So how easy does it come apart under fire?

Damned near max armor. I cannot give a proper response to that yet, as both times I used The Gavel, the team pussed out on a push at the last fraction of a second, making me eat a ton of fire. That said, it survived 8 mechs beating on it for a good 5 seconds, and I had one arm, both side torsos, and the CT stripped before death.

I'll take that to mean, she's a tough one then...

Okay, that makes it easy for me, flank and murder like all other assaults.... expect for Kodiaks... can't flank those bears....

Do you guys realize that maybe NEXT WEEK the new jumbo mech pack will be announced?!?!

Will we see the Mad Cat MK II? (PGI would be mad if not)

Gotta admit, the Supernova spreads dmg very well. Who knew? Judging from the very first glimps we got from its artworks.
Tried several games with my 8 ERLL Snova. Survives well from alot of fire.

I got the impression that it would be more "variety," less "jumbo."

Something like 1 variant from each of 4 different chassis, or some such. I'm probably just projecting my own assumptions at it though.

Guess we'll see, Soon™.

could be, I don't recall any specifics being given, tbh, but I could have missed them easily enough, too.

Still unless you are a PokeMech Collector, Jumbo Packs are pretty much the absolute worst option they could go to.

The impression I was getting from the Roadmap is that they'll be releasing bundles of heroes, and then you'll just pre-order the heroes while everyone will gain access to the default chassis for MC and c-bills at the same time. Apparently new mechs will be announced via hero preorders in sets of two (at least for now) alternating between IS and Clan mechs.

Quote

Upcoming ‘Mechs
Supernova, releasing in February
Assassin, releasing in March
Roughneck, releasing in April
Javelin, releasing in May
Unannounced Inner Sphere Hero ‘Mechs, set for pre-order launch in March
Unannounced Clan Hero ‘Mechs, set for pre-order launch this April

*SNIP*

Coinciding with the early March announcement of these new technologies, four new ‘Mechs will be announced and launched for pre-order to herald this new era. The Inner Sphere and Clans will both be receiving two ‘Mechs, with at least one of their two respective ‘Mechs hailing from the 3060+ era.

We were even having discussions of what two mechs each side would be getting a mere few pages ago, in this very thread. Forget already?

Also, it's IS mechs announced in March, so if the Mad Cat MK II is getting announced for preorder in March we've got some serious problems in PGI's understanding of the Battletech canon (even more-so than normal).

The pack will be 2 IS + 2 Clan mechs (but we don't know if 1 for each weight class, which I actually hope for). With the 3060's advance, there are so many great options that jumbo won't be bad at all.

Nope, as I ninja'd you just a few moments before, 1 IS pack of 2 Heroes in March and 1 Clan pack of 2 Heroes in April.

Personally, as I stated in the earlier discussions, I think they're probably going to match weight classes between the packs, instead of doing one of each of the four weight classes split between both faction and pack. Otherwise you'd open up to all sorts of complaints over the "superiority" or "favoritism" of the choices in mechs for the packs.

Therefore, if we see the Mad Cat MK II and the Uziel (two of the most likely choices via nostalgia and older MW popularity) then the MK II will probably be paired with some medium and the Uziel with some assault.

However, if they did MK II and Fafnir/Templar (likely choices for MW4 nostalgia assaults) as the 3060+ mechs then I'd love to see some lights thrown in there as the other options.

Seriously, I was with the illusion that would be a 4 mechs pack.

Mmm... we are getting 4 mechs announced, the hows and whys, IIRC were never actually filled in.

Here is what I saw:
  • March: jumbo pack of 4 mechs, 2 IS and 2 Clans. (the term jumbo pack was used by Russ himself at the time - I don't remember if in the "townhall" or in Twitter)
  • March: new hero variants for existing IS mechs (for instance: Zeus, Enforcer, Grasshopper, Wolfhound...), maybe in a pack just like the Clans recently received.
  • April: new hero variants for existing Clan mechs (for instance: Gargoyle, Mist Lynx, Hellbringer, Shadow Cat...).
There is nothing in the roadmap that indicates one thing or another (your interpretation or mine). But hey, let me have hope.

Um . . . just look at the Jan, Feb, and beyond Roadmap. That's where the text I'm quoting comes from. It seemed pretty cut and dry to me.

EDIT: https://mwomercs.com...ary-and-beyond/

Towards the end of "Looking Ahead" and then again under "And finally, a special announcement . . ."

EDIT 2:

Again, it's in pretty plain language in the Roadmap. I honestly don't understand how this was missed, as it's mentioned twice. The first mention makes it clear that the IS and Clans are coming separate, and the second mention makes it clear that it's 2 & 2 with at least 1 of each coming from 3060+.

January
"You can look forward to the announcement of a new set of ‘Mechs in early March, ushering in much more than a simple adjustment to 'Mech Pack structure…."
February
"No February Pre-Order 'Mech
In anticipation for the announcement of a new 'Mech Pack in early March, we'd like to provide a heads up now that February will not feature any 'Mech or 'Mech Pack announcements."
(so also not sure why Odanan thinks we will have an announcement next week)
Looking Ahead
"Upcoming ‘Mechs
Supernova, releasing in February
Assassin, releasing in March
Roughneck, releasing in April
Javelin, releasing in May
Unannounced Inner Sphere Hero ‘Mechs, set for pre-order launch in March
Unannounced Clan Hero ‘Mechs, set for pre-order launch this April"

And Finally.....

So, no I don't see anything stating we will be getting the new mech packs 2 by 2, those months, but that we WILL be getting the (probably) MISSING Heroes from each faction at those times. Could be some, could be all, that, is NOT stated.

What you have down, is taken two separate pieces of information, and combined them, which is POSSIBLE, but there is no actual source there that actually does link those two data points. But the "And Finally" mentions FOUR NEW MECHS. Not new variants, not heroes, but New Mechs.

So, no, it really is not conclusive.

So . . . you're rehashing information away from the logical progression of the posting of information in the roadmap to say that you don't believe that there's 2 new IS mechs to be announced in March and 2 new Clan mechs to be announced in April. Okay . . .

I mean, it does clearly state Two UNANNOUNCED (AKA new) IS mechs in March and Two UNANNOUNCED (AKA new, as well) Clan mechs in April are to be put out for preorder. They then state that the four new mechs (total) will be announced in sets of Two (so logically dots are connected here to coincide with the March and April announcements) with at least 1 from each set coming from the post 3060 era of chassis selections.

If you don't want to believe that is the case, and we're going to see a 4-pack of new mechs announced in March, then all I can say is prepare to be disappointed when only two IS mechs are announced.

You have Russ's ear on Twitter quite a bit . . . if you don't believe the logical conclusion of this then go ask him. At the very least I have a feeling he'd be willing to clear up the release order of the mechs, even if he doesn't tell you the details of the chassis or their loadouts (and any potential new 3060+ equipment). If he says that I'm wrong . . . then I'm wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time (we are human, after all). However, the logical progression of the Roadmap post is pretty conclusive.

I'm wondering if we'll have an assault mech sale this weekend to coincide with the SNV release.

RIP Assault percentages in Solo Queue.
