From my play testing, enabling UDP mode leads to lower ping but frequent disconnects when using the Chicago 1 server. UDP is generally regarded as unreliable to begin with from what I've read on the subject, so you might as well leave it off. UDP on, I had 60ms and with it off I have ~110ms.
Would a VPN through a local server be able to bypass Tella's throttling? For example, Pingzapper claims to encrypt its data down the pipe, so would Tella then not classify it as low priority?
If you don't use UDP mode, you're not actually routing the MWO *game* traffic. UDP is not more or less reliable than other protocols, just different. The reason you don't get disconnects with UDP off is... because it's not doing anything. Please ask questions if you're not sure how the technology works, several of us are glad to help. Please refrain from making unqualified recommendations, as it could cause complications for people that are similarly unfamiliar. Much of how Pingzapper works is covered in the preceding pages, feel free to review it

I'm done with MWO until this gets fixed. I can't tolerate going from 80 ms ping to 1400 for no reason.
I'm kinda in the same boat, I'm on the verge of switching games, which is sad - I have a few grand tied up between a couple MWO accounts.
