no... the point was that I took the name from where James May called HIMSELF der langsamere. So HE translated it himself into German, IM just using the phrasing HE HIMSELF

You could have saved some type work if you said that earlier.

If you know who he is; my sig translates as well as anything

So James said it in German in just one episode. I'm guessing that you will be asked about it a lot in the future.

Edit; Anyhow, this is getting OT.

Its already a better mech game than the ones that came before it, so why not have faith that it will continue to get better?

Well... better is relative. At the time I think those games were better then this in comparison to other games out at the same time. Earlier mechwarrior games had enemy AI and destroyable buildings, both clearly not implemented in MWO. Further those games had a story, MWO has no story for the individual player and is just piggybacking off of a specific timeline.

I'm not saying MWO is terrible, I am saying it is limited in scope at the moment and too far driven by profit instead of by passion. Hopefully, with enough time and player investment IGP will be satisfied with their return and PGI will have enough resources to give us an impressive amount of features, features that really should have been planned on being put in the game from the very start.

I've been gaming for 20 years and it is a rare company that wants to spend any time and effort on innovation and MWO's design spec is far from innovative. What they have done, they have done decently. We currently have a mechwarrior sim counterstrike clone that is enjoyable to go and shoot things up in, that is all, anything more will require far more time and will likely wait until after the game goes gold. The only thing you should expect and DEMAND is a certain level of polish on what we do have. A proper lobby system, a proper chat room, properly support tournaments, and proper variety in maps and mechs, these are the things that are NEEDED. I don't even list Community Warfare just because it is an extra. An important extra that helps keep people interested in the game beyond just how fun it is to play.

Most fans of Top Gear know of Captain Slow.

Yeah, but not by ''der langsamere''. Which James May called himself that way in one episode.

Best multiplayer of any mechwarrior game, that's for sure.

Depends. I think its game modes are the worst of any Mech Warrior game ever. Pretty sure they even copied WoTs. So if I wanted to play WoTs, I'd just play that, but I all I get is a WoT game mode in my Mech Warrior. I don't have much choice as is, since MWO and MW:LL are pretty much the last bastions of multplayer Mech Warrior.

IIRC previous MW multiplayer game modes were pretty much straight deathmatch or CTF... With or without respawn, with or without heat, with or without unlimited ammo.

MWO wins there IMO

MW:LL Terrain Control beats MWO's Assault/Conquest game modes hands down.

MW:LL terrain control doesn't work without respawns. ;)

.. no.. straight DM is boring... love Conquest though.

I dunno, Id far prefer a game mode where the point is to kill the other people in a war machine simulator

that's the beauty, you can do either one :)

Yeah and you only need one 3L raven on the other team to lose the game even though he's the only mech left
-especially in conquest.

Hence why I dont play conquest anymore. Five or six times a day seeing that crap is enough for me to not wanna play it anymore

What I DO want to play is "kill the enemy" style war type simulation in this game.
Not Arathi Basin, or capture and hold. Whats next, Capture the flag?

It is a good candidate, but we're in for an assault right now.

PGI seems to love the mechs based on arthropods, case in point cicada, flea, and spider and the art work for King Crab

I fully expect to see the Crab, Grasshopper, Glass Spider, Fire Moth, Fire Fly, Mantis, Stinger, Wasp, Great Wyrm, Stalking Spider, Tarantula, and the Scorpion (I know, no 4 legged ones, this could change) be made by PGI at some point.

Why? Because someone at PGI loves bugs!

I don't think they love bugs so much to bring Unseen (Stinger and Wasp), Quads and some "future" mechs (Glass Spider = 3055, Great Wyrm = 3060, Stalking Spider = 3060), experimental (Mantis) and Wolf Dragons-only (Firefly).

The Grasshopper is a possibility in the near future, but the Crab's variants are all the same thing (and could all the replaced by the Hunchback 4P).

You got it right for the Fire Moth, though.

That really is interesting. I'm surprised the Zeus is running away with it in the first one. I thought it would be the Banshee, and I'm pretty sure people only voted for the King Crab because it's the assault version of the Urbanmech fascination.

I am still of the opinion that unless PGI puts in weight based drops with the Drop Ship Mutator, that any 80-tonner we get from this point on will be a burden.

With Mechs, I rank how much I want to try them out with two factors:

- Concept Art
- Cockpit

The cyclops would probably have a very cool cockpit, so I'd like to try it for that alone.

But would be useless on the battlefield...
