh. The issue is how many people get stupid for events and maybe I'm just worn out on stupid.

Playing light mechs properly means living most games.

After playing a couple of games I made the same calculation. And came to the conclusion that it will take 60 to 80 games to get the required points. With around 10 minutes per game that is huge time of my weekend just sitting in front of the PC.

I don´t think I will try. Stupid tournament rules. :(

Second game tonight the enemy only got 2 shots on me and I still ended up at 68% - the rest all from friendly fire. P.A.D.'s

I have to admit I had to change my playstyle, to compensate for my teamates. Apparently PGI did not provide them the necessary Kegel handbook, when they were issued their mech-gina.

Because you died? Just like in real life, you don't get to enjoy the rewards you received posthumously.

Permadeath for the player account too? Including the player?

Methinks you're a Killer DM.

Nice to see that as soon as "don't die" is involved in the tournament rules a lot of players start to duck and hide like leeetttle gurlz.

PGI, probably not a good addition to the rules.

worst event yet... I thought last weekends event with assists being worth more then kills was bad, but this is way worse...

get on a losing streak and ya get nothing... I have 2 points out of 15 games... of those 15 games we won 3... we lost most cause people wouldn't engage cause they are scared to die... even more so then normal.
