I think the Dire Wolf has done a lot to get people used to such slow mechs. In the past, I've gotten left behind while in 325 engines Atlases. 325 engine in a KGC? No one leaves me behind.

I think its more that Crabs have crazy firepower compared to an Atlas, so people are more willing to wait for them. People view atlai as harmless, so they leave them behind.

Most KGCs actually mount less firepower than an Atlas. The ballistics common on KGCs are less tonnage efficient at dealing damage than SRMs. Granted, of course, there is something to be said for the hole-punching power of twin AC20 or Gauss.

Atlas are better at vomiting damage all over your components, KGC is much better at actually killing something.

KGC-0000 blows the Atlas out of water when it comes to firepower though. Be that lasers, ballistics or missiles.

6 AC/2
its actually semi viable (cooldown still sucks of course but its a gag build)
all 6 at once you can do a sustained fire for a moderate period of time
3 groups of 2 fired in chain fire (so 3 shots per slavo) is also pretty effective
with a macro and the current cooldown rate i think you could pull off the old school stream of shots too without enduring ghost heat.

Just tried this out with assisted fire and the ghost heat is insane.
It is useless, unplayable and most of all, unenjoyable.
Has there been any talk to reduce the ghost heat on AC/2?

I see the Atlas as a dangerous close in brawler, but it relies on a mix of weapons to deal its damage, and SRMs being what they are, great for stripping armor, less so for scoring kills.
As it is, A King Crab can punch a hole in a Dire Wolf and make it back off in a similar way to the Dire Wolfves punching holes in Atlas' before the Crab came.

It mounts less total firepower, but since the Meta favors strongly pinpoint damage, the King Crab takes a dump on the poor Atlas.

We need a meta where shoot'n'scoot is less effective. Game feels very much like a cover shooter right now.

Not really. All it has over the AS7-S as far as firepower potential is 1 Ballistic point. Maybe you could forgo the ballistic and mount heavy energy weapons, that's about the only way a KGC can out gun it.

haven't used my KC yet, been trying different load outs but then the Cataphract was mentioned, so I came up with this. I like the Cat-3D and this config emulates somewhat. test it a few more times then its ready for some live fire!

I think i will make this build when the crab will be available for c-bills

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f40a41a0dcdbfd3[/smurfy]

Alternative:change 1 SRM 6 to SRM 4 and add 1 extra ton of ammo or half to add some extra armor and give it better heat efficiency.

Looks good for brawling but you will have some heat isues unless you are really good at HM
I suggest to chain the AC/20's in order to avoid the ghost heat and avoid to waste an extra shell for 1 shot kills.

I have yet to try anything else, but right now I have 2AC20 2PPC. Kinda a throwback to when people ran poptart mechs, puts an insane amount of damage pinpoint on a location, can snipe relatively well, and brawls well with 2AC20 of course.

I just swapped out the FF for Endo and double heat sinks. Put another Large laser, swapped the LRM 15 down to a 10, put a ton of ammo for it in, then use the rest of the space for AC20 ammo.

Don't use the LRM10. Use a pair of 5 packs. You save a ton and get a better rate of fire.

The King Crab you gave us is DoA because it has ghost heat for firing 2x AC 20's with AC/20 quirks.

Waiting for the others to be on sale for Cbills.

I haven't been playing with it very much. Been fighting in CW with my clan mechs. If I get around to it I will probably fix it up a bit.

I think the KC greatest weakness is that FF armor. ******* trash.

I did, but its a pain to have to pay a little bit extra to rip it off and replace it.

It was also a pain to rip out the 300 and replace it with a 325. Free mech, who cares?
