So with CW beta almost here I've been trying to find out how many bronze medallions phoenix/saber were suppose to get ... the project phoenix page is dead https://mwomercs.com/phoenix ...

was it 6? so that you could get 1 for each IS faction?

It was 4 if you got the Overlord Pack (which I did). I do not recall seeing anything additional for the Saber Reinforcement Pack however.

...and this is where Google sends me when I search for the Phoenix Pack for a live link with good information: http://mwo.gamepedia...Project_Phoenix

Hope that helps.

Nice of you to come to your buddies rescue, but I will tell you the same thing. Not interested. Go flame somebody else.

Nice of you to dismiss any viewpoint that fails to match your own as some kind of attempt to start a flame war while altogether ignoring the validity of the points raised against your own somewhat insubstantial argument. :P

I guess if you want to do the whole blah-blah angry thing I could point out that grammatically you most likely meant "buddy's" not "buddies."

Nope.
Real men don't test software.
They go straight to production.
Proof: Hellbringer hit boxes.
That's the Chuck Norris model of programming !

I don't test my code often, but when I do... I test in production.

Also, quoting myself from November 21st, because I still haven't seen an answer.

So... I feel like I have to ask this now.

Those of us who purchased Phoenix packages back when CW was said to be released "Soon™" have most likely long since chosen our medallions, which grant a Loyalty Point bonus, along with the LP bonus from the 'mechs (if I remember correctly... It's been a while, y'know).

Details about how the medallions would work, or even WHAT Loyalty Points WERE was never released up until now. Will we get to re-choose our medallions now that we actually have some idea of what LP's are, what they mean, and why we want the medallions, or are we just screwed if we made a poor choice?

So, say I am in a player Merc Unit and we decide we are fighting for Davion for 2 weeks, then in two weeks we decide we are fighting for Jade Falcon because we have all these Clan mechs. Now in this case our player Unit would shift from Merc to Clan on the Faction Alignments or would we need a seperate Clan aligned player Unit to jump to to use our Clan Mechs? Can players be in two player Units at the same time?

For the purposes of CW you and your unit are always in a faction, and your unit always shares the same faction. You would all switch at the same time to the new 'contract' with Jade Falcon after 2 weeks with Davion. You don't need a separate unit for Clan contracts. Players cannot be in two units at the same time.

The best idea i found here:
distribute the tonnage across the group rather than per player.

We are a unit, right?
Medium weight is 120 - 240?

example of a 4 pilot lance:
Scout pilot takes 4 lights - 4 Ravens/Adders - 140 tons,
Medium pilot: - 4 Ice Ferrets / Vindicator - 180 tons
Heavy pilot: - 4 Dragons / Mad Dogs - 240 tons
Assault pilot: - 4 Direwolfs/K-Crabs - 400 tons
Total: - 960 tons

medium weight of 240 is respected -
and players are happy.

Actually: An assault fan can bring in a Direwolf, a King Crab - and 2 Locusts.....
and players are unhappy.

I support the idea of distributing weight simply because I'm not going to use all of mine, but a couple of issues:

We don't want this in the hands of the match maker. You want to drop with 4 100 tonners you could be sitting in que for hours waiting for the sweet spot of the right planet you want to fight on, the right side of the fight, in the same faction, with enough shared weight to allow for your load, in competition with all the other assault pilots wanting the exact same thing.

On top of the individual component, the matchmaker would have to integrate that person with non-12 person groups who are already coordinating to distribute weight within their group, which practically gaurantees that person with 4 100 tonners will only ever find a match with 11 other solos hours later, which would promptly get stomped by some combination of teams on the other side.

This is true of all weight classes really, though most clear considering assault pilots.

The alternative is only allowing pre-made groups to use it internally, which privleges them over and above the advantages they already inherently have in the system as it is currently described.

Lastly, if the teams were put together in lobbies first, before mech selection, then they'd have to hash out weight distribution between the pre-mades and solos over chat, which sounds like 12 Angry Men with no enforcement mechanism, which would take a long time as well.

I want it. I don't know how to get it.

