You know what made this challenge a lot easier? Having competent friends to play with. Our comms were constantly filled with "who still needs a kill?" Stomping through group queue with your teammates trying to evenly distribute kills was an interesting experience, we had several matches where 8 or more players received points for the challenge from the same match.

which would be great....if the Event was only on Group Queue.

For various reasons, some of us ran mostly PUGs this weekend. Not so fun.

Oh, so repeatedly having kills stolen out from under me makes ME the bad player. STFU.

Kill stealing. Brilliant. Now **** off.

Understatement of the day..

Come on PGI, show us the curves for games played in solo and group queues respectively, to get the 20 points. Ignore hybrids for clarity, maybe.

Edit: Redacted the swearing.. sorry I assumed it'd be auto-filtered.

this was not a hard challenge...

I will disagree with that statement. But no biggie. We have different opinions on this.

Either way, to earn this mech it should not have been simple weather its via skill or grind.

To teach players how to play to win, to play for their teammates and not play for cbills. It's pretty obvious.

I really don't see how this challenge did any of that. I saw a great deal of nonsense and crappy selfish play. Had I actually cared about completing this event I probably would have quit out of frustration. Its cool and all that some people liked the event, but all the people painting it as the greatest thing ever that somehow brought about masterful team play and cooperation are not being honest with themselves or anyone else for that matter.

I only play solo, and I had a whole lot of fun ... and in a Mist Lynx no less. Trying to survive was exciting and stressful at the same time. I also seem to have seen less of the hiding that people complained about. Better yet, I saw teams exploiting the opportunity given to them when one or more enemy players did hide to try to secure their kills.

My idea for the next challenge: Survival Challenge!! Earn 20 points and receive a free MadCat. To earn a point, all you have to do is survive the match.

The outcome would be 0 - 0 ties in every game. It would be glorious.

I actually saw progressively improving game play over the weekend. So all is not lost. :)

It would be no fun at all for many, possibly even most, folk.

haven't we already had the discussions about your sanity level and love of self abuse, though?

Mecha BDSM ain't my thing. I don't log on to have a weekend of 50 Shades of GreyWarrior: Online, thx.

Make the requirement "a point only to the last man standing" and it will be even more glorious.

Is it possible that the improvement corresponded with folk getting their 20.

Edited for coherency..

Fun is still fun, no matter the means. So I am fine with that.

It is even better if I get to deliver the pain to someone else. :D

Besides, how would you know? Have you actually done it yourself? Practical experience is better than just hearsay. ;)

I asked for more time, but not random (probably while I am at work or during football) time... :(

Guess I'll have to go buy the Victor instead... God I hate seeing red in my challenge screen, but damn, what's a casual to do?

Why do you think I have been asking for a 24+ no-holds-barred last-man-standing winner-takes-all free for all Solaris mode all this time?

It's the only eSports mode I will ever want in MWO.

I find it easy: Ignore the challenge screen, like I generally do my stats page. I'm here to play a game, not be a stat accountant, lol.

(sorry, quoting doesn't seem to do anything when I click on 'Quote'. In fact lots of things in this editor don't seem to work for me)

Totally agree. Most challenges I have seen in the past have been (to my view) obvious 'gaming goal' challenges. This challenge was way more 'in character', as it basically says "Act like you were a real MechWarrior. Win the battle, pull your weight, survive and bring that damned expensive 'mech we trusted you with back in one-ish piece."

Dunno about anybody else, but the challenge made perfect sense to me, and was well-adjusted effort vs. reward. Especially since the very first point triggered 3 days of premium, as that made all the subsequent battles worthwhile regardless.

They really need to re-buff the HGN's jumping before then...would be unseemly for a non Highlander to win that......

T'was great fun - did it all in assaults too ! all but a couple when the queue seemed to take forever.

HOWEVER - the survive mode only made it challenging from your own TEAM.

lights cant carry.....a couple of times I felt I NEEDED(hey look at my name ) to do it all (assaults remember?) myself

it should have been either a win or survive

or survive compounds the reward.

What gave me an epiphany during the week end was how tight everyone grouped around my DDC

maybe they should add a reward when a lance survives - this would not only help team play - but people actually caring if another of your friends is in trouble.
