I did in fact try the cleaner you suggested. And tried reinstalling the game no dice. I also tried your suggestion about copying and pasting into a document. Then, copy in this forum. Again, no dice!?! So weird.lastly, im wired to my internet connection it is not a wireless connection. Again, thanks for all the suggestions guys, I wish some of this great advice was working!

Couple of things, with CCleaner did you run both the file cleaner and the registry cleaner? If not try the registry cleaner.

Second, did you past into Word, or Notepad? Major difference. Notepad will erase almost all formatting which can cause forums to choke. Also, make sure you paste it, then copy from Notepad then paste here.

Lastly, I think something got lost in translation somewhere. Try downloading and installing, then instead of trying to play, run the Repair tool first.

If you did that, in that order, or it fails, give us the details on your PC. Processor, memory installed, OS, free space on HD, etc. That may give us a clue.

OK, last straw, or straws rather, here:

1. Did you try downloading the file to another location or another drive? Perhaps (and this is a very big perhaps) the place you keep downloading it to has bad sectors or some other kind of fault (don't know if you use a SSD).

2. Perhaps you have a little person behind your desk randomly unplugging your CAT5 cable?

3. And this last one is really stretching, but you do have enough space on the destination drive to install the game, right? I know in this day and age with the multi-terabyte drives everyone has we don't think about this much, but it is about all I can think of beyond getting a few black candles, a small sheep, and a large knife.

Edit: Nick posted before me, so try his stuff first. Then feel free to head to your local livestock wholesaler.

Nick - Ran the CCleaner "Registry cleaner" just now. Cleaned a lot of things, but did not help as far as getting the game to download. I have tried copying and pasting to the Forum both from Notepad, and Word, and neither one show up when I hit the Paste button.

Golrar - I did try creating my own "MWO" file area to try to download to, but the computer gives me the same "Setup Failure" error message as before. No, as far as I know my kids have not been messing with the wires, and Yes, my computer should have Plenty of space available for the download (100+gigs).

My Computer - Dell Inspiron w/ and i3 processor, 6GB memory, 64 bit OS, Recently updated from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 (which was about the time the trouble started, but rolling back the update didn't help with when the game was crashing)

OK, I got nothing. Know absolutely diddly about Windows 8.

You know, it is probably something really simple that we're all missing.

Ok guys, one last DESPERATE! attempt to give you guys what you need to diagnose this problem. Since I can't seem to copy and paste the LOGFILE that my computer very helpfully creates for me I will hand type it out for you.

-I tried to download the game about 20 mins ago.
-I chose the "Typical" option for installation rather than "Custom".
-I got the usual "Setup Failure" - "Fatal error" message I have been getting for weeks now.

Not a clue - though you might try the Workarounds or the Hardware sections

Indeed, I'm still trying to process what you've tried so far to get MWO working and fear that you need to run some more scans to get your system back to normal, you shouldn't be seeing so many problems on a normal system.

My first question is what is your OS?

Second is what is your main antivirus?

Third have you ever tried Malwarebytes? (Ever seen SpyBot also?)

Fourth what happens to be your ISP and do you have a Firewall? (what Firewall do you have?)

Have you ever tried rkill or adwcleaner? (Peruse sites like bleeping computer if you identify anything specific.)

If you have something impacting you system than there are ways to clean it up.

If it simply is an issue with your ISP, there are a few settings you can try depending on what you are seeing.

If it is hardware, than you'd need to replace something here or there depending on what broke, such as RAM or Hard Drive issue(s) and so on.

I hope we can help and also I hope you have emailed Support (need to paste support@mwomercs.com in ur email)

Good Luck and GodSpeed!

I'm no programmer (though that might be part of why I cannot help much)

You typing all that out - or copy-pasting?

I am not a programer, rather I am IT support, I do not know how to analyze that report however I did notice a line "[same]i052: Condition 'NOT Netfx4FullVersion' evaluates to false.", this suggests you do not have .net framework 4. this could be part of the problem, download it here:
http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=40779

it also mentions directx is absent, I presume this refers to direct x 9, download it here:
http://www.microsoft...aylang=en&id=35
it may come up with a message along the lines of a newer version is already installed, go ahead anyway

hopefully that helps but I cannot guarantee it

Yes, I did send a Ticket to MWO Support (around the 18th of Nov.), but Alex posted in Workarounds (about a week or so ago) that they were backed up and working on getting to people as quick as they could.... I hate to say it, but I have a feeling I am not going to be "gotten to" for awhile if its been this long.

-My OS is Windows 8.1 with a 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

-I use McAffee Antivirus, which told me I was clean

-Don't know what "Malewarebytes" is Prae

-My ISP is Verizon and I don't know if I have a Firewall (how would I find out?)

Shar- Typing it out since I can't seem to get Copy\Paste to work at all (very frustrating!!)

Rogue - I will try downloading that stuff. I know that I DID go to the Workarounds and used the three links that are there for downloading the latest "Whatever" they recommended, and in several cases it told me it couldn't because I already had "newer versions" on my system.

Rogue - Just tried downloading both of those and got approximately the same message: You already have this, or, You have a version of this that is newer and so we won't install this on to your computer.

Thanks for the suggestions though!!

I wondered if after your fingers comment.

Win8 has been giving me a lot of trouble (not on my PCs - I use 7 - but helping a friend set up his)....

But that has not been one of them.

Support could take a while right now.

K Cool, with your system do you know if you have admin rights? (Normally you will see an yellow and blue shield before the command on the left side like this: Posted Image)

The reason this is important is that it will affect how programs run on your system (better or for worse, worse only with these issues).

[hr}

Malwarebytes will at least identify issues on your system to see if your system is clean or not.

Therefore if some programs cannot clean your system of certain issues than there are others that can help in many cases.

Nonetheless, knowing that you have Verizon, tells me that that you can have an issue with your ISP, where it losses data and so on with its connection to the internet. So your issue can have an element that can be tough to resolve on your own as a result.

And a Firewall is often software (and hardware sometimes) that controls how your computer accesses the internet.

So here you have a chance to tweak settings to work around issues with access. On Windows 8 there is a native firewall and there are other options like ZoneAlarm depending on how they get setup that would need tweaking for gaming.

There are other software, but I haven't bothered with much beyond ZoneAlarm for now in my case.

to find out what you have running depends on what is installed and what icons you see on the bottom right of the desktop; as far as I know so far (it can vary across systems).
