It's easier the best candidate for next medium (besides, I love symmetry).
BJ-1 (jump)
LA 1b, 1e
LT 1e
CT
H
RT 1e
RA 1b, 1e
---------------------------------------
BJ-1DB (jump)
LA 1e
LT 1e
CT
H
RT 1e
RA 1e
(+2 energy hardpoints, probably in the side torsos - to make it different from the BJ-3)
---------------------------------------
BJ-1DC
LA 1b, 1e
LT 2e
CT
H
RT 2e
RA 1b, 1e
---------------------------------------
BJ-2 (jump, double HS)
LA 1e
LT 2m
CT
H
RT 2m
RA 1e
---------------------------------------
BJ-3 (jump, double HS)
LA 2e
LT 1e
CT
H
RT 1e
RA 2e
I think the Blackjack would be useful (it would be cool to have a small sniper), not only a "poor man's" Catapult K2 and JagerMech.

I think the next medium may actually be the Assassin.
We'll see. I'd like the Blackjack too, but I think we may see the Assassin. It's an alternative (very) fast medium, that sports jump jets unlike the cicada, and has missiles in it's primary configuration vs. pure energy or energy/ballistic on the cicada.
It's a pretty decent choice for the fast medium to compete and be an alternative to the Cicada.
In the mean time, Odanan, sorry I haven't gotten with you to play a game or two as yet, will work on that with you soon I hope. Will try and coordinate getting with you on our teamspeak and drop a few matches with ya.
Chat with you more later, I'm off to bed here. Just got done with a 12 hour night shift.
<S> See ya dirtside.

4 variants, 2 of them the same, except for the engine size and armor. I don't know...
VND-1R (jump)
LA 1e
LT 1m
CT
H 1e
RT
RA 1e
(maybe +1 hardpoint)
---------------------------------------
VND-1AA (jump, faster engine)
LA 1e
LT 1m
CT
H 1e
RT
RA 1e
(maybe +1 hardpoint)
---------------------------------------
VND-2R (jump, double HS, endo steel)
LA
LT 1m (probably 2m)
CT
H 1e
RT
RA 1e
(maybe +1 hardpoint)
---------------------------------------
VND-3L (jump, double HS)
LA
LT 1m
CT
H 1e
RT
RA 1e (probably 2e)
(maybe +1 hardpoint)
...
And here are the 3 variants the Assassin can sport:
ASN-101 (jump)
LA
LT 1e, 1m
CT
H 1e
RT 1e, 1m
RA 1e
---------------------------------------
ASN-21 (jump)
LA
LT 1m
CT
H
RT 1m
RA 1e
(probably +3 hardpoints)
---------------------------------------
ASN-23 (jump)
LA
LT
CT
H
RT 1m
RA 1e
(probably +4 hardpoints, something like RT 3m, RA 3e) -> you see you can disarm the mech by just destroying its Right Torso.
Possible? Yes. But not likely...

The trio Hunchback, Centurion and Trebuchet has the best (non-unseen) medium mechs for the game. Yes, they all have 50 tons, but still, they are canonically common, have lots of good variants, and perform well in the MWO. We can't say the same for 55 tons mechs (have either few variants or are uncommon).
45 tons = Blackjack. Soon.

I would like to have 3 different mechs + 3 variants for each tonnage from 20 to 100.
123 unique mechs!

That's hard.
Some tonnages are barely represented, and some mechs simply don't have 3 variants.
But to be honest, I would prefer the devs to "cut out" some variants too similar to each other, restricting to only 3 variants per chassis (as we can't have 4 of each).
(I like patterns)

The current timeline is 3049 correct? and this game is going to follow real time? so it is currently 11-1-3049....
Because if it is were in deep dodo, 3049: Clans invade the Periphery, contact established with the Clans, Operation Revival takes place.

BattleMech 18: Blackjack (Medium) on Wednesday, November 7
BattleMech 19: Orion (Heavy) on Wednesday, November 28
BattleMech 20: Zeus (Assault) on Wednesday, December 19
This will round out the weight classes with 5 mechs each. Only time will tell...

2. Norse-Storm BattleMechs Inc. fields the Devastator BattleMech.
3. Federated Commonwealth introduced the AXM-1N Axman BattleMech

1. August 13th: Phelan Kell captured by Clan Wolf.
2. The AXM-2N Axman BattleMech variant is introduced.
3. The AWS-9M Awesome BattleMech variant was introduced.
4. Sharron was a noted Trebuchet pilot and she named her machine Snowball. Her Trebuchet was a customized 5N variant, which later became an official version known as the 7N. She piloted a total of three of these machine until her death in 3049.
PGI better get hopping....I feel were already behind, game wise.

There are 16 clan onmi mechs in 3050 (IS names / clan names):
kinda sad that they rely on the TRO and not the timeline for their Clan mechs. ok, even though Shadowcats don't appear in the TRO until 3058, they show up in the IS at Luthien and certainly fully deployed at Tukayyid soon thereafter in 3052. They were originally designed in 3003 and were being built by 3010. not that i'm necessarily a fan of Shadowcats or anything...

I don't think we'll get the Orion. Official stand on him is a poor man's Atlas and you've already got Atlas.
What other good heavies could be considered? I think they'll give us the Grasshopper.

Personally, I would prefer the Orion over the Atlas. My build:
Standard 300 Engine (64.8 km/h) - with a possible upgrade (there are 2 tons left)
Maxed Armor
Gauss (4 tons of ammo) - main gun
2x SSRM-2 (2 tons of ammo) - scout hunter
2x Medium Pulse Laser
AMS (2 tons of ammo)
Ferro Fibrous
Endo Steel
Double Heat Sinks
Man, this mech would be the best of both worlds. It is mobile, well armed and can take the beating.
