Well, if PGI overhauled the Engine system so that the UrbanMech could be put into the game without a lighter-than-air Engine, that might be a possibility... :P

(Seriously - why was the Cockpit weight integrated into the Engine? I can kinda see the rational behind the Gyro integration (since Gyro weight is a function of Engine rating), but it still would have been better to have all three elements be separate (especially in the long term, when options like Small Cockpits & Heavy-Duty or XL Gyros should become available)... :))

I would hope they would modify this system so that different cockpits, gyros, and stuff can be added.

This would also mean that actuators, gyros, and cockpits need to have gameplay implications.

For the gyros, the XL version takes up more CT space for the upside of reduced weight; and the compact version takes up less CT space for more weight. Heavy-duty would be heavier and just reduce/eliminate the amount of cockpit shaking you get and help out with knockdowns when those come back. Small cockpits would provide some kind of penalty that makes aiming harder, such as amplified screen shake from fire/jumping, and maybe some kind of sensor penalty. Or they could just give you a really really bad view such as the Phoenix Locust does, which makes aiming and stuff harder by nature.

The Shadow Hawk has a very cramped cockpit too...

But... aren't these items like 16 years in the future?

XL Gyro: 3067
Compact Gyro: 3068
Heavy-Duty Gyro: 3067
Small Cockpit: 3067

All the fun stuff is in the future. :)

PS: I didn't make the sig myself, but thanks (I got permission to use it, though).

PPS: It turns out that the function of Heavy-Duty Gyro was actually to absorb more damage, not improve stability like I thought it did. I think that my version would be more interesting than the TT one.

Even with PGI's tendency to make Lights too small (versus the relatively-consistent scaling between the other weight classes), it seems unlikely (IMO) that a MWO UrbanMech would be as small as the MWO Locust.
If anything, it's more likely (IMO) to be closer to the MWO Commando or even the MWO Spider in terms of height.

Also, what do you mean by "it makes sense from a programming point of view"? :D

View PostBishop Steiner, on 19 October 2013 - 03:33 PM, said:

About the height of Commando, or a little smaller makes sense, since it will be consistently wider than a COM, and not get skinny legs like other lights. Also, over a 1/3 it's weight is in the bloody arm....

This. It's all about making it look and act correctly.

I would think the Black Knight would be on the list for next release heavies.

As far as the first 4-6 Clan 'Mechs go...

Kit Fox or Adder or Fire Moth
Shadow Cat or Nova
(Timber Wolf) or Summoner or Mad Dog
(Dire Wolf) or Executioner

^ <--- Pick 6. The two in parenthesis are included regardless (for more than obvious reasons).

oh they have plenty of time for getting those ready for you. Over a decade to get them JUST right, as it happens.

(try googling Mechwarrior timeline)

Meh another energy boat with the damn ghost heat still living.. no thanks although it would be rather iconic.
I'd like to see how iglesias would design it but at the same time it will probably be destroyed by either scaling or hiboxes like the orion was -.-

I have a love hate relationship with the MadCat MKII. On one hand the stock config. is absolutely brutal, on the other hand the Diamond Shark sold out and made them for the Innersphere (yes I know that they were made them for the clans first but why use the Innersphere name instead of "Timber Wolf MKII"). Also all the mechs that you mentioned (Thatanos, Uziel, MadCat MKII) are all 3060s designs with the first 2 designed with fighting the Clans in mind. Currently it is 3050 in MWO with a 1:1 time frame, though that may change because the Devs were a little slow. In a couple years when things really slow down the Devs. mentioned that they were considering on loosening the timeline so you may see them then but do not hold your breath since we have been waiting on a number of things that they said for well over a year now.

I am not, I'm basically waiting for the SHD, the rest as expected doesn't give you much more than what we already have, unfortunately I'd say.

Personally I think the medium Clan "Founders" will be the Stormcrow, and isn't the Shadow Cat second -combat/wave/tier thingy, quaiff? :D

I rather suspect that the 'Mechs that make up a "Clan Founders Pack" (which, IMO, would probably be structured more like Project Phoenix than like the original Founders Program, in terms of which 'Mechs are available at which purchase levels) will most likely be selected from the original 16 OmniMechs - my guesses would be the Koshi or the Uller for the Light 'Mech, the Fenris or the Black Hawk for the Medium 'Mech, the Vulture or the Thor for the Heavy 'Mech, and the Masakari or the Gladiator for the Assault 'Mech. :(
