Be cool if the new variant got CGL's blessing and makes it into canon, since PGI has been as faitful to TT as is reasonable all things considered. I know video games are apocryphal, but it would be nice to get the official TT nod.

Edit: this could be interesting too.
That would give 2 high tech variants for the Enforcer which isn't exactly par for the course. I would imagine another base tech variant.
The modified one I suggested, the War Witch, just makes too much sense for the 3025 era. You can have 10 tons of armour, 4 JJs and 12 single heat sinks. That means you can run & fire the PPC and still be ok on heat. Then when you get to brawling range, you've got a pair of 6s for smashing and an ML (in the head) for backup/zombie brawling. That's (4+4+3+2) 13 heat, which is very manageable.
Contrast that with the Vindicator which has 16 heat sinks a PPC, LRM5, ML & SL. Unless you're in short range you're never going to need that many heat sinks. If you're at range you're going to need 16 at most, and that's if you're jumping, firing the PPC & LRM5 in the same round. If you're in mid range, sure the 16 will keep the PPC & the lasers cool, but if the enemy gets within 3 range, you're in trouble.
Dropping some heat sinks and the LRM5, you could have a pair of SRM4s in there each with a ton of ammo, upgrade the SL to an ML or something, and, similar build to the Enforcer, PPC for long range, pair of MLs & SRM4s for brawling. Seems to me would be a much more useful configuration than the VND-1R.
Hindsight is 20/20 and all that jazz, but this variant makes too much sense not to be some Kuritan House Variant.
All that said, I've no idea how it'd fair in MWO, perhaps a Griffin/SHD-2K mini-brawler with 3 MLs & 2-3 SRM4/6s? You could up the engine a fair bit or something. More generic mini-Griffin with PPC/LRMs? I dunno. Probably all pointless speculation at this stage as if they're rushing this in to production, they likely have a 3rd variant in mind.

Cyclops(A90)
Black Knight(H75)
Crab(M50)
Mongoose(L25)
I can't see anything but the Urbie beating out the Mongoose (no way Hussar or Hermes does) and you don't need the Urbie to sell that pack which already has tons of nostalgia and popularity from Knight, Cyclops and Crab.
Medium isn't so cut and dried. They could decide to stop adding 50/55 tonners and go with something off this list:
Wyvern (45)
Whitworth (40)
Vulcan (40)
Clint (40)
Assassin (40)
Couple that with the fact that Cyke and Knight were close to ready and a Comstar pack just makes too much damn sense.

Okay, and Enforcer and Zeus as well, but mostly PANTHER AND GRASSHOPPER!
I... I think I'm going to have to get this pack.
Because Panther.
And, you know, Grasshopper.
And for the Panther there's already a fine choice for Hero mech from the lore they can use. Minobu Tetsuhara's (and later his younger brother's) Katana Kat.from the Wolves on the Border novel.

I believe so.
"Pink Panther" might be a little forward in the timeline and that's not a very attractive name for a hero.

Sure, if you can get River City, River City Night, Frozen City & Frozen City Night as the only maps you play on, sure, it might actually be ok. If you wind up on Alpine though you're more of a detriment to your team than anything else. I think there's even some fluff that talks about how some commander was desperate for mechs against an invading enemy and ordered his urbanmechs out of the city to engage their enemies out in the fields. Suffice it to say, it went poorly.
I love light mechs, and the silliness of it is good times - having tried it out on my Spider, I can safely say it's FAR better than you'd expect, a sort of Carrion Hunter and Support Sniper.
Also, I think that from playing with my UM-R63 Spider (LBX10, ML) mapwise the Urbie would perform:
Well on:
Crimson Straight
Mining Collective
River City Night
OK to Well on:
Forest Colony (Snow)
Frozen City (Night)
HPG Manifold
River City
OK on:
Canyon Network
Caustic Valley
Terra Therma
Poorly to OK on:
Tourmaline Desert
Poorly on:
Alpine Peaks

NO! Not another page to my pile of Sarna... but I cannot leave Ace's story untold...
Field Manual: Mercenaries, the original FASA ed, also implies it is a custom as its sporting at least a ER PPC AND Double Heat Sinks, meaning its not a stock 10K.
