Dear ultimate mech thread,
So another CW update has come out and they talked more about LP finally and I'm still seeing a lot of this:

How about Faction only mechs/variants? Thought that was the plan all along! Titles and skins alone isn't going to get many very excited about it.
I've seen the similar sentiment on reddit and elsewhere.
So it got me thinking. I think adding special mechs or variants or heros as CW rewards only is a ludicrous idea. From a business standpoint and a balance standpoint. But what about this dear mech thread feast your eyes on 10 missing variants of existing chassis:
Davion = VTR-9D & BJ-1DB
Steiner = TBT-5S & COM-5S
Kurita = CPLT-K3 & GRF-1DS
Liao = BNC-3Q & VND-1SIC
Marik = TDR-7M & WVR-6M
What do you guys think? I know that all ten of those variants have a stock loadout that you can already create in MWO. I know that most/all would get identical hardpoint layouts to existing variants. But think of it, they could give them different quirks based on their stock weapons, they would still be new mechs, sort of.
I know I care about lore more than most but I feel like adding variants like these as rewards is a good compromise between the business of selling mechs for $$$, maintaining balance between factions but giving cooler/better rewards for LP. They are also not much work for PGI. Everyone wins?
Those are the ten best 3050 or before, timeline appropriate missing variants that require no new tech (i.e. TSM, MASC, C3) I could come up with. Two for each faction. Did I miss anything good or make any glaring errors?
I know that there is a AS7-K-DC floating around out there and that'd be awesome in MWO but lets face it, giving one faction a special ECM Atlas would probably not be fair.
Do you guys think the ability to unlock variants like that through Loyalty rewards is a good idea? Maybe even being able to buy them outright if what we need are more LP sinks for permanent faction players.
