You Can,

I've gone into the Queue as a solo player and been blessed by being the odd man out on some 8 man, 4 man groups ect ect.
And you can make a difference even if you are not on Com's.
You just need to stay in queue so MM can put the team together for you.

CW is designed for 12 man premades on voice comms. If you drop solo, you will get matches against premades while your team is full of pugs with no comms or coordination.

CW is high level team play, and does not cater to small units or solo players.

Yes you can. I dropped many times solo last night. Was fun and a blast.

Just shoot in the same direction as everyone else, you will win.

That's what I said several months ago and reiterated here.

its a BUG, it needs fixing. There are people waiting to drop just like you, you just dont see them until your team has all 12 members. Its ****** up I know, I hope they hotfix it ASAP.

Horse ****, dont let this guy put you off dropping solo. Alot of fun taking on 12 man premade's, here's a small tip if they break your defence and stop, type to every one to push before they regroup. Works a charm every time.

It's also particularly gratifying to defeat 12 man premades. They aren't all LORDS or 228 by any means, the vast majority of them won't be much more coordinated than a PUG despite having Voice. I've been in many a "Pugenstein" that's defeated a 12 man.

My unit did 3 drops that I was in, we had 2 rounds where we had 11 guys and our 12th guy was a random Steiner and a random Davion. These pilots were some of the best pilots on the team.

I like that solo players can drop it and so far I am very happy with them. They were two of the bets IS hunchback pilots I have ever seen.

The 4 matches I've had, I've won 3 in the solo queue. I luckily got into a group full of solo/2 man groups and we wiped out a 12m group. We were communicating like a bunch of nerds tho. Out of all matches, I had 1 w/ a 8man group and we lost horribly... and it was the 8man getting wiped out. Just luck of the draw really. I do my best as the solo player to communicate, watch chat and pay attention to my team so I know if I'm needed and where and what the enemy is doing.

If you're CW'n solo, just take a second or 2 to hide behind cover and relay information if it's needed. It's worth it in the long run.

Exactly, all those tryhards, wannabe-meta humpers and lorenerds want to spread the "CW is hardcore, dont bother going there noob" attitude and its totally wrong. I wreck faces in CW as I do in normal matches despite being a solo player most of the time.

Everyone can have fun in CW, and winning against a lol-premade of 12 is even more fun.

I haven't jumped into CW yet only because I found it hard to see before joining a queue whether there are already people lining up for it. Would be nice to see that info before even selecting to defend or attack a planet. That way you could jump into the planet that needs 1 or 2 more to start.

But I am glad to see the PUG attitude kept alive. I have always been a PUG and got annoyed by the hate towards PUG players. My unit is also a small 4 man group atm so we expect to always have a solo player mentality team, and that's fine with us. Guess this will be changing from Clans vs IS to PUG vs Premade :P

It's solo friendly. More so on defence than attack.

My first attack game was a four man and a few twos with pugs. Against a falcon eight man and some pugs. Lost by 50%...

Defense though? Pretty rad.

When we stopped running as 12 man, we gave the pick ups the comms info. When they joined us all went well. When they didn't it went to hell. Not sure if they didn't hablo or what, but just wandered around either not pushing or doing less than 300 damage between 4 mechs.

You can have fun as solo, but if you end up with a larger group you will get allot more out of it if you get on coms with them. (if they don't mind, but don't know ANY that would say no if you asked)

I am a perpetual solo queue player and in the two drops I could pull off last night I really enjoyed the new mode. I can see how its going to be really more for the competitive players but...pugs can play in the sandbox as well. The goals are simple and the maps don't let you wander aimlessly looking for a battle. I signed on as a Ghost Bear and immediately regretted it, it locked me into playing with only Clan mechs. That's fine, it is CW after all I just do not like the selection of Clan mediums.

Overall its a really awesome an exciting bit of the game they added, I hope they keep up the good work.

I dropped solo in one CW engagement last night (all I had time for) and even though we were a hodge podge of small groups and soloists up against a full 12 man and we came withing 1:31 seconds of winning. I, without coms or any coordination whatsoever, managed the top match score on my team entire team and earned over 525k credits for the match.

Point is, so far anyway, I have not seen any reason why a Lone Wolf or soloist can't participate and contribute in CW. Obviously I doubt they will find as much success as the would being part of a coordinated 12 man with comms but it is mostly the skill of the pilot that is going to determine how well they do in CW.

Crazy german if you are the knoxx I know, use team chat! Works fine with the pop tart alfa strikes, type what you saw. Coms is more a social tool than tactical in MWO.

How do you even get games during a solo drop? I got the little flashing message, "Planet X needs help", figures why not so pressed the buttons to join. But then nothing happens. Tried for a few planets, then just stayed in the lobby for one of them. I have been waiting for 15 minutes now with no names showing up in the drop list or anything? Why is it calling for help if there are no players available anyway?
There should be a way to join every planet queue if you just wanna game. I don't really care what specific planet I'm on, I would just like to try a game of CW....
