But wouldn't it be a nice balancing feature for IS and Clams?

50% weight launchers, or 50% more damage?

2.5 would also be accepted, with a faster travel speed.

I think 2.5dmg for IS SRMs vs 2dmg but slightly increased velocity (350 up from 300) for CSRMs would be fun.

Does anyone else actually think SRM6s or CSRMs are better for killing light mechs than CSSRM6s?

I prefer 4 CLBX10 or 2 CLBX20 + 2CSRM6 to the legs (general area just ahead of the direction they are going); I actually once legged two lights at one time firing off these alphas on two seperate occassions using both sets of weapons from a Dire.

I think the clan weapons need left alone. The mechs need tweaked. not the weapons. tweaking weapons punishes the poor chassises too.

For example, the real issue isnt the clam streaks or srms, the real issue is stormcrow hitboxes. lets address this:

Well, that depends. Can you hit them?

If so, then yes, more deadly, since it will likely leg faster than the RNG SSRMs.

Now, if you cannot reliably hit them with SRMs, which I cannot, then the SSRMs will be more deadly, since while the damage is random it's reliable.

LOL. Man, I hate when I come across stormcrow's missing both arms--it seems I never hit them. However, in my Stormcrow's it seems no one can miss me even when I'm doing 107.

As far as the streak boats go what is there:

Adder with 4 x CSSRM6
Stormcrow with 5 x CSSRM6
Mad Dog with 6 x CSSRM6

Now the last two I have even run to coming around a corner in a big mech and paid the price since I was damaged already. However, it isn't OP in the least. These builds are just rocks/paper/scissors where you are a rock, lights are scissors and everything else is paper.

I think the cone fire effect of SRMs make it nearly impossible to land 100% of your SRMs on a light mech at any kind of range let alone focusing on just legs. Even if you have excellent aim, you are still limited by the cone fire nature of the weapon. This lower hit percentage is pretty much a wash when compared to the RNG of streaks and the lower rate of fire.

How many pilots can consistently kill a light mech in 4 volleys or less in an SRM6 boat though? I'm pretty sure any competent player could kill a light in 4 volleys or less of CSSR6s.

I propose that (C)SSRM2s only hit CT or cockpit, CSSRM4s hits extend to side torsos, and CSSRM6s hits extend to all body parts.

In case you did not catch it, I am going for the removal of the magic force field protecting the cockpit. :D

One thing people seem to be overlooking in their screams of how OP streakboats are is just how tonnage tight they are. I run 6xSSRM6, CAP, and 4xERML on my Mad Dog B with near-max armor. Know how much ammo I have? No, take a wild guess.

So.. you're using a build that's only effective against a class that's played like < 10% of the time.

I call this target practice.

the reason why these builds aren't so scary is because pilots with decent aim will kill a light even faster with direct fire weaponry.

Sucks running into those if you're in a light, but all streak builds are easy kills for anything with a similar payload that can actually aim it's weapons

Here's one, it only takes me 2 shots with my SRMcrow to leg or outright kill a light. Artemis does wonders for those with aim.

True enough. I'll run teh 6xSSRM6 for poops and giggles, but the truly deadly one is the 6xSRM6. I've back-cored other heavies in that thing in 1 or 2 salvos easy, missile spread on the streak version makes that all but impossible.

I don't have a problem with boated C-SSRM6 as much as I have a problem with the Storm Crow.

That 'Mech has no drawbacks except maybe weak legs and being somewhat tall, but both of those are a stretch. It can twist as well as a Locust, it can run almost as fast as a Light (or exactly as fast if it's a Clan Light), it is the heaviest a Medium can be and thus has tons of armor, and its weapons are mounted fairly high. It also sports high heat dissipation right out of the box.

I mean, I kill them all the time but, unlike the much-maligned (and wrongly so) TBR, you have to friggin' gang up on them to take them down or they'll just run away and come back to haunt you later.

Lack of jump jets. Still, I've run off Stormcrows with the YLW. It takes a bold pilot to actually WANT to go 1-on-1 with a YLW... The CN9-AH is almost as nasty (and in tight quarters probably nastier). Those are THE premier medium brawler/strikers Sphere side.

Nope, I would preffer Sachi's builds. They are more reliable.

Same, read Sachi's quated post... bsides SCR with 5xSRM6 or 5xSSRM6 is a waste when it comes to brawl. And you never... NEVAH... squize out of CSSRM6 72 damage their DPS is just 2 when CSRM6 is 3, cooldown is 6 against 4, yap less heat but imidiate effect of CSSRM against CSRM is twice poor.

2 Sachi. Why MDD become "Muromi San"? Just whyiiiiiii!?

I've never seen this happen before and haven't seen or heard of anyone who intentionally tries to exploit something like this. Clipping issues can be extremely frustrating or light pilots as well though, there is nothing like a "clip teleport" to throw off half of your alpha strike or getting you wedged into a space that you can't quickly maneuver out of.

I see this all the time. They just crash into your leg to immobilize you while their buddies pound you into nothing.

I agree SSRM6 boats are very underwhelming when fighting larger mechs, but being able to instantly leg or kill a light mech really sucks for light mechs. I'm not arguing that SSRM6 boats are better than SRM6 boats, just that purely for killing light mechs the SSRM6 are better.

I'd bet that you can't kill me in a light mech consistently with only 4 salvos of SRMs whereas you could probably do it in 4 salvos of SSRMs 10/10 times.

Lack of jump-jets hardly has any impact for anything less than top-end play. It's kind of a moot point when, despite this supposed drawback, it's still considered the most competitive medium in the game.

I've also run off Storm Turkies with Blackjacks and even Firestarters, but I have no delusions that it wasn't because I was just a better pilot.

In my Stormcrow I run away from everything--it isn't fit for brawling. Long duration lasers and too hot.

Flank, backstab, reposition is the game I play.
