I see it in almost the same way...

It is against every Battletech Sense to strip an Mech completly of its armor only to carry 2 AC/20...

Dont think this was in mind PGI... maybe they will see the problem *hoppingfaithfull*

Wouldn't hold your breath. Double Armor and Unlimited Hardpoints are causing a lot of the balance issues and seeing how they tend to develop the game doesn't support the idea they'd listen to any drastic change to the formula.

The armor limitation we already have in game is legit. Only difference is here we can allot armor points freely where in TT, it had to be by tons. In that, there was a maximum limit:

Maximum Armor: For ease of reference, the maximum total Armor Factor for each tonnage of ’Mech is shown on the Internal Structure Table (p. 56). Note that it is always permissible for a ’Mech to have the maximum possible armor, even if this requires leaving a few points of armor unallocated. For example, a 50-ton ’Mech can have a maximum armor factor of 169. In order to get this much standard armor, a ’Mech must have 11 tons of armor (11 x 16 = 176). The extra 7 points of armor that cannot be assigned are simply lost.

I think they incorporated that in their own way cdlord. Currently it is unwise to have .xx tons of armor on your 'Mech should .xx not be a .00 ton or .50 ton. If any number but .00 or .50 tonnage are used then that is simply lost. So say you have 10.66 tons of armor, but armor is maxed out you do lose that .34 tons of total tonnage on the 'Mech. I believe this is the MW2 system of how armor is distributed, and I can't remember how MW3 made their armor system. At least it's not MS's version of the armor system where everything was laid out nicely in .1 ton increments.

I'm just sayin.... There's precedence for an alternative, but that alternative is less desirable than what we have now. I'm fine with the armor the way it is. I'd be more willing to support a somewhat stock mech game where you cannot switch engines or weapons.

Banshee, an option to select stock mech game for sure! Banshee. when are we getting our Banshee, because the Banshee is well overdue, and a fast 95ton Banshee would be a good hunter/killer, so give me mah Banshee please. ;) Posted Image

I never said DOUBLE UP ARMOR and make UNLIMITED HARDPOINTS!!!

There should be a MIN requirement for every Chasis as there is a MAX also! thats all i said.

Its good Hardpoints are restricted...

I don't think you quite understood what I said.

Armor is already doubled and hardpoints are already unlimited. You can put any weapon in any hardpoint given space inside a 'mech. Both of these are causing any number of issues with balancing the game and we keep getting contrived and complicated solutions to these issues that further take MW:O away from being the game it should be. And before anyone cries "NO MECHWARRIOR 4" I don't want their solution to hardpoints either.

Back on topic!!!!

Light: Mercury or Wolfhound.
Medium: Wolverine came out so I'm spent and happy with mediums for a good while.
Heavy: Guillotine or Axman (without the Ax.)
Assault: Cyclops or Hatamoto-Chi

Bonus Unseen Edition!

Light: Valkyrie
Medium: Phoenix Hawk
Heavy: WHAMMY

Ok, i realy missunderstood u, sorry.

But its not TT, its a shooter (more or less) and if they had let evrything similar to BT TT, it would be over very fast...

and in fact that Clans will arive anywhen, then there is modular sys so u also can put weapons of a class (E, B, M) on any hardpoint that fits... so whats the deal?

I just think a min Armor req would benefit us...

Would love teh Warhammer, but at least ATM the lawsuit happy lawyers at HG make that doubtful at best. (Or would require massive redesign work to the point most "Hammer fans would probably not accept it. The Wolfhound simply is not as impressive in MWO as it was in TT, being that it could do nothing a Jenner doesn't do better.

Before pulling out an odd Banshee a Marauder would be in place and some others (like Warhammer, ...)

2 words

Harmony Gold.

2 More.

Obnoxious {Noble MechWarriors}.

What does 2+2 = here?

If they resemble the original, Harmony Gold will, once again, sue like crazy, and even if they were to lose, manage to bankrupt IGP/PGI.. It's their tried and true scenario. Which leads us to the obnoxious fanbase, whom will only accept near clones of the original designs, any degree of changes made, even IMPROVING the looks, will cause a {Scrap}-deluge that makes the 3pV one look like a minor leak.

Hence, the focus on designs we actually realistically can expect to see. Would love my Macross Unseens too. Would cringe at the FanPro Project Phoenix Warhammer, though.

Read the OP before posting anything about the Macross Unseens, please.

Want a Marauder? Get a Cataphract.
Want an Archer? Get a Catapult.
Want a Rifleman? Get a JagerMech.
Want a Warhammer? Well, you can't have one. ;)

Unless you find an ancient Battleaxe somewhere.

That's pretty much it for the moment, unfortunately.

For my ;Marauder substitute I''ve got my Maraudaphract. 2 PPCs, 2 medium lasers, AC/5. It's little underweight, but close enough if you squint.

For an Archer I actually went overweight rather than slimmed down. AWS-8T (I think it was the 8T). 2 LRM-20 in the side torsos. 3 medium lasers in the arms (and fill up the extra tonnage with tag and ammo). A bit too fat and slow for a proper Archer, but at least it's almost like one if I'm generous.

Warhammer. Hmm. I wonder if you could turn an Orion into a Whammer.

sorta, I got 2 WHM analogs.

One is the Protector. The issue is the secondary weapons. I got the 2 PPC, and 2 MG, but since it has only one more energy slot, and 2 missile, I have largely just went with 2 ASRM6.

The other is my mini-hammer
QKD-5K
i think the Quicky looks cool with PPC.

The upcoming ON1-K has two energy mounts in each arm, a ballistic mount in the RT, and is 75 tons.
It can be remade into an exact duplicate of the MAD-3R Marauder's loadout... ;)

Except for the 2 MGS, you can make a fatter Warhammer with the Awesome.

I'm glad that they're finally releasing the 75-ton Orion (which should have been released in the first place!). Since we're gonna have a 20 tonner on the way soon, I'll wait patiently for a certain 95 tonner to come eventually.
