OP don't bother. Every time its the same thing in regards to complaints about LRM's. First it will be the list of counters you can use (ECM, AMS, etc.) followed by 'use cover, if your getting hit your a bad player'. The worst will be those that say higher level players never use LRM's as they are useless in high level play, and are only bad in PUG matches where all the unskilled players hang out. And after they make that statement, it will be followed by another stating that LRM's are in a good place finally ( ) and they need to be left alone ( :( ). So evidently LRM's SHOULD be useless in high level play, and a constant complaint and irritant for new players and those that like to PUG.

Its sad, because instead you would think these 'high level' players could come up with ideas on how to make LRM's both more effective at higher levels while not being a nuisance for newer/PUG players, but nope lets stick with the status quo and keep them just for farming cbills in PUG matches and earning points in challenges. GG close.

You might want to read up on the concept of a "skill gate". They're very common in competitive multiplayer games.

At the point anyone is talking about different LRM's for lower skilled players or crutches to help them against LRM's the LRM thread is over.

This is exactly right, lrms are a skill gate weapon. New players rely heavily on lrms because they are easy to use, other new players don't know how to avoid them. They are very effective in these matches. Lrms are almost entirely useless against skilled players. Skilled players almost never move into areas that don't have access to cover, they bring items that help counter lrms like radar dep, ams, ecm. It has been a few weeks since i have been killed by lrms. I also rarely ever use lrms. I dont find them to be very useful. Lrms are both very overpowered and very underpowered depending on the skill level of the match you are in.

The best way to avoid lrms is not to hide behind something to block the lrms from hitting you, its to not let an lrm mech even target you in the first place.

Well, then gtfo of this thread, and let those who actually care about this game help pgi to come up with soloutions that can bring this game up to the next level.

I would like, so I wrote about it a few threads ago, a few month ago too, and so a lot of pilots who have much experience than me about both TT and mwo tried to write here how to balance lrm (that definitely need a buff)

The same with convergence issue.

The more time passes the more I'm convinced that pgi will do absolutely nothing about.

Sorry for trolling

Indirect fire is almost impossible to "make" effective versus good players, in any game, ever (even in real warfare, indirect fire against mobile, unpainted targets is generally a crapshoot.). As soon as you understand teh weapons systems employed, defence becomes second nature and requires zero actual thought.

Which is why the whole idea of making LRMs more effective against better players is a stillbirth, the only things you can realistically do to increase their effectiveness are global changes. But a bigger gun is a bigger gun and hurts everyone more, because the bullet doesn`t care what your elo score is.

Which leads me to the solution for the issues, one that average or better players have been advocating since 2011:

Get. Better.

The problem is, that requires actually playing the game, which complaining on the forums doesn`t ;)

You`re adorable. Completely delusional and possibly from another dimension, but adorable :D

Angle of attack is fine, if you put cover at a right angle to where the lrms are coming from you only barely need a taller building then yourself....

People think there behind cover, scream about op strait down lrm angles, ignoring the fact that lrms are being fired in from a different flank.

The angle is fine..........

Alot of the grief is really from this, like you said.

But I think people can't tell the LRMs are coming from a flank when they're being hit. Screen shake, especially on a low-end computer, can overwhelm the graphics and FPS takes a nose dive.... it's hard for people to tell what's happening on their screen.

The shake itself is not so bad, but for some reason they added blur effects also. So... it's already blurred in your eyes because the screen is shaking, but then on top of that there is extra blur effects. They should probably just remove that.

Bull

Because theyre not. It just takes learning to play to counter but ppl dont want to have to do that and are lazy. THATS the main problem here

Yes. Adjusted AoA would benefit a more aggressive LoS playstyle. LRMs are not "OP", it's just sad to see ASSAULTS MECHS standing 500 meters behind the frontlline lobbing missilies.

LRM is kind of a cancer for this game. You will never balance it.

My suggestions are ..

