What do you think about Quadrupedals, Colossals, ProtoMechs and LAM's?

And quad mechs? ... No problem at all. Be happy to finally see them in all their side-stepping, stable, dropping behind low cover quickly glory.

The size and how slow those things would be are penalties onto themselves. Would be like a tank aiming at the Chrysler building. Yeah they could have more armor and weapons to bear, but I don't see them being able to maneuver or position very well at all. Putting a 2nd person in the machine would actually be a perk most likely, since they would be targeting multiple enemies simultaneously. Think of it in another way. Would you want an assault + a 20 ton mech or two guys bringing the full force of a colossal down?

I don't mean two people manning the weapons. I mean like one managing movement, heat, etc. and a gunner. It would take extreme teamwork and coordination and a full blown 'Mech attack could take one down quickly if the attackers knew what they were doing. Colossals may also be only available in extreme defensive operations to limit their availability. I was thinking of this in a different way. Would I rather fight two Atlases or one Colossal? I was basing it off of pilot number, not weight.

protos, colossals, quads, i would like to see them all when those techs become available
well, maybe not protos, as those would be hard to balance. dont you get them in a point of 5 like BA? on their own it would be kinda stupid to take one

Heat? What is to manage there? Pretty self regulated as is.
You would always, always, always, want to fight fewer targets, even if they were harder to kill individually. 2 Atlas vs 1 colossal is going to win any real time game every time. Slow as they both are, the collosal can only face one or the other to the front.

Exactly why colossals would not be OP.

It's 3048 and Clan ProtoMechs will not appear before 3060. The colossal Ares will appear in 3132. So we have to wait for a looong time! You can omit option one & three. At the moment, there are just Quads and LAM's. Hopefully we will see some QuadMechs.

While I like the idea of LAMs I just think they would cause more of a headache than they are worth to balance for the devs. To much mobility with no direct counters (Aerospace fighters). Not to mention a LAM would make other scouts much less appealing.
Colossal mechs are firstly not canon for the era and secondly I think they would be either impractical or op so I think would be a bad addition.
Protos again are not canon for the era and honestly are just really big elementals... Also I was under the impression only the clans used protomechs

LAM: I like them. So yes, would be a Gimmick for the peoples who want to spend money, but their effectiveness won't be very high I
guess
Protomechs: I don't like them. Hopefully, not.
Ares: Bad performing Mech, so also an gimmick for people with deep pockets.

They look terrible. They look worse than the 3024 art and the Dark Age 'Mechs. I cringe every time I look at them and I deny their relevance at every possible opportunity. The sooner they get a MASSIVE overhaul, the better.
