I am putting this here because you guys rock and all of the old weapon balance threads don't get bumped enough to get seen. And if I start a new thread I would get tons of trolls. Also I know this will never make it into game. I am just wanting y'alls opinions on this set of rules for MWO I came up with. I just wanted the opinions of people, who I think have good opinions on this game.

Weapon Balance for MWO using TT numbers. Well not comepletly TT numbers. I am using TT damage, heat, cooldown, slots, tons and ammo. For ranges and speed I am using MWO numbers.

Energy Weapons

Damage Heat Cooldown Range MaxRange Slots Tons Speed Duration

Er PPC 5 7.5 5s 810 1620 3 7 1,500 N/A
PPC 5 5 5s 90-540 1,080 3 7 1,500 N/A
Flamer .2/s .3/s N/A 120 120 1 1 100 1s
Er Large Laser .8/s 1.2/s N/A 675 1,350 2 5 N/A 1s
Larger Laser .8/s .8/s N/A 450 900 2 5 N/A 1s
Medium Laser .5/s .3/s N/A 270 540 1 1 N/A 1s
Small Laser .3/s .1/s N/A 140 280 1 .5 N/A 1s
LRG Pulse Laser .9/s 1/s N/A 350 600 2 7 N/A .3s
Med Pulse Laser .6/s .4/s N/A 230 460 1 2 N/A .3s
Sml Pulse Laser .3/s .2/s N/A 120 240 1 1 N/A .3s

For all pulse lasers and the Small laser, I extanded the ranges to make them more usefull.
For PPC and Er PPC I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 2 .
Lasers are continuous beams as long as you hold the fire button. With a minmuim of a 1 second beam Duration.
Pulse Lasers are like energy machine guns.

Ballistic

Damage Heat Cooldown Range MaxRange Slots Tons Speed Duration Ammo/t

AC/20 5 1.75 2.5s 810 1620 10 14 650 N/A 20

AC/5 1 .2 2s 620 1700 4 8 1300 N/A 100

Machine Gun .2 0 N/A 120 240 1 .5 100 .3s 2000

For AC/20 I divided Damage, Heat and Cooldown by 4 and multiplied ammo by 4.
For Gauss I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 3 and multiplied ammo by 3.
For AC/10 and LBX/10 I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 5 and multiplied ammo by 5. LBX/10 shot is .2 damage a pellet.
For AC/5 and UAC/5 I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 5 and multiplied ammo by 5. UAC/5 can still double fire and jam just like now.
For AC/2 I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 10 and multiplied ammo by 10.
For Machine Gun I divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 10 and multiplied ammo by 10.

SSRM/2 1 .5 2.5s 270 270 2 3 300 N/A 400

For all the missiles I just divided Damage, Heat, and Cooldown by 4 and multiplied ammo by 4. I also increased the speed of the LRMs.

I just played with my Cicada 3C (ER PPC + 4 MGs) and did some serious havoc sniping at long range.

But there were several factors that helped:
- very big map (Crimson Strait);
- skirmish mode (and no desire for the enemy team to advance);
- the enemies were exchanging fire with my team, far away from me;
- I found a nice, flanking spot, with cover to where I retreated after each ER PPC shot.

Anything about Mechs is welcome here. ;)

But why don't you past your table as an image? It would be easier to read.

I think you underestimate how much those other factors contributed to making that Spider effective. If you can't hide and snipe, it's a laughable weapon. If it couldn't run away it would have died early.

Sadly, gotta disagree. With the current mechlab, the Panther is DOA.

Let us agree to disagree on this because until we see the mech we will never know what it can and cannot do.

*shrugs*

Or, take a Spider, mount an ER PPC, max armor, up to 4 JJs and a 170 engine to represent the maximum speed a Panther could attain.

Or you could make a Panther out of a JR7-D. Sure, it doesn't have the humanoid profile, and the PPC arm won't have the ability to move as widely as the Panther's would, but you have both the energy slot in the arm for the PPC or ER PPC (depending on if you're making a PNT-9R or a PNT-10K) and a torso slot for the SRM-4. Heck, the Jenner is even the correct weight. I've tried it and it was... lacking. Then again, I'm not a good light mech pilot, so maybe the right pilot could really make a Panther dance. The fact that getting shot by a PPC is not a holy terror situation for MWO mechs (even light ones, who would be near to crippled status in the TT game after a shot like that) hurts the Panther in its role as a light with the ability to punch out of its weightclass at long range, as many have said already.

Could do that but that is going to take a bit. Just found out my new favorite mech (Orion) and got to level them up. Also thanks for the help with the Jargermechs. Thanks to you I have been having 700+ damage, 3-4 kills even with the JM6-A (went with UACs and LRMs).

Like the builds I linked to twice on the previous page?
PNT-9R and PNT-10K?

The Cicada 3C isn't bad now. With 4 MG's going off you can do some serious damage to armor. Just gotta pick your battles. If you run it grab the enemy info gathering module because that will help you better pick targets for strafing runs. Then just take a good look at the battlefield and plot a course. Other then that stay at range or make only 1 or 2 PPC shots before you open up with the MGs. I've seen some people get 700+ damage regularly with the 3C this way.

Upload the picture in another site, like the ImageShack. Then copy the link and past it here in the "image" option.

They added a lot of rewards to the Clan Collection. Dang, now I will have to decide what to buy before 28 February... :/

I will buy an 'A la Carte' (simply can't/won't commit $240 for the Masakari Collection), but which one? Timber Wolf or Warhawk?
Timberwolf is faster and has more hardpoint variaty/quantity;
Warhawk is slower but have better armor and has free tons to carry very big guns.

I would wait for more info, as we rougly know how Warhawk will handle, but Timber Wolf viability largely depends on PGI's Clan LRMs implementation.

And we have no idea about how Target Computer will work... it could make the Warhawk a sniper-monster...

Anyway, in 4 days, new light mech!!!

Wish they already gave us some hint. Or anything really. These months of Phoenix designs really deprived me of this new-Alex-design-incoming excitement, and I'm here mostly because of it*

But I tip my hat to the PGI for releasing new mech now, instead of just filling schedule for this month and next with Griffin & Wolverine.

*The game is fun, but Alex's artwork is best thing that happened to BT in 30 years ;)

Just buy into it slowly... I know I am... more information gets me the next package up when the cash is available...

But yea, I'm hanging for a tid-bit, even just the concept art of the soon to be new light mech chassis!

Regardless of the community and monthly rewards I still plan on withholding my money until Community Warfare releases and begins to take solid form (i.e. at least phase 2).

If the devs can get there and get the game on solid footing for the long term I'll make another monetary investment.

Absolutely!

Btw. PGI should finally update their media section. The Kintaro was the last concept art that they've added and i'm still waiting for the regular five* reseen mechs in original paintings* with an higher resolution. In addition, the six reseens are still not listed in the game section. Dunno why!

*Five mechs, because the Locust was added some time ago.
* Original paintings like the Locust concept in the concept art section, not phoenix paintings.