1. Get rid of the buddy shot
2. Change it to a direct fire weapon as it was in MW2
3. Reduce screen shake for all LRM variants
4. Add a narc warning to tagged players

Considering this discussion mixes the IS LRM flight and the Clan LRm flights its bound to be a false discussion

And OP I remidn you that LRMs are Long Range MISSLE which by definition are self propelled guided rockets which yes already in 2014 are able to reach a target behind a building and landing on its receding hairline. So I would guess that in whatever century PGI has MWO in LRMs should be able to dance the Macarena around you and then become your own personal ****plug (as frankly a missle would be capable of hitting a target in its weakest part as it is available to it during lock, but MW is a gunslinger game not a true futuristic one)

In a sense its funny when you think of it, Mechs and their weaponry (apart from having shiny lasers) are more last century then far in the future.

So please say that you don't like having to hide but don't say that missiles shouldn't be capable of doing what they technically already can.

Yeah which is why i trumpet situational awareness, you cant know what is cover unless you know where the lrms are coming from, one of the many reasons players need to remember to look up fairly often.

Okey, so we have now established that you dont read what the ones you are answering actually are writing. So, you are only trolling. GTFO out of this thread! I'm really sick of some of the users on this forum, and you have definetly become one of them. I saw that you have injuries on your hand, but that shouldn't inflict your readingskills.

He`s not trolling. He`s telling it like it is and can back up with experience. Something many of us much prefer to newbies constantly complaining about the only real "skill" bar in the game being too high despite it being buried underground, with threads soaked in tears and hyperbole.

It`s been more than 2 years, and with the exception of 2-3 LRMpocalypses (depending on who you ask, though some misguided souls would say the first never ended), it`s been the same whining, every day, no matter what was done to LRMs.

People complained about LRMs being OP after NERFS. Like when splash damage was removed, or damage was dropped to 0.8/missile (which was the better part of 2013).

Why? Because they can`t be arsed to deal with what, in their minds, is an "unfair" "cheap" or "(whatever derogatory BS they wish to spew)" weapon. These are the same kind of people that complain about you throwing them over and over in street fighter but are too stupid to consider that maybe charging at you round after round isn`t the best tactic.

The problem isn`t the weapon, the mechanics, or in fact in any way related to the game. It`s entiorely in their heads, it`s the unnecessarily constraining mental ruleset that they feel has to be adhered to to be "honorable", and anyone that beats them by not adhering to the rules that they don`t know about is "bad" or "cheating".

If you come running at me with a sword and I shoot you in the head, that`s smart, not "cheap". Fighting you on your terms is a waste of my time and an unnecessary risk to myself, and a bullet costs next to nothing.

But of course people will whine about "unfair", "op", "cheap".... when the real underlying cause is, well, their own stupidity and more importantly unwillingness to adapt.

But as far as who should and shouldn`t "be" here, that`s for mods to decide, not forum lurkers that rarely participate.

Don`t like differing opinions? Then don`t say or type things in public places.

Not trolling? Really?
If he isn't here to troll he should probably quote whats actually being said then the the little sentence in the middle thats not even remotely the case.
Quoting the non-important thing, and dont give a thought to the important thing is trolling.

Re-read the rules for the forum. Trolling is posting just to piss ppl off. Having a differing opinion (contrary to popular belief) isnt trolling.

If you want to get technical (as is the wont around here a lot) this could be considered A troll thread and breaking the ettiquite of posting:

Also; getting around the word filter is also a no-no

http://mwomercs.com/...nduct-expanded/

Just thought I might help

Can the mods close this yet? Its gone way off topic and the topic has been beaten to death way before he/she even posted this

The point of nigh all of your posts was "lrms are op". He specifically countered that sentiment numerous times. You don`t have to waste everyone`s time and bandwidth with 10,000 word quotes when only 3 had any actual relevance.

Seriously, man, you`re grasping at straws and you know it. Just stop before you make us all bad by association. ;)
