A moderator posted in that thread and wants us to go somewhere else with our problem. DSL reports doesn't let us post in each others threads. Sigh.......

Those options are honestly no help. We already tried calling. Twitter and Facebook.... LoL.

Well, I think since PGI is a small company with a relatively small audience, the big ISPs are just going to keep considering MWO traffic as low-priority. This is just the beginning, if Net Neutrality is overturned, this type of thing will be a reality and will probably put many indie-dev group out of business. This may be the downside of PGI breaking away from IGP and for their space-SIM getting postponed indefinitely.

Seriously, this needs to be addressed. I usually run 90 ping, but it goes all over the damn place every other game.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

From my play testing, enabling UDP mode leads to lower ping but frequent disconnects when using the Chicago 1 server. UDP is generally regarded as unreliable to begin with from what I've read on the subject, so you might as well leave it off. UDP on, I had 60ms and with it off I have ~110ms.

Would a VPN through a local server be able to bypass Tella's throttling? For example, Pingzapper claims to encrypt its data down the pipe, so would Tella then not classify it as low priority?

Its not working at all without UDP enabled. With UDP off, it only protects your ping in the Mechlab which doesnt really matter.

I'm done with MWO until this gets fixed. I can't tolerate going from 80 ms ping to 1400 for no reason.

If you don't use UDP mode, you're not actually routing the MWO *game* traffic. UDP is not more or less reliable than other protocols, just different. The reason you don't get disconnects with UDP off is... because it's not doing anything. Please ask questions if you're not sure how the technology works, several of us are glad to help. Please refrain from making unqualified recommendations, as it could cause complications for people that are similarly unfamiliar. Much of how Pingzapper works is covered in the preceding pages, feel free to review it :)

I'm kinda in the same boat, I'm on the verge of switching games, which is sad - I have a few grand tied up between a couple MWO accounts.

Yeah, last night was it for me, my choices were insanely unstable ping, or random server disconnects and "unknown errors". After a week I have determined that Pingzapper is not reliable enough to justify the cost. This latest MWO patch has tons of good stuff in it, so I will give it another try tonight, but if I get the same problems, then I am off to SWTOR for a while.

is anyone getting awful awful awful hitreg since the TWC shenanigans started up? re-watching recordings of drops, on a lot of them I'm getting around 30% of the damage I should be, and when I compare it to year-old recordings, the damage back then was more like 80% of what was dealt. some damage loss is normal, but thats a substantial hit. It's annoying to play from one connection (say, my office during a lunchbreak) and drop a couple 800+ matches, then head home and in the exact same mechs do ~300 tops. It's turned MWO from a recreational endeavor into a source of substantial frustration. I simply do not enjoy mechwarrior anymore.

Just a wild idea. Could PGI create a Tunnel on their side which perhaps took TWC users through different hops? It could be USEAST1, USEAST2. I know its like the Nuclear option but this is only going to get worse. Im guessing we only know about 5-10% of the people having trouble and being turned off from MWO. Just ran into another MWO gamer yesterday that thought his 500 ping was because of his apple router the whole time, but hes on TWC.

That would be a pretty substantial investment for them, and it'd open up a whole can of worms if only part of the user base had access. It would be awesome, but even as someone affected it wouldn't be fair for the rest of the userbase if they took dev time away from something else to do this. The hardware resources alone would be better allocated to additional server capacity.

Thank you for your sincere commentary and concern, but a user before you already corrected the ignorant basis of my conclusion as a result of my findings when testing this service.

It appears that you're either stuck with high latency or frequent disconnects no matter which way you go. That's mighty unfortunate.

Ok, lat night was better; < 150ms ping with no disconnects using the Central North tunnel. Russ did tweet something about an East Coast internet problem that had been resolved, it had not occurred to me that the storms on that side of the country could be a contributing cause of lag.

Judging by your IP on the forum, you have a very unique ISP - I could contact them to ask them to improve pathing if you'd really like.

Jon, this post and the one you quoted were done from my office in downtown Austin which is not on Time Warner Cable. Only my home is.

Thanks for the response.
