The CGR-1A5 is a whole different Charger...

Still a stock (aka canon variant) of the Charger though. Just like the BNC-3M, BNC-3L are all LEGAL stock play variants for tournament. Or how you have Stock MAD-3R, 3D, 3L, 3M. Etc.

Heh, try a city defense scenario, running 2 of them, and 2 HBK-4G. Might want to give the opfor some extra tonnage to make it fair. I've found in CQB that Charger can tear an Atlas a new one.

Heh, try a city defense scenario, running 2 of them, and 2 HBK-4G. Might want to give the opfor some extra tonnage to make it fair. I've found in CQB that Charger can tear an Atlas a new one.

I was thinking a map, that would let me be able to get the Charger room, to you know, charge! Really use that 4/6 movment to get the most out of the charge.

ac20 and 2 srm6 are more useful....repeatable and do less damage to you. Plus good city maps have main boulevards, if you just have to charge...but why not use the junker standard for that?

I don't get how group manage this. My gaming group has been together for nearly 15 years now. I'm the only one that doesn't GM (I'm horrible at it) but each of the other 5 do and all of them run at least 2 campaigns. We alternate which campaign is run depending on who's available and to give GMS a rest between campaigns as life always has ways of interrupting or causing problems.

Running the same campaign session after session seems like a good way to kill a group and not to mention there's so much out there to play. How can you be limited to just one?

Well often, the guy whom is up for GM'ing in that go, crafts a story and we play through it... It works for us, and it may not work for everyone else. That's not to say, that we don't run multiple campagins at once, usualy have a sub one going on when one or two of the guys are on ship, (We've got two guys on Active duty with the RCN [Royal Canadain Navy]) so we usually have one that we run when they are away.

Nah, man, I mean like we rotate by the week. Tonight it's Thief (based on the video game). Last week was MechWarrior 3050...perfor that MW 3025. There's the Matrix, Star Wars (one set in the Rise of the Rebellion, another in the Edge of the Empire system by Fantasy Flight. A system we call Heroes, but the only thing it has in common with the TV series is that people have super-powers. Pathfinder, 2nd ed D&D (a couple of them), nWoD, oWoD, Battlestar...and probably more. This weekend will be the Edge of the Empire or the nWoD Werewolf campaign depending on who wants to run.

Wow, that is intense! I was going to chime in with my group's proclivities, but I just been schooled. We do that level of variety, but we focus on completing a campaign before switching to the next GM. Old people need to focus on one story at a time.

Hey! I'm not old..... Only 32.....

I just find it hard to have distinct character personalities for more than two or three characters at once.. then again I try to treat them as a person and not just a set of numbers on a sheet... but hey if you can do that for more than that, more power too you.

Did I mention the part we've been at this for nearly 15 years? Not exactly spring chickens here. Mostly this came up as a result of occasionally have a life, ie school, work, hobbies, etc. Not everyone could make it so rather than being forced to either npc the character or just cancel people just started up new campaigns.

That Matrix campaign I mentioned has been running since 2003 or 2004. Granted it doesn't get as run as much as it used to as its one of the 5 campaigns that involve all 6 members of the group but it's still going. It's really weird having characters that started out older than you but have only aged a few years and are now a decade or more younger than you are.

This way also has the added bomus of avoiding GM burn out as its very rare that GM'S will have to run more often than once every two weeks.

Oh, I also forgot to mention the campaigns I listed above are the ones I'm involved in...there's still a bunch more that were started up for when I'm unavailable.

As for characters e try to keep them varied, interesting and different but there are preferences and archetypes develop. That said it's also created a bit of side amusement as we watch TV, movies and other media we get to identify which other characters we see as belonging to which player.

edit: I suppose to get back on topic, new IS variants. LCT-3V is kinda interesting. I run mine with 4 MGs and an MPL. I suppose with this thing the 2 energy in the CT helps for me since I can load a pair of SPLs for a bit more DPS, but that's about it. For most people, I'm assuming they'd go with ER LLs, so, what's the point? I suppose you could make load in a pair of MPLs at the cost of a pair of MGs & some ammo.

Similarly the HGN-732b. Hey, it's great to get more Royal variants, but really, not seeing the point on this one. Only difference between this and the standard 732 is drop a pair of heat sinks, upgrade the rest to doubles, add in Artemis and a 3rd ML. Since the 732 has 3 energy slots in that RT, I'm not really seeing the point here.

Lastly, the Royal Griffin? Ok, that's relevant. A 55 ton ECM is going to be a nice response to the Hellbringer. I've got a feeling it's going to have bunches of SRMs and some MPLs for most people, though you better damned well believe that some are gonna load the thing with LRMs like a half-size DDC.

I personally feel for the next IS resistance mechpack if PGI only picked one 40 tonner it would be the assassin. Just because its opposite of the cicada, and has gotten a lot of love in the past vs some of the other 40 ton choices.

But for the rest of the pack it will probably be the Mongoose, Black Knight, and Cyclops. Also they might try to squeeze in the Mauler just cause as an bonus