Well, what I see in scanning the forums for the various player units is they are all allegiant to either Inner Sphere or Clan. That does not mesh with a player base that buys both Clan and Inner Sphere mechs. The player Merc Units, it has been said, can't work for the Clans, unless this has changed. And I don't see Clan aligned units switching to Inner Sphere for a week or vice verse.

So I think there needs to be some review on how players will be able to use both Clan and Inner Sphere mechs or why would you buy a non-usable Mech?

Hi there guys, I just wanted to ask what I think is an important question..

I'm in a smaller unit and can foresee a scenario whereby to make CW work for us, we will have to merge with another unit.

So, will this be possible and also, can we commute our unit funds over to the merged unit?

Thanks!

Exactly. He wanted the possessive. My "buddy" was "rescued" by my intervention. Not my "buddies" rescued something undefined. If there had been more than one "buddy" it would have been "buddies'" for plural possessive.

I've read all the CW updates and haven't seen this restriction for Merc Units. Can you post a link or the name of the thread you saw this in?

Thanks.

Question:
If I want to use 1 mech two times, can I just duplicate it? It does not make much sense to have two identical mechs in my hangar consuming a mechbay, just for the sake of being able to drop two times with it.

So my suggestion when selecting your mechs for the drop is:
Take one mech in each slot, but each slot is a link and not a transfer to your mechs in your hangar, so you just select the same mech 2 times. Because if not, it will look pretty stupid to have two identical mechs in your hangar which people will do if they have to and it will look stupid.

Like in regular matches, when a mech is dead but still in match, it is unavailable. Same applies to mechs in CW. You'll need multiple copies if you want the same one more than once in CW drop.

Mercs can't work for the Clans because the Clans do not use mercenaries. If a unit would like to be the closest to a "Merc" possible, but work for the Clans, Clan Loyalist will be the way to do it.

Also, if CW allows you to jump back and forth between Clan and IS units, that would be just about the biggest dump on lore that PGI could take, so hopefully they stick to their guns on that one.

*Edited to add that even the concept of "mercenary" is highly offensive to the Clans. That someone would fight for money, rather than loyalty and honor is an affront to the Clan way of life. Also to add that this link here goes to the latest "Faction Challenge", which lists what PGI considers to be the "Clan" and "Inner Sphere" factions. https://mwomercs.com...t=201411faction if you scroll down.

I'm clear on the lore, but functionally within the game can't a merc unit, (like any other player/players) just become a clan loyalist after their current contract is over and 'join' a Clan for a given contract length? As a solo player there is nothing stopping me from going back and forth after each contract period so I don't think organized units are restricted either. There is the LP penalty, but that's it at this point.

Edit: Found it:

Ah, I see. And also...bummer.

I do wonder if there's a differentiation here between "Merc" as cited in the link, and "Merc Unit" as "Faction". For the purposes of CW, do we all start out as "Merc" and then choose what faction to align with, with possibly "Merc Unit" as one of the factions?

Also, for the record, I freaking HATE the idea of someone being able to jump back and forth between Clan and IS. Hate it. It's pure nonsense. I'd much rather they allow someone to make two "characters" on their account and permanently assign one to Clan and one to IS, or something along those lines.

Thanks for the link though. It does clarify things a bit.

As long as they don't let Clan pilots use IS mechs and vice versa, I suppose I can get used to it. We'll see.

As originally mentioned in your posts about CW - you are going to have times when CW is available and others (during low periods) when it isn't.

How about instead of doing that you have times when CW counts towards progression and others where we can still play it, but it doesn't actually count towards planetary conquest.

After all - the community has been waiting of years for this. when people in lower population time zones etc patch the game and cannot play CW as they are outside "Peak times" you will annoy a lot of people.

At least let everyone have the opportunity to play the content itself even if it isn't actually counting towards the final outcome.

So, I guess someone got Gram-F*cked.

Something just dawned on me in the last game. The next war any of our nations have, we should all send the idiots off first. In real life, Forest Gump would have gotten blown to bits in 'Nam...

I think MWO would become measurably better after such an event.

Poll?

I would like PGI to aid in this endeavour by asking us all to do IQ tests and forwarding the results to our respective governments. Would make a really good experiement.. REALLY... YEAH!
