makes me think how cool it would be if they would have an open community art design contest for a specific chassis, let the community vote on it, then have Alex whip it up.
And then make the Modelling Dept actually scale it properly.

Agreed. I will miss the ECM in my Atlas D-DC, but Cyclops is much more adequate for it.
On the other hand, I would prefer the Banshee for the next Assault. Except for the "electronics" stuff, the Cyclops will be too much like the Atlas/Highlander/Victor/Orion loadlout.

Gotta agree.
I would love it, but it would need some SERIOUS ECM/BAP/TAG and Module Support to stand out. I'm thinking maybe not add extra hardpoints, like some models do, but maybe give it extra module slots?
(Also how about a "Command Module" that maybe takes up 2 slots, that allows it to collate the data from the other units modules and broadcast it as a "big picture" to the whole team?)

As Odanan put it, we're able to use both. The TRO date doesn't equal actual production date...just when the TRO info was collected from an in-universe stand point.
and even that is not 100%, as the "TRO 3050" went into print in 3052, and so many models in it are not produced yet. Use the Battletech Master Unit List for more concise info on what is available and when.
http://www.masterunitlist.info/
also remember that the current "TRO 3050 Upgrade" has upgrades to the base units, most of which won't exist for 15-20 years.

That's why you get the originals, and don't bother with the "upgrades"

I think the Tech Readouts were my most favorite part of Battletech, especially 3025 and 2750 with all the in depth fluff/etc.

don't forget the 3026!!!!
And the first edition House Books were spectacular, unlike the newer ones! And I totally agree. I have all the stuff from 1st thru 3rd ed, funnily enough.... I play 1st Ed Mechwarrior........

3026 wasn't bad but I wish they had combined it with the other readouts, so they would kind of cover EVERYTHING. I've got mostly stuff through 2nd edition, and yeah the original House books were a LOT meatier then the more recent ones. The old mercenaries book was great too...

From an in-universe standpoint, the TROs are the functional equivalents of the Jane's books.

They need a TRO 3039 "Phoenix Edition" with Reseens in it. That was my biggest knock on the 3039. No WHM. no MAD< no THUD, etc.

Reactions to the Project Phoenix TRO were rather mixed and I think they wanted to avoid that. They need to have complete redesigns so that we can move past all this reseen/unseen crap and just get back to them being used. Almost need to do another run of the TRO's, one for each era again with all the updated art and fluff.
