Well, now that we have RACs, I have this strange desire to mimic the Heavy from TF2. Anyone know of any humanoid IS Assault mechs with at least 2 ballistics in the arms? Preferably one with decent defensive quirks.

Doesn't that hero mauler have a B in each arm? Also, I thought one of the Victors has a 2B arm, but I might be mistaken.

All this speaking about "new Mechs" but did you realize something:
(Yes this is again about the 11 crits)
Just a reminder there are 24 Mech/Variants in BT that have a HeavyGauss or IHeavyGauss - an only 8 (smaybe) can have a Heavy Gauss.... it doesn't matter that there are some quads.
  • Marauder II 4S Light Engine - NOPE
  • Vanquisher 5V Compact Engine - YES
  • Annihilator 2AX - YES
  • Fafnir 5X - Yes
  • Fafnir - YES
  • Fafnir Peter - YES
  • Atlas S2 - Light Engine - NOPE

  • Trebaruna TR-XH - Nope (circus is it?)
  • Hauptmann - C - YES (but only when you use some mojo to "correct" the Record Sheet - but given Thunderbolt and Banshee not going to happen)
  • Banshee 6S - NOPE
  • Highlander 738 - Yes
  • Higlander 694 - NOPE
  • Stalker 8S - Nope
  • Victor 10S - Nope
  • Goliath 4S - Nope (Ok Circus correct)
  • War Dog - Nope
  • Orion 3 MX - Nope
  • Dragon Fire - Nope
  • Caesar - Nope
  • Barghest 3T - Nope (you can take....
  • Barghest 4T Nope ....your darn circus....
  • Barghest 4X Nope ...and tell somebody who is not embrassed)
  • Crusader 8S - Nope
  • Hollander II
I can do the same for the LB20X but the list ist to long.
a nice side note:
The Barghest (a quad yeah i know - but it could be constructed as biped and you would have the same issue) - has 6 cannon variants. Only the 7T would be possible in MWO and that would also be a nope - because of the MML and the need to swap ammo (ok the ATM solution might work)

That list alone makes a great point for the reduction of the Heavy Gauss and LBX/20 critical size in 1.

The Crusader 8S make a good case to reduce them both to 9 actually... the 8S uses an IS XL engine with a HGR...

Mechs like the Bushwacker L1, Nightstar 9S and Templar make a good case to reduce the LB-20X down to 9, due to them having an arm mounted LB-20X.... On top of the the LB-20X not being worth it at 10 slots for the IS, maybe at 9 slots, but very attractive at 8 slots.

I would also drop all LBX crits to uac level. This would hardly effect the ilb2x however.
To reduce the number of crits would even be better

Alternative allow empty dynamical crits. When you have ES you have dynamic criticals do the same for the 20class and HGR.

It's an Uziel.... They were not known for having much punch to begin with... They are known as just being average, and unliked in TT/lore.... About the only way in TT to make them really good was to fit them with clan spec kit.... even then more specialized units were better. The Uziel was a generalist unit, so it could do a little bit of everything (aside from indirect fire support) but it couldn't really take a hit as well as a unit like a Centurion.

That being said, I think this is about as punchy as you can make it realistically...

I played a locust for the very first time this weekend and fell in love with it. I got over 850 damage, 7 kills, and finished the last 6 enemy mechs on my own after my team died off. I'm not here to gloat, but rather to start a mob pushing for an equivalent clan mech! We need a dam 20 ton mech for the clans that can run just as fast and hide behind stupidly small cover just like the locust!

The Piranha (still would prefer a Firemoth) is needed ASAP, dammit! The Phantom would also be a wonderful addition, but the real point is the clan NEEDS that level of agility, speed, and size so badly!

If you want that combination, then the Piranha should be the last mech you'd advocate for. It would have the speed and maybe the agility(if it got lucky) but it would get absolutely ruined by Volumetric Scaling. Not to mention that it is overspecialised towards killing infantry, something that isn't in game.

Why not Locust IIC?

Not really. Its just a Piranha 2 that dropped a few lasers for a TC1 and a LAP. Still would be just as bad, especially since Micro lasers are technically anti-infantry weapons.

Pirahna will be *fine*.
You know what 12 Machine Guns and 3 Energy slots will do to targets?
Won't be pretty.

The other variants are fine too.

3 energy slots that will probably not end up being used and 12 machineguns that would require you to make a fatal compromise in order to get enough ammo for them.

I don't care what light, fast mech it is, as long as it's tiny, fast as hell (ideally running 150kph before speed tweak), and can carry weaponry similar or better than the IS locust.

The Firemoth would be awesome, but the MASC/Speed issue pretty much excludes it for the foreseeable future unfortunately. I've got no opposition to any other mechs in the 20-25 ton range just as long as the clans finally receive a comparable mech.

I know we've got the Viper and Ice-Ferret, both of which are plenty of fun, but they are also much larger than the locust and can't quite be played the same way.

The optimised Pirahna (Endo, Ferro, CDHS, 107pts Armour) would have:
(If it gets it) XL200, 6.5T, 26S available
XL190 / 195, 7T, 24S available
XL180, 7.5T, 24S available
XL170, 8T, 22S available
XL145, 8.5T, 20S available
XL100, 9T, 18S available

meaning with 12 MG, and a half ton of ammo for each, you're at 6T, leaving 1-2T free for energy weapons, which could happily be any flavour of ML, or some flavour of ML+2ERSL, etc

Making it even better, the arms? They have nothing. You could opt to strip those, if you wanted to.
