Also, Odanon, for MWO, two mechs at two weight classes is NOTHING like the Arctic Wolf pack. The Arctic Wolf has all the same geometry, period, whether it's Omnimech or Battlemech. The Hollander and Hollander II would be two entirely different chassis with two entirely different models at two entirely different size. Volumetric scaling and Unique Hardpoint modelling make that a definite. Therefore, you're proposing making two completely different mechs and then selling them for the cost of a single mech. PGI would be complete morons to do such a thing . . . it'd cause them significant financial losses for the development costs vs. pack sales . . . especially for a pack that -like the Hellspawn- likely would not sell well at all.

The model wouldn't be that different. They could even apply to the chassis the same automatic technique they used for rescaling all mechs (of course it would be cooler it they made some visual differences in the chassis instead).

But hey, I'm not ASKING for the Hollander (never liked that mech). I'm just saying it's not impossible (and it certainly has fans).

One reason PGI is delaying the new mech must be because of this.

I would not mind to see a Charger. It's a good mech if you overlook the 1A1 and it is a stepping stone to the Kuritan Hatamoto.

The stock -1A1 would be bad, but I don't plan to run it stock. It could definitely be ok thanks to the MechLab, especially with a bit of hardpoint inflation (which is easy since every hardpoint is in a different location).
The -1A1 and -SA5 are the reasons why I like the Charger, most of the other variants aren't all that exiting.

Tina chimed in another thread and verified that the reason they're delaying is to just finish up the pre-order special camo.

Not likely to happen. The exact quote puts a great deal of context into mech announcements and planning. Removing her name because I doubt she wants/needs a tag to this thread, but retaining the post link:

View PostQuote

Just wanted to note that upcoming 'Mechs are locked into production months ahead of their public announcements and are not altered once locked into our development schedule. The 'Mech announcement delay is simply to finish up a pattern on the pre-order concept.

But thank you for your patience!!

I mean, realistically it will be Argus. It is not a bad mech after all.

Pre-Jihad Mechs left which MIGHT tickle my Elmo:

Note: Leaving future "Classics" off the list, because 1) I don't think we will see more Macross based designs before HG loses their license, and 2) I would expect honestly that any further 3025/3050 designs might be reserved for release with MW5. Still will put the non Unseen from TRO 2750/3025/3050 up just because the Vulcan was certainly a (welcome) surprise.

TRO 2750
-Mongoose
-Hussar
-Lancelot
-Thug

TRO 3025/3050
-Dervish
-Grand Dragon
-Any OST (Just to see what Alex does with them)
-Charger

TRO 3055:
-Jackal
-Venom
-Bandersnatch
-Gunslinger
-Vapour Eagle

TRO 3058
-Emperor
-Mackie (it'd probably be bad, but it needs to happen!)
-Crossbow (Omni)

TRO 3060 (nothing interestng to me left. all my favorites are in or Quads)

TRO 3067
-Chimera
-Argus
-Arcas
-Scylla

Also of note, zero craps were given over the Meta/Comp viability. These are simply mechs that I would personally find interesting.

One week for a repaint? Alex Iglesias can do that in a couple of hours.

Wild dream: with the end of the law suit, PGI suddenly decided: "Scrap that Argus, let's release a Project Phoenix II."

So Alex Iglesias is not doing 1 single repaint, but drawing 4 mechs and their special camos:
  • Wasp for light mech;
  • Chameleon for medium mech;
  • Crusader for heavy mech;
  • Longbow for assault mech.
PS: the Chameleon was in the Battletech 2nd edition, but didn't have a miniature; and it's just a 5 tons heavier Phoenix Hawk. Long Bow didn't feature in the Battletech box, but it's clearly a Macross Unseen mech, so it makes sense add it here.

This game desperately needs quality content, not rushed job. If Alex takes more time, better for us.

Listen, if PGI is paying a top artist to take 1 week to do a simple repaint, PGI will be bankrupt soon.

Wild dream indeed. Don't forget the Stinger/Valkyrie reinforcement pack while we are dreaming. (Marauder II would probably be a stand alone).

That said, I have doubts we will see any of the above. But it's a nice dream.

We could even have a Project Test Tube Phoenix, though it wouldn't be all Macross related cuz well, not enough of them, at least with a different weight group spread. Locust IIC, Shadowhawk IIC, Rifleman IIC, Warhammer IIC.

the same was said about them spending 3-4 months and 250,000 per map.

PGI apparently exists using quantum money.

Agreed . . . it's a nice dream. I just don't see it being a huge victory pack. However, I also agree that both packs would be awesome, along with the reinforcements. I could debate the IIC pack a bit . . . I might like a Griffin IIC more than the Shadow Hawk IIC since we don't have the tech for a the SH IIC 5 yet (Plasma Cannons and AP Gauss . . . love that build).

First, PGI is literally subsidized money by the Canadian government because they're an entertainment company. While it's not enough to stand the company up by itself, it's enough to certainly let them play a bit more fiscally loose than a normal company would be able to do. I'll spare the politics and opinions to avoid breaking rules, just stating facts here.

Secondly, Alex might be able to do a repaint in a few hours, but it still has to go through production channels and be approved. He might have to do the repaint and/or adjustments a dozen times before the art lead and/or Russ decide he nailed the look that they're going for. The artist that does the mech camo patterns might also have to say how sane/feasible Alex's pattern(s) would be to put on a 3d model. Then, after that, it'd need to be formatted and prepped for the website launch and the website people (Matt Newman? Alexander Garden? Tina Benoit? Don't know who handles that specific task) would need to get the sale page ready. Therefore, aside from Alex's work, it's not just Alex that'd have to put their hands on it, so to speak.

That would make sense to why I see Canadian indie game companies like Torn Banner have managed to stayed alive and afloat for so long. I initially thought that their company would go bankrupt after the release of Mirage and how much of a colossal failure it was. Hell, I might as well start an entertainment company over in Canada if I get subsidy from the government.

I read on a thread where everyone was asking where the heck the next mech was, that Tina stated that PGI plans their mechs in month in advance. I'll quote it here:

"Just wanted to note that upcoming 'Mechs are locked into production months ahead of their public announcements and are not altered once locked into our development schedule. The 'Mech announcement delay is simply to finish up a pattern on the pre-order concept.

But thank you for your patience!!" - Tina Benoit

If that is really true then I wish they would bend their own rules, since I won't be throwing my money at them anytime soon if they have the clearing now from the agreement to release the rest of the nuseen. At least for the remaining IICs if they are planning to wait on releasing the Crusader, Longbow, Wasp, etc at Mech Con later this year for the MW5 announcement.
