You want to install Dx bcs MS somehow manages to screw up the Dx that comes with your Windows Disk, bcs you may run games that need a specific version of the older Dx Files, etc.
And MS did a slight update to Dx a while ago you probably may only get from the Webinstaller bcs MS likes to give it not out to you sometimes.
Though - usualy - most games install Dx anyway so you may have already the up to date version...

It does not break a thing to do it!

Yeah, just patched up. No 64 bit option. Closed launcher, re-opened - still no 64 bit option.

Why do we need to install the DirectX End User Runtime crap, especially if we're using DX11? Essentially it's just a ton of old DX9 stuff, some of it dating back to 2005. The installer was last updated in 2011 and it doesn't even list support for Windows 8. I don't understand why I would want to install a bunch of old DX9 components, some dating back as much as 9 years?!

They are not software versions. they are function libraries responsible for recreating shadows, lighting, input commands, 3d/2d draws, etc, etc...

think of it like this:
i have a function if front of me which is shown with + sign. It receives 2 or more numbers and returns the sum of them. This function is from many thousand years ago. But i need it in order to boot a 2015 gaming rig monster.!

Man, I hope my PC can handle it... i've got an old Q6600 that i'm probably going to have to overclock, paired with a brand spanking GTX970. It's like having a Ferrari with pushbike wheels.

Oh well, FOR SCIENCE.

The delay is OK. They've had a lot to do over the last two months.

I've un-installed my client, cleaned this disk up a bit, and am ready to wait.

With the contest coming up, expect another hotfix. Might want to wait until after next Tuesday.

Not sure but when using 64 bit it makes everything look blurry unfocused. any one else having issue. I can drop resolution down a bit and it helps but not playable for me like that. Running a high end computer so its not my specs.

Got to say I'm loving the 64-bit. Graphics look much improved such as particles on Viridian Bog and reflections on the inside of mechs (is it just me?). FPS consistently 60-70.

It does seem like FPS is improved in the Faction room... dunno if this is due to the 64 bit or maybe they fixed that.

FPS is about the same, but with 64-bit my CPU fan isn't screaming while playing anymore, so it's a positive for me.

just throwing this out there if anyone runs into this. if you are unable to launch the 64bit client because of missing .dlls

i had to download microsoft c++ 2010 64bit and also DX9 end user runtime both from MS download website to get the game to launch. (win7 64bit)

just throwing that out there if anyone runs into that problem.

In the testing ground I had a good FPS increase I guess 4gb VS 12GB on a laptop matters ! will test CW now.

There are actually files that are not installed by default on Vista/Win7 that are required for the 64-bit client (chances are, only the 32-bit stuff are already there only).
