It would also die ridiculously and quickly due to many (most?) players' "alpha strike ALL THE TIME!!" mentality... ;)

Basically, the Black Hawk could do a lot of damage from short-to-medium range, and can theoretically exceed many currently-possible builds (especially those in the same weight class) out to what might be considered long range (it would retain a 42-point alpha strike out to 675 meters), but even a single alpha strike would likely destroy the 'Mech via "Ghost Heat".

And if you think the stock Black Hawk is bad, you should see the Daishi I came up with (see here and here) for another discussion... :blink:

Granted, we now know that one cannot change the engine, but the rest potentially still holds... :D

We're extremely far away. It means indeed that Clans will have to be Hello Kitty Edition, no IS vs Clan ballast (separate queues) no CW so PVP deathmatches for ever..

Partially appreciate the effort for clarity and dates but I fear it's too late for this game. I don't want pussycat Clans, they should come with CW, you should play IS vs IS (house vs house) - IS vs Clan (house vs clan or merc vs clan), balance things through weight, 750 for IS, 560 clans (spitting numbers).

Very meh. But it looks like we'll have to keep seeing this faulty developer on this IP for years. Which is extremely sad and bad.

I just made a Daishi with 3 UAC/20s and 14 tons of ammo (B Variant), without changing HS or armor.
If that's not power creep, I don't know what it is... :\

power creep comes from seeing what the weapon balancing specs are going to be. Last I checked, we have rough cut ideas, not hard figures for any gun. And hardpoints hardly tell the whole story. Fact that that Daishi will be stuck at 48 kph does mitigate that set up quite some bit, especially since it's gonna turn and twist like a turtle with that engine. And when we see where the Hitboxes line up, we will know even more.

save putting out the dumpster fire for after we at least see some smoke. Wet garbage tends to stink.

I think it's irrelevant.

Whatever PGI says, or does, good or bad, is, partly through their own issues, partly through Forum cancer, going to be taken and either twisted, or as usual, have any positives and progress ignored, and negatives and failures amplified.

Too listen to some posts on here, you would think we were still running with 8 chassis, no advance tech, 4 maps and all the bugs that were around when CB started.... or that the game has regressed since then, both of which are simply not the case, whatever feels about the choice of features and mechanics implemented.

Why not a little of column 'A' and a little of column 'B'? Dual uAC/20 with an LB-20/X for back up? The former to make some holes and the latter to to blow up the internals?

Over twenty pages of vitriol when I noticed it last night, and it had only been up a few hours. I get depressed even thinking about posting on that thread.

We all knew that the delay was happening, and now we have a clearer idea of how they're dealing with it. It bothers me very little. I'm going to go stomp around in a giant robot now.

It was nothing really amazing; I expected it with all the anti PGI stuff going on. Yeah I was pissed because of timing and how they put my favorite mech with the second most expensive package (besides the golds) but at the same time I was really excited that they finally announced the clans (been waiting since they released the 2009 trailer). Alex really did the clan mechs justice (ok for the most part) and gave them a whole more advanced look without losing what made them of the clans.

I also see how they are doing a lot and due to limited experience and the fact that we see only the top end of it all, where they can miss deadlines. Maybe the reason why I understand what they are going through is because I was in their shoes. Had to design, program, and make a test fixture for a Tyco F&S product where I had a deadline to meet, learn how to program software on an unfamiliar platform (try and get a Basic Spice 2 chip to measure wavelengths and patterns while failing anything that returns the wrong info), and where everything went FUBAR everytime that you looked at it funny.

Long story short I was really appreciative of the post that Russ did and love the whole progress page for us to get a visual of what is going on. For those that do not know http://www.mwomercs.com/theplan#

I am at work so cannot "play" but dropped in the testing grounds. Very nice, the Griffin is a nice ride.

The Griffin feels like a real nice ride. And that torso twist! Always liked it in TT, and it's still up there in MWO along with my other favourites like the Thunderbolt. Heck, even running it near-stock with just an LRM-20 (with Artemis) and an ER PPC is a blast. And overheating? What is this overheating thing you speak of? ;)
