I found a copy of the Dark Born Assassin's hand book. I will quote a passage from the forward, "The most common and effective psyop is known as ‘Manufactured Consent’ and ‘Manufactured Dissent’. When used together, these techniques are specifically designed to gather consensus for a particular opinion while simultaneously creating controlled, and easily dismissed, dissent by way of a carefully crafted opposing view."

uh yeah we know...that's what he's been trying to do for like 10,000 thousand words now.

Only I have found a copy of "the interwebs guide to forum usage". I will quote a passage from the foreword: "one shall not engage a troll in his arguments as he will surely try and twist some sh*t around and sound all smart" , "Ones only defense against a troll is to call him by his true name so others can see his true form, he is powerless against this attack, because he can only resort to more trollery to defend himself thereby proving your claim" "for the troll has no interest in actual discussion, his goal is only to further his own perverted ideas of self importance and ego"

If the shoe fits I say ;)

Trolls live a lonely existence, no family, no friends, living under bridges, trying to eat unwary forum goers. It is tempting to feed them, they seem so sad...but no..... its best just to call em when you see em, ......like a light rush on Boreal!

This thread went to **** with all the Noesis garbage.

Lil buddy, this isn't EvE. You're not a mastermind. Your posts read like JRR Tolkien describing a landscape, and just as edifying to read. Everyone is now dumber having read your florid prattle. I award you no points.

Can we return to faction posturing and thinly veiled threats of retaliation, please?

I don't know but either way the IS masterminds behind all this chaos are surely enjoying this thread with some popcorn.

The longer this thread goes on, the dumber and more confused I become. I shall return henceforth the moment all of Noesis' posts have been edited over to become Ducreux captions.

I cannot confirm or deny I have ever had a conversation with Coffinail or indeed introduced myself to him and the motivations of the Dark Born back in the day when being added to the Strana Mechty forums

We have contacted each other however, but one of the admirable qualities I like about Coffi is that he has a mature head on him that I can relate to and despite affiliations he at least has the where with all to listen, and I mean really listen to you even if he doesn't agree or offers counter opinion. He can at least accept the facts presented to him and is capable of seeing that the boundaries with truth are from a point of pespective.

He is one who I consider understands what diplomacy is about as a result.

Just a shame his name reminds me of Coffee not Tea.

"I can not confirm that I have interacted with Coffinail, nor discussed the Dark Born when I initially joined the Strana Mechty forums.

In our later correspondences, I have found that I admire his maturity, which I share. Despite his affiliations, he has the ability to truly listen to your points regardless of his opinions. He is capable of accepting that individual truths are subjective.

He truly understands diplomacy.

It is just a shame his name reminds me of Coffee and not Tea."

Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. Unless, of course, you are writing a novel in the 19th century.

Thanks for the good words.

Well, strategically for us it wasn't a distraction. We had already wrapped up our IS world, and were getting nothing but pug matches that were less than thrilling when they did try to defend it. What it became at that point was an excellent way to get a fast match against a tougher enemy.

Why is skirmishing and using an attack lane that PGI gave us for this game mode lame? Technically, no cease fire exists. It is an abstract concept between a few groups. Despite it being abstract and technically non-binding, MS has given the cease fire a serious nod for the most part and have even gone so far as to post to announce and communicate about any attacks, such as the proposal to Wolf to get the attack lane moved (all just a theory of course, since PGI programming might not grant us the lane we imagine). I'd say that kind of communication is the opposite of lame. But if you get right to the bottom of what people are flipping out about, this game mode allows for an attack on that lane, it's part of the game, and if a group decides to use it it is neither trolling or disrespectful. It's playing the game. I can certainly respect that you would like the border to remain quiet. It's not like a war on Wolf was declared by CGB. This is a border skirmish.

I am not sure if there is any better of a controlled environment either for these battles. Seems to me it's a perfect vehicle for it. If Wolf and Bear get their IS attack lane attacks maxed, then why not enjoy a border skirmish where we get to hone our tactics and earn some good CW money?

And not that it matters but for the others that think "fun" is about saving face..I posted this was for fun before the attacks began.

Merc units can switch sides at will, so their long-term goals are fundamentally different than loyalist units. And I'm sure you're aware that you attacked us before our Ras target attack lane was maxed out, so let's not pretend about that. And even if we did both max our Ras targets out, what about hypothetical Kuritan and Steiner targets? And even if we max those out, it's not like they're going to sit on their hands and let their territory fall in the final hours.

It's been an annoyance to us in Clan Wolf that we've had to deal with 3 separate, unprovoked, organized attempts at our space over the past several weeks from merc units that their clans can deny responsibility for. This much should be obvious. Smoke Jaguar had to deal with something similar at the very start, but that has not resumed and will hopefully stay over.

I'm not the most well-versed on BattleTech lore, so there are probably exceptions to what I am about to say. But what I referred to is lame because while clans did feud with each other, they didn't hire outside units to attack someone else for them. Clans wouldn't hire mercs... they'd probably hunt them down. It doesn't make sense for an IS unit to temporarily become a clan unit and yet not obey that clan, or for a merc unit to operate in Clan space, or for an IS resistance unit to be supported by the Clans themselves. However you like to translate these actions into something more "canon," it's nonsensical. Personally I'd rather defend against an IS push on our front, and not because I think it'd be easier (because it wouldn't be).

If any of this came across as angry or belittling, that was not the intention. It's just the way I write. Like I said, they're good games. And I can only hope that I and my trothkin will improve our skills at an accelerated rate as a result.

If you want a more formal or productive discussion, I'm sure you could always speak to any of the clans' leadership. I'm just a Warrior, and there are some topics I have had to avoid.

I've long since given up trying to save face... at least I like to think so. If I win, I win. If I lose, I lose. That's all there is to it. ;-)

Also to kinda build on this. You all are aware that this map will reset in a few months. Nothing we are doing here is permanent. It's a trial run. PGI will see whats going wrong, fix what needs to be fixed then move on. I think its not a bad idea to look at these mechanics and see where the mechanics start to break down. The number of planets one holds is really trivial, its only good to hold an attack lane. If we're all going by lore which I know some LOVE to do, its already broke. We're not supposed to be as far as we are anyway.

Sorry Saxie, that presumption has nothing to back it. The question on that topic was asked in the last Town Hall.
