I've seen someone running one of them with macros. Not sure how effective it was, but it sounded terrifying. It got people to put their heads down for sure.

You should hear 2x C-UAC/5's going off with a macro to keep them perfectly spaced and double tapping. If you don't jam, it results in a never ending stream of shells, each one with a similar impulse rating to an AC/2 shell.
If you didn't pay attention, you might mistake the racket for a large-caliber LMG being fired.

Yes, because IRL tactics don't call for targeting command structure above most everything. Which, as it happens, carries over to BT. In fact there was even a Mech designed specifically to kill commanders and their Mechs, either SLDF or Jihad era. Inferior combat chassis make inferior command vehicles, because the chassis itself is inferior. Despite you trying desperately to come up with a reason the KGC should be inferior, all evidence points to the contrary.
KGC:
Easily down an Atlas in its weaker C&C variant
Take multiple Lances and cause guaranteed casualties
Annihilate opponents in close-combat
Can compete well with the Clans in its "Clan Buster" variant
Atlas:
3 extra tons of armor
"superior" C&C abilities
Intimidation factor?
Can pick up mediums and throw them around like rag dolls
Honestly, the lore speaks for itself. The only reason the Atlas is "superior" as a C&C Mech is because lore says so, despite the KGC being superior in almost all aspects. Command Mechs should and must be capable of defending themselves (or scurrying away), which is why a large number are based on Assault Chassis, and not weak ones at that. Lore even supports this fact, just as much as it supports the Atlas somehow being better for C&C duties.
Nothing about the Atlas lends itself to being more versatile for C&C duties, at all. I implore you to come up with some plausible reason as to why the KGC is less versatile, keeping in mind that they're both 100 tons (and can easily make room for equipment).
OH, and you seem to forget that there are such a thing as "battlefield commanders", which both command forces, and fight with them. There's entire history books full of people like that, and most of the notable ones were notable because they were good at it. Not every commander hangs back and does the desk jockey routine, staring at maps and waiting for reports.
The mech that target command mechs and was so popular annd good at it job that enemy commander used whole lance to find and kill them was the 65 Ton EXTERMINATOR.

I would really love to have that mech in game in the future. Looks good and love the 65 ton class though my thunderbolt even before the quirks I love to play and had good luck with.
I would love for someone to let PGI know they really need to make a intro video for the King Crab like they did for other mech last year. The heavy metal, highlander had a video I also think so did the stalker. They would need to do any voice over just some video shot using the f4 key view had a brain fart there just showing the mech moving and firing on the enemy it might drum up a few more sales or atleast drum up some mc sales for the other varients that are coming.
One other thing we need how about a 1/2 sale on module for christmas time before the community warfare hit.

There was a time when the AC2 didn't suck, and because we here at Kong just love the dakka, we'd routinely have full groups of AC2 mechs dropping.
Whenever anyone was talking, you'd hear the hammering of the guns over the chatter.

After looking at the comparison between the Crab and the Catapult, I am surprised how substantial the Catapult looks compared to the Crab. I'm not asking for model changes, but I'm hoping PGI keeps that in mind next quirk pass. Maybe some additional CT structure buffing.

That said, this is looking to be a pretty potent assault. Especially since it's an IS Dire Wolf that has better torso twist than an actual Dire Wolf.
Ready your butts folks, it's going to be a long dual gauss/ppc week for everyone.

Not enough people are excited about the dual AC20s... Boomjagers are dangerous but fragile with their XL engines, (69.9kph with XL255) and don't have enough tonnage to use more than 7 tons of AC20 ammo and still keep two backup Medium Lasers . The King Crab is superior to it in all but speed.
I can build a King Crab that runs a STD340 engine for 60.6kph after speed tweak, 2xAC20s with 11 tons of ammo, (77 shots) 576/614 armor, and backed up by two medium pulse lasers. Downgrading the lasers to Medium Lasers and shaving an extra half ton of armor off will allow you to use a STD350 for 62.4kph. That's one seriously dangerous assault brawler.
If you were really crazy you could even drop the Medium Lasers, and drop to 9.5 tons of ammo (66 shots) so you could use a STD360 engine for 64.2kph.
