I get that, but when has Alex let us down by making the MWO version look like the horrid TRO design?... I have faith that either mech would/will look amazing. I did vote for the Grasshopper, btw.

By the sound of it, there will not be a poll, at least for the light mech(s), as it was a no brainer. That would make me think it is the Urbie. He also said that he may not understand it, but he is very well aware of the cult following of it, which also lends itself to that being the choice.

Giving the benefit of the doubt here that the Urbie is a long term choice, that there are other lights farther along at this time. I recall someone saying that the Wolfhound was being developed too (yay!). 'Course, they could surprise me. It's certainly been a helluva couple months.

Well, I could point out the Wolverine and the Banshee, aka the "Brick Brothers".

They are gonna have to work the heck outta the Quirk system to make the WLF-1 remotely useful, sadly. Literally nothing it does, on paper, that the F·9 doesn't already do, better, in MWO.
I get some people simply want it because. That's cool and all, but I really hope such an iconic mech can really be a tier 1, but unless it gets some really insane quirks, I don't see it. Even if it got ECM (Which Grinner did when it got Clanned up, but let's not think somehow we are getting a clan-tech Hero for an IS Mech. Seriously), it would still be second rate to the Raven because of the pure energy loadouts.
So let's hope when and if it does arrive, we have a fully mature quirk system ready to help it NOT be a tier 3 or 4 mech.

He intimated there would not be, as the choices or what not were pretty obvious.

Urbanmech
Wolfhound
Panther
Hatchetman
Enforcer
Champion
Redundant or not, this is my wishlist...
If only many of them had sufficient variants (and of course, melee combat)
But in my "perfect" scenarios you would get: (runner ups in parenthesis)
Urbanmech (Javelin. Moderately fast, jump capable, at least one would almost certainly have 4 missile hardpoints)
Hatchetman (Enforcer)
Guillotine (Lancelot. The speed, oh the speed!)
Annihilator (Imp)
Of course my real "dream" pack will always be the "Harmony Gold is Dead" Pack:
-Valkyrie (OK, 84 kph light not ideal, but options are Wasp and Stinger)
-Phoenix Hawk (97 kph jumper with energy and ballistics. Oh yeah)
-Warhammer (not the ideal 75 ton bracket, but hugely better hardpoints than Marauder. 6E/2B/1M)
-Longbow (Missile Vomit Assault...and no ther HG/MAcross Battletech Assaults in game, lol))
with the Reinforcement pack being:
Crusader
Archer
(Crusader-L and Archer-S would both be epic additions)
and the Loyalty perk for buying top tier and reinforcements? A limited (HG) Marauder.

I mean even IS is running low on things that are 3050 or before and would add something new and interesting to MWO (lots of generic humanoid stuff left like Clint, Hermes, Vulcan etc) but there is probably still enough even after this IS pack they are working on is announced.
So assuming it will be Clan Wave 2 - IS King Crab Deal - Clan Wave 3 - IS - Clan etc.
If thats how the packs are released I was thinking it stands to reasons that it will be a clan pack that forces the timeline forward. Will it be the third clan pack or can they make one more? Looks like one more is possible without any new weapon systems or even stretching the timeline to 3052 or anything.
Light - Hankyu
Medium - Dragonfly
Heavy - Cauldron Born
Assault - Kingfisher
But there is no way there are two Clan packs worth of mechs left in this timeline without using non-omnis even if they did something like adding Arrow 4 so they could add the Naga.
So does that mean it will be the IS pack after the one they are working on that brings about some timeline movement? Certainly 3055/58 would open up a lot of mechs that would cause more excitement.

pretty sure it was never claimed to be mechpacks only? I know the NGNG chat stream talked about it a lot, but while avoiding hard dates, pretty sure Russ did imply monthly mechs would return, but also referenced the Pack Model (which we have had in conjunction WITH free releases) as a revenue maker that needed to exist, too.

No Russ did not say we're doing mechpacks ONLY but I believe the line was "there will be more packs, pack after pack, we aren't going to stop doing mech packs" or something to that effect. But why would they release things outside of packs? It takes 4 mechs minimum for a pack and the packs make them more dosh and the mechs roll out on a ~monthly schedule anyways. Add in ala carte options and its essentially the same as single mech releases but with more hype and better profits.
If you are PGI why would you release mechs outside of packs? I see no reason why the Vindicator wouldn't be the last solo mech release we see for a long time. The only reason to release a solo mech is because you feel it doesn't fit the "theme" of the packs you have in the pipeline but you want to get the mech out there because its ready.
Especially considering if they can get the Urbie working they can use it as a 2x top tier IS pack reward like the Mad Dog for maximum profits somewhere down the line.

That's a very good bet.
Reinforcement: Battle Cobra.
After that "Wave 3", they will really need to forward the timeline a few years for more Clan omnimechs.
For a Wave 4, "Refusal War" pack (time forwarded a few years):
Light: Phantom, Fire Falcon
Medium: Pouncer, Black Lanner
Heavy: Linebacker, Night Gyr
Assault: Tomahawk, Turkina (Naga is more appropriate, but not included because of Arrow IV)
Reinforcements: Mongrel (Grendel), Huntsman (Nobori-Nin)
And if they figure out MASC, that would give a "MASC Pack":
Light: Fire Moth (has MASC)
Medium: Shadow Cat (has MASC)
Heavy: ? (Lupus is the only candidate left, because Crossbow is terrible)
Assault: Executioner (has MASC)

I would buy the _hell_ out of a "Harmony Gold is dead pack", but then again I think most of us oldies would.

I really like Crossbows and BattleCobras. Dunno why, always seem to prefer playing underdog chassis.
And crossbows have MASC?

No, they don't - but there isn't a heavy with MASC, so...
And the Crossbow... well, the prime has all but 2 missile hardpoints.
