You see a lance of these jump over that gate wall your in some ****.
People keep saying stuff like this for urbies and the panther and I keep shaking my head. With MWO's armor system an urbie has armor equivalent to literally every other 35 ton mech. Same reason all other tonnage groups have no difference in armor amounts available.
Note: I absolutely loathe that mechanic because it takes away something that could make chassis unique, but it is what it is.

have you missed the part where a lot of mechs are getting quirks to that base armor, my friend? The 102 or so total hps to my Hunchbacks RT, for instance is significantly more than other 50 tonners.
Also, tiny size does help quite a bit.

Did that happen on the second quirk pass? Because if so, I haven't had the chance to look at it too much.

nope, on the first. And many other mechs got buffs to armor and internals in various locations, the Atlas, Awesome, etc.

I'm loving my 4G(F) even more than back in the day.
What I can't figure out is how to get more than 3 tons of AC20 ammo on the bad boy. I'm still running a standard 250 engine with Ferro and Endo with 3 ML for back up. I hate the idea of getting rid of my zombie laser, but 21 rounds just ain't cutting it anymore.

Honestly? Drop to a 225 std.
I pack 4.5 tons ammo, and the loss of speed, while annoying, was not that big a deal, as long as you don't lose your situational awareness.
Post quirk, I swapped from my traditional Can Opener build to this
HBK-4G
And have been running and gunning like a Boss. Damage is usually in the 5-600 range, with 3+ kills, with almost no matches below 400 anymore (those usually being due to a very bad choice on my part, or the team getting rolled like snailsnot) and a high of 906 damage. It is hard to break 1000 anymore though, simply because of ammo constraints.
But I'd rather pack 500 damage and 5 kills and a win, than 1000 damage, 2 kills and a loss.

you have to drop armour and the head laser for a small (or the arms to 2 smalls, one med in the head. like so;

top one is mine, used that fit since forever, bottom one is maybe a bit easier to drive. with the quirks on the 20, you really do need 4t ammo

Something about 89 KPH tweaked gives me some peace of mind thought, so we'll see. Thanks for the tip!

I wouldn't stop you.
I still pilot my Cicada 3C on a regular basis and that has to be hands down the worst mech in MWO right now
Believe it or not, I've done well with it in CW. Mostly because mine is a lightweight decent alpha sniper with an ER PPC and an AC/10, so I can have a reasonably fast PPFLD sniper mech, a more typical brawler light and two assaults.
Works pretty well on defense and offense, people tend to ignore it so I can light up any hostiles or Omega at range without being attacked myself.
Killing a streaktaro with one of these is just priceless.
I've retired that drop deck for now though, I'm working on some other mechs at the moment.

Yup, always done well in my 4G (not so much the others, TBH), but NOT having the big gun pop the moment my RT armor is breached is actually pretty huge.
I can't count the number of games I have gotten breached early from not seeing a Derp Whale in time, and managed to still keep the BFG till i ran out of ammo. That's probably the best part of it all for me.
But I sure don't mind the improved RoF, either, as it allows it to fillmore the "mobile gun/juggernaut role it was intended, but doubled armor negated.
I haven't gotten "better" results, so much as much more consistent results, if that makes sense? (Aka, top scores really pretty much the same, but avg is noticeably improved.) And most of that inconsistency came down to incidental fire popping my big gun early, and having to fight the match with 2-3 Mlasers.

Makes sense to me. I also chassis hop a hell of a lot so little differences like armor and stuff weren't really apparent to me after the quirkening so that probably contributed to my lack of noticing it
